A magical place! Spectacular mountain scenery and good walking over varied terrain. Chris is an excellent guide and the lodge was comfortable in all the right ways. Terrific food. If you want a high mountain experience in a lodge, I highly recommend Talus.

4 days in the middle of one of the the most magnificient part of the B.C./ AB Rockie Mountains ! The quietness, the beauty, the weather, the food, the service, the other guests and of course the owner and his 2 staffs.... were amazing ! What a wonderful hiking experience in the backcountry of the Rockies. We spent 3 nights at the lodge and had great weekend. A quick 15 minute helicopter ride from Canmore and you are away from the hustle and bustle of your busy life. When you arrive you are met by the owner Chris and his wonderful staff, our cook Mo...

This experience defies categories but in a really good way. If you are looking for wait service luxury, toiletries and Egyptian cotton towels this might not be for you. If you are looking for an eco friendly, semi-educational mountain back country immersion then get there and get there soon. The chalet is heated by wood stoves, run on solar and...

This trip was for me, an experienced hiker, a wonderful experience. My husband and I (31 and 28) went to Talus with my husband's parents (58 and 60). Experienced hikers will enjoy the rugged, un-trailed, un-marked, unspoiled wilderness. Beginner hikers, however, will feel that even with little elevation gain, the hiking is difficult as it is all over uneven and...

I loved hiking without trails. We wandered over the meadows and rocks without restriction. The owner, Chris, is a fascinating guy who hails from Ecuador and lead us to a different spot everyday. He sets a pace that allows everyone to experience the joys of being in the wild then makes you feel so pampered back at the Lodge. Excellent...

I have had back country experiences in the US, Europe, NewZealand, India and VietNam. After 3 glorious days at Talus Lodge, BC, in Canada's Rockiy Mtns. I find myself wondering why I ever leave home. High alpine, mountain meadows, forests, waterfalls, lakes, caves, wild flowers, and wild life in action...Throw in a relaxed vibe, delicious food, friendly staff, comfortable beds...

Iffy weather is the true test of a backcountry lodge, and the people at Talus Lodge can make even a rainy day a beautiful experience. The flower meadows and karst topography are awesome when it's overcast, and the mountain scenery is breathtaking when it's sunny. Our hikes included exceptional wildlife viewing -- a weasel being chased by a ground squirrel...

Secluded location, protected from the rest of the world by mountains and a cliff, the Talus Lodge playground is a feast for hikers. Rocks, flowers, ptarmigan, great views, tarns and outstanding food are all part of a package deal to be found nowhere else in the Canadian Rockies. Get a glimpse of the rugged mountain West as the First Nations...

Walking through this beautiful alpine landscape with Chris and Graham was a rare experience. They led us to sweeping overlooks, and to miniature alpine gardens with tiny waterfalls and pools. The care they took to accommodate the various levels of hiking ability in our group enhanced everyone's experience. Snacks awaited when we returned each afternoon, and tasty dinners matched our...
