Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My 2 brothers and I were in Newf on a genealogy search and spent 3 days in Brigus. A very beautiful area and Shirley's caring and generosity at the Brookdale made a great stay even better. Highly recommended.

I would definitely recommend this B&B if stopping in Brigus. The home of Shirley & Frank Roberts is situated a few minutes outside "downtown" Brigus but was easy to find. The home was originally designed and built as an assisted living facility by Frank's Mom but converted later to a B&B. Shirley & Frank live in the home and were right there if we needed anything but the entry is situated such that you don't feel like you're interferring in the home space. Our room, (2 double beds) was spotlessly clean, quite comfortable and very peaceful. The only noise was the howing wind from the weather. Breakfast was plentyful, hot and delicious. The atmosphere, room & peroid furniture took me back to give me a feeling like visiting my relatives. We enjoyed our one night stay while on vacation and wouldn't hesitate to come by again.

Very quiet setting (former farm outside of the "downtown" core of historic Brigus).
Clean, comfortable room with private full bath. No tv in room is a minor downside, but there is one in the huge family room
Full breakfast with homemade bread (white and whole wheat) and homemade jams is served in a cozy dining room.
Hosts Shirley and Frank are friendly and provide information on local events and eateries.
Good value! We have stayed here on many trips to the area. Consistently good all round.

We had an enjoyable stay at Brookdale while vacationing in Newfoundland. This B & B is in a very quiet, peaceful country setting. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. And Shirley's breakfasts were hearty and delicious. She and Frank were very hospitable, with Shirley giving us great tips about restaurants and hiking in the area.

Shirley and Frank, hostess and host made us feel like we were visiting family in Brigus. Their hospitality flowed as they made our visit most enjoyable. This is a wonderful location for anyone wishing to explore St John's and the surrounding sights. Originally we planned to spend 3 nights here but it was so comfortable and convenient that we extended our stay to 5 nights. The setting is lovely, the rooms quite comfortable and the breakfasts excellent and included homemade jams and jellies (blueberry and other exotic berries), homemade bread, eggs done any style, green tomatoes from the garden, a variety of fruits and other homemade goodies. The breakfast room looked out to a beautiful pastural scene.
