We stayed here one night while doing the TMB. The dorm was fine but the staff were not friendly and the food was the worst of any refuge we stayed in on this trip. By comparison, the following night we stayed at Rifugio Bonnatti, where we had a lovely four course dinner. At La Peule, we were given a dish...

This is a small scenic stop which is a milking station for the local cows as well as a TMB trekkers rest stop. It is welcomed after the decent from the Grand Col Ferret. We had a strawberry milkshake which was delicious. It was fresh milk mixed with some strawberry mix, no ice. I assume the milk came from the...

After crossing the Col de Ferret from Italy and walking down hill for an hour or so, la Peule is the first contact with Switzerland and its price level. It is fun to watch how this high altitude farm works with its cows for great cheese and chicken for wonderful omelettes. The dortoir sleeping quarters are clean and provides for...

We found this traditional place to be lovely and a perfect stop for us on a long rainy day. The conditions are basic still welcoming and charming by the way that this place is showing a combined form of tradition and business to their guests . We do recommend this place

Stopped here for drink and cake on the way towards Col Ferret while walking the TMB. The view from the location is really quite special having left the roads behind it is a really nice rest stop on the TMB. Had some really nice hot chocolate and apple cake which was very very welcome. A high recommended stop on the...

We booked this last minute and so glad we did. The staff were great, the evening meal was delicious and the breakfast plentiful with homemade bread, cheese, butter - part of their working dairy. The dormitory was comfortable and the showers hot.

We stayed here during August 2014 when we completed the Tour Du Mont Blanc (TMB). We started in Champex and completed the tour in a clockwise direction. We stayed half board in the dorms. The food was nice and plentiful. Dinner consisted of bread, cheese, ham, tomatoes baked in the oven. The only downside was that there was not enough...

This has clearly been recently built/renovated and the overall ambiance is good, if a little too "swiss" on the service front (efficient but rather stern - more smiles would be good). There is a nice, large communal eating/relaxing area with wood burning stove, bar service and snacks. Accommodation is a clean and well kept dorm of c. 30 beds+bunks with...

We had walked a very long way when we arrived at Refuge Nant Borrant. This was our first night in Switzerland on our Tour du Mont Blanc. We had expected to stay in a refuge in Italy which turned out to be closed so we pressed on to Nant Borrant. We arrived after 5 pm to a warm welcome at...

“Mezzanine has single beds and is a bit more secluded, but noisier from snoring below. Warmer if its cold but might get a bit hot on very warm nights.”
