My daughter and I are from Minnesota and were looking for a way to spend a weekend outdoors together. We read about SME in a local newspaper and were drawn to the idea of a remote hiking lodge reached only by helicopter, an onsite chef, and wifi in such a remote location (we both had some work we had to...

In Revelstoke we were greeted by Kim on behalf of SME who briefed us and then we were driven to a helicopter pad. From there a short helicopter flight took us to the chalet. On our arrival at the chalet we were very warmly welcomed by Ruedi, Nicoline, Estee and Hendrik. After a short orientation we prepared and packed our...

This hiking adventure was even more spectacular than I had hoped for. The helicopter transfers were efficient; they had us hiking very quickly after we arrived. The hikes were varied and adjusted according to ability; the views were amazing and even late season there were still wildflowers. The guides expertly pushed me outside of my comfort level and helped me...

Thank you for your review and suggestion for the last morning's breakfast. We take your suggestions seriously and served fresh scones, fresh cinnamon buns and hand picked alpine huckleberries for breakfast on our last exchange day. Three guides for 15 guests makes it easier for everyone! We hope that you will be back. Kind regards, Nicoline

The hiking with their guides was exceptional. The guides selected trails that challenged us but rewarded our efforts on trails developed and maintained by the Lodge. There were more trails than we could hike in our 4 day visit. The staff were very professional, very pleasant and accommodated changes in guests due to some people's medical and personal situations (we...

Thank you for your thorough and honest review. I am sorry that you were not satisfied with the food. Just to clarify, there is abundant fresh, baked daily, bread with dinner every night. Henric our chef comes around and asks for seconds at every meal and checks in with the guests to make sure everything is as expected. I wish...

If you love to hike, Selkirk Mountain Experience offers one of the most magnificent opportunities in the Canadian mountains. We just returned from our third visit and we are again amazed by the welcome of the Berlinger family and the opportunities for remarkable hiking. We were able to cross the Durrand and Forbidden Glaciers again this year to visit the...

True Grit is usually associated with the John Wayne classic but those words and character trait also describe what is necessary for the stunningly beautiful Hut-to-Hut-to-Hut experience offered by Ruedi and Nicoline Beglinger. Upon disembarking the helicopter that has flown you to Moloch Hut you will be met by the austere beauty of surrounding glaciers and towering mountain peaks. Your...

Thank you very much. We are glad that as our first hut-hut-hut guests you had such a great time. Ruedi and Florina are also still talking about the great week with you. We look forward to another adventure with you in the future. Warm regards, Nicoline

Durrand Glacier Chalet is home to the Beglinger family. When guests arrive, they are welcomed to oven-fresh, warm sweet rolls, coffee and the gracious hospitality offered by Nicoline, Florina and Charlotte Beglinger. From this point on, the entire stay feels like a "homecoming." They do everything possible to ensure the perfection of your experience. Wonderful meals, excellent, attentive trail guiding,...

SME This is a multi-year, multi- visit review. I must admit, I'm a big fan. I have been to SME 5 times skiing with my son and one time hiking with my wife , TravelPatty. The first trip was in 2001. All the trips were awesome with the distinguishing differences being the comfort up-grades. In the beginning you needed head...

My third trip to Selkirk Mountain Experience and can't say enough wonderful things about the lodge, the wilderness huts, the staff, the food, the amazing Canadian Rockies, and the intense physical experience with Ruedi and his guides. It is not for the faint of heart, the ski experience is rigorous but the camaraderie and the gorgeous scenery are worth every...

I have been at SME many times before for their classic ski touring week. People ask me why I don't try other places offering similar experiences.
