We pulled up to stay one night, a bit unsure at the look pf the place but we were met by Tania the owner who hails from Scotland. Long story short, we had such a warm welcome we stayed five nights. The large room was clean and warm. The bed gave the best nights sleep for a long time. All...

This is very much a 'no-frills' hostel! But the place is clean and the beds are comfy! Lovely friendly staff and a short walk into Golden! They adopt cats, who have free reign of the place, so I wouldn't recommend to anyone with a severe allergy! The garden is very funky and a great place to relax with a beer!

I was coming through back to Calgary from the Okanagan and needed a last minute place to stay. The building is small and old looking, but it was clean and had a lot o character to it. I suggest having someone cover the front desk when she goes out for supper so I am not left wondering how and when...

I was pretty hesitant when I arrived as the building appeared pretty old but I did enjoy my stay overall. The people were friendly and I enjoyed sharing stories with fellow travelers. My only complaint would be a lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms in the morning and no one to ask for extra. I also found it quite...

This is a relatively basic hostel, but the atmosphere is very welcoming and homely and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. And the hostel has four adorable cats, which was a bit plus from my point of view! The kitchen is well equiped, and I found the bedroom that I was in very comfortable. There is also free wi-fi,...

The staff here are wonderful and the place definitely has a homey feel. The 2 ladies who were running the place clearly went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and keep the place clean. That being said, this hostel is an old poorly maintained house cluttered with old furniture. It is separated from town by the train tracks,...

What can I say, Tanya is great, she's really helpful and a lovely genuine person. This hostel feels more like a shared house rather than a business. The water's always hot in the shower, lovely cats to cuddle (they are being fostered), lots of info for things to do, nice yard with hammocks and fire pit, plenty of kitchen gear,...

Great place! Lovely people and very friendly owner with loads of helpful suggestions on things to do. Only complaint was it could have been a little cleaner, and the shower didn't have a proper head on it. I would definitely come back though!

Hi thanks for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay & hope to see you back some day. Sorry the hostel wasn't up to its usual cleanliness standard; as I'm sure you guessed ski season had ended & the hostel was gearing up to close for renovations; no excuse as every guest should be entitled to the same standards...

Originally I'd booked my "me time" ski weekend (the purpose of which was to discover a resort I'd yet to experience myself) at Castle Mountain Resort near the Crowsnest Pass, and I had my accommodations and private lesson booked and ready to roll. But, alas, 12 days before I was supposed to go, poor Castle had to shut down early...

Spent a week staying at the hostel. The rooms were plain, but super clean and beds were comfy. The crew at the hostel did fun group activities like 5 pin bowling! Close to Kicking horse. Thanks Tanya! -Adam and Matt
