Fabulous stay at the old excuse house thanks to emma and ron's splendid hospitality. Beautiful house, wonderful breakfast, stunningly picturesque location. Could not ask for more and would thoroughly recommend.

From the beautiful breakfast prepared by Emma each morning to the luxurious bath, everything was wonderful! We were happy to have a chat with Ron each morning before heading out to the various distilleries within walking distance of the B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay, and plan on staying the next time we visit Islay.

The Old Excise House is situated on A846, just outside Port Ellen. The path from Port Ellen to Laphroig, Lagavullin and Ardbeg runs along the road, where The Old Excise house is located, so it's an easy walk either into Port Ellen for dinner of for a distillery tour. The Old Excise House offers two beautiful and spacious rooms overlooking...

So lucky to have found this super B&B for our first visit to Islay. Great hosts, great accommodation, great location. Ron and Emma certainly go above and beyond with their attention to detail and helpfulness. The welcome with home baking, fantastic breakfasts... mmmm delicious homemade bread and marmalade, and great local knowledge, certainly made our stay so special.

We were warmly welcomed by Ron and Emma to their beautiful and comfortable house. The accommodation was superb. Lovely beds and bedrooms, and bathrooms with beautiful views. Emma is an award-winning cook, and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. No dietary requirement was too much trouble. Ron was a source of knowledge about anything on Islay. A bonus is that there...

Beautifully furnished house -we stayed in the double aspect room with views over the sea and surrounding country side so lovely views to wake up to. The upstairs lounge/dining area used for breakfast also has lovely sea views and this...

Everything about our stay was excellent. Ron and Emma are great hosts, and gave us great advice about every aspect of Islay. We would have had a very different experience had we not stayed with them and asked lots of questions! There was one negative to our stay: it was too short! We'd gladly go back, and when we do,...

We decided to spend our holiday visiting a few islands in Scotland. Out first stop was Islay. Ron and Emma at the Old Excise house were very welcoming with afternoon tea. The room, the large bathroom with roll top bath were absolutely superb! Breakfast was also wonderfully cooked with a different bread baked every day. Thank you so much for...

A truly charming place to stay with hosts whose motto is, "What would we want if we were guests," and they really manage the details to perfection. Emma is a great cook--breakfast was something to look forward to daily--and her baking is delicious. Room was comfortable and well-appointed and a great, modern bathroom with big shower. There is a footpath...

When you visit Islay and you want to be spoiled go to The Old Excise House. Don't be fooled that this is any B&B for it's not. It's luxury served up in the form of crisp, contemporary comfort, wonderfully smooth linens and fluffy towels followed by the most delicious breakfast and home baked breads, puffs and scones, fresh berries and...
