We were staying at this hotel around 10 times (because of free parking and a short distance from the airport), and every next time was worse a little. But the last stay was really disappointing. For the first time, we've received a very small room from the noisy highway side. For a few hours, hot water was disconnected. Wi-fi doesn't exist, disconnecting every 5 minutes, so if you're planning to work, just forget it. They used to have a good restaurant there, but not anymore. Very little choice and food were tasteless, and it's not cheap. Very disappointed. Don't think I'll come back.
This hotel has clean and very quiet rooms, so one can sleep and relax well at night. Moreover, the restaurant in the hotel, Aquarius, offers tasty courses of the Portuguese cuisine with fresh fish every day. If you don t have a car, the only way to get to Lisbon is to walk to the Vila Franca railway station (1.5 km) and then take the train to Lisbon Sta. Apolonia (40 minutes).
Disappointed that the hotel did not honour the pilgrims tariff mentioned in our recently published Camino Portuguese guide book. Firstly six people were not enough for a group, then receptionist was to check with the manager and at checkout the full tariff was payable with that receptionist claiming they did not offer such a rate. Not in the Camino spirit.
A business hotel in this part of town is quite handy for me as I was having the work nearby. The bags didn't arrive on day one due to airfrance and came to know that this is quite a common occurance with this airline. The hotel team was really very helpful in tracing and arguing with them in the language they understand. Oh and the negative, which cannot be attributed to hotel is that there are no nearby shops or supermarket where daily essentials and clothes can be purchased in emergency. Although for shaving etc hotel team was quite helpful to provide the disposables. The breakfast facility is ok, nothing elaborate or good. Special mention for the front desk team once again.
Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient throughout our one night stay. Room was clean, large and comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant definitely substandard. Our reservation (booked by trekking company) was half board so we had a limited choice (usually not a problem). We both had the vegetable soup which was reasonably tasty but not great and arrived at room temperature. I like both hot and chilled soups, but this was neither. The generous portion of baked monkfish with potatoes, cilantro and a tomato sauce was overcooked and a bit like chewing rubber bands in places. Our dessert choice was fruit cocktail or almond dessert, given our experience with the first two courses, we walked down to a local gas station and bought ice cream bars. Breakfast was just OK. No dry cereal, toaster but no bread to toast and the juice was not juice but rather some fruit drink. Otherwise everything was fine. …
