Got to say after backpacking Europe, and south america this was close to the worst hostel. Was told that check in is 4pm. No one there, finally called emergency line 5:30pm. Finally someone showed up around 6pm. Nice guy but he takes us to our room and its covered in beer bottles and he is like sorry guess its not... More

I can't say anything but good things about this budget hostel. It is kept clean. Service is good by the hostel employees. It is close to some great coffee shops in town. Just a short walk to some grocery stores not far away from the hostel. Parking is either inside the hostel's parking lot, which does get crammed a bit... More

Hello everyone! I had the great opportunity to stay there for three weeks while I was in Courtney for volunteer work. I see that another volunteer from us, Silja, wrote a review. It is an amazing hostel, quite clean, in great location. The staff is awesome, very friendly and accommodating. By the first days we were already friends with everyone... More

Don't ever go there, loud, dirty.SMELLY, Staff are rude, bad lighting, other guests were drunk and yelling. A very BAD place to try to sleep or even relax. I was suffering anxiety and not allowed to stay because of it

I was fortunate enough to reside here during a 3 week volunteer trip and I completely agree with the sentiments expressed by Silja. I've stayed at many luxury hotels, but here at Cona Hostel they have the most accommodating employees that I have ever come across. I cannot thank you enough for making my first hostel experience a positive one.

Cona Hostel is the place to stay in Courtenay! It's got everything! The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are always clean, the kitchen is well equipped, the common room is cosy and the patio overlooking the river is so lovely, it will take you effort to actually leave it to go see one of the many breathtaking things around the... I've not stayed in a lot of hostels, at least not in the past few years, but I was very impressed with this one. The rooms are very clean and we had a private room with a lovely view over the river. Yes, it was a bit noisy on one of the nights, but that was from a party down... More

My stay here was a bit of a mixed bag. The place is bright, spacious and in a great location by the river. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and modern, a real bonus for a hostel. The facilities were great. The beds however were very uncomfortable (I'm not a princess, I've stayed in many, many hostels but this was pretty... More

This hostel is probably the best hostel I ever stayed in during my hitchhiking travels around America & Canada! Everything was superb from the neat rooms to the great organization and the very friendly staff.

The Cona is a very clean, friendly and well located hostel on the edge of downtown Courtney, overlooking the meandering Puntledge River. Lucy at the desk was very welcoming and helpful. The hostel has a large, fully stocked kitchen and open common area with tv, DVDs, foos ball table, books, etc. It seemed pretty empty, only saw a couple of... More
