I love staying at the Sidney Pier. It has the best location, right on the ocean and sea wall walk. It's very close to some of the best restaurants, including in the hotel. I am especially fond of the suites, which have a full kitchen and gas fireplace.

A thank you to Karen at the front desk reception for making our stay very welcome from the start! Always helpful and courteous, even advising on suitable rooms for a future stay - she went above and beyond! Our room was well appointed and large; it would have been nice to have an extra luggage rack provided in the room, but not a deal breaker. Daily regular housekeeping is on hold during the pandemic, but housekeeping service is still available by request for replenishment of towels, tea, etc. The location is perfect by the water, parking for $10 per night is very reasonable. Could not cast from iPad to the TV to watch netflix at end of day - TV cable package available but limited selection. I know, no one goes away on vacation to watch tv, but it is something that happens when we wind down for the day. For that reason, the Inn across the street has slightly more appeal for a longer stay. It's a little thing but could go along way in keeping us as future guests, especially during the rainy months.

Hi oilking138 - thank you for taking the time to share your review and I agree...the ability to cast to the tv is a great bonus and something we are currently working on implementing. We have everything installed for Chromecast, just working on tying it in with our Property Management System! Rainy day movie nights - here we come! Look forward to welcoming you back again soon! Cheers!

I've now stayed at the Sidney Pier Hotel twice and I can absolutely say that I will be staying there many more times in the future. The price for the quality of room is unmatched and the location is incredible with the ocean just steps from the door and downtown Sidney within walking distance. During Christmas, I stayed the night in one of the business rooms and the staff were so kind as to leave stockings full of goodies on the door handles on Christmas day for those staying during the holidays. That gesture went so above and beyond that the hotel now has my lifelong business. I then brought my partner with me the second time around for a Valentine's getaway. The view from our ocean-view room was breathtaking, and we were so satisfied with our stay. We were able to explore lots of Sidney and not feel like we were straying too far away from the hotel. I'm excited to stay here again in the near future.

We biked up from Victoria for a "staycation" overnight. The location was perfect.
We visited the Salish Sea Centre and had a yummy brunch at the 10 Acres at the Pier (located in the hotel). The staff were very welcoming and allowed to us to put our bikes securely in their storage room there.

The coffee in room was a gourmet brand and tasted excellent. We really appreciated the dairy cream for it in the fridge. Dressing gowns were provided and TV control a snap to use. Wonderful quality hotel in a superb waterfront location. Staff at reception friendly and helpful. We arrived by bicycle and a secure location to store them was readily provided by hotel.

This hotel was included our Vermont Bike tour stays. We had a slight delay getting into our room, but from then on it was a really nice experience. The front desk staff were very accommodating, the rooms is a decent size with a little view of the water. We appreciated the classier soap and lotion dispensers instead of the little bottles and soap packages. Dinner at the restaurant was fantastic and the overall experience was really nice. We'd stay hear again.

Modern well kept hotel located on the ocean and the pier in Sidney BC. Returning guest.. Post Covid limitations and lack of staff have negatively affected housekeeping services. 10 Acres Market for coffee and baking is not as good as previous Georgia Cafe. Having to pay $15 to make a reservation seems riduculous when hotels are trying to get customers back into the travel industry.

999penny - Thank you for sharing your feedback. We have reduced our housekeeping services based on guest feedback that most people are not wanting housekeepers in and out of their rooms daily, but we are more than happy to provide what you need! We do not charge a booking fee whether you book direct or not - but the travel agent you booked with did and that money goes into their pocket - not ours. Take care and all the best.

We arrived at the hotel from the US just yesterday. They told us that they wanted proof that we had been in quarantine for 14 days prior to the arrival. We showed them the regulations from the Canadian government website as well as all supporting documentation showing that we did not need to quarantine (proof of Canadian citizenship, COVID tests, proof of vaccination, arriveCAN immunization, etc.).

They stated that they needed us to quarantine until we got our arrival tests stating that it was hotel policy. When I asked the assistant manager where I could see this policy, she couldn't nor wouldn't show it to me. Jen, the assistant manager, said that her manager "had" the policy but that conveniently she was away and as such could not produce it. This policy was of course no where to be seen on their website. Given the absence of evidence, all that I can take as a conclusion is that it was entirely based on her discretion and the direction of the wind that morning. And to put a cherry on top of the Sundae, it said that all staff had to wear a mask but herself was not wearing one. You invent policies and cannot abide by ones clearly written.

Given that they had no motivation of abiding by Canadian regulations and that they simply decided to invent a policy that morning, my wife and I decided to go to a different hotel.

I would strongly advise against staying there if people want the assurance that they will have a contractual arrangement set in writing. There are only 2 conclusions from this. They are 1) too disorganized to share in writing hotel policies or 2) staff are free to invent them as they see fit.

For any US citizen coming in starting August 9th, I would strongly suggest against staying there.

Good afternoon louish006 - I am truly sorry that you found our policies unclear and difficult to adhere to. As I am sure you can imagine, with the sudden reopening of the borders and mixed information pertaining to covid test results, masks, etc.... we are just trying to do our best. I agree that we have received, and therefore implemented, varying policies based on what has been happening at that time - trying to stay on top of ever changing regulations. I am sorry you were so unhappy with your stay here and can understand it all must have been very frustrating. All we were asking for was proof of your negative Covid test to negate the need for you to quarantine. I am glad you were able to find suitable accommodation elsewhere and am sorry it came to that. Travel safe.

We stayed in the basic what they call business suite which overlooked the street. It was luxurious and what you would expect for a business suite but with a little more. Lots of windows, and yes could most probably be noisy during the summer but we stayed from May 15th until May 19th for a wedding in the area so where there for part of a long weekend and also Hockey playoffs. No real noise and we slept really well. The room was little cool so had to adjust the air con they had on, but otherwise great.
Bathroom very large and good shower. Good selection of toiletries - although I personally I only used hand soap as not keen on lavender smell too much.
Did expect that there might have been a couple of bottles of water in the fridge for the high end hotel that it is and have found in hotels of similar level. So had to go out and buy some.
Found some neat places to eat outside the hotel.
Vehicle parking - always found a spot, but when busy in the summer might have to move your vehicle around if come in later in the evening.
Hotel was very quiet inside and outside rooms, the cleaners did accommodate our hours well as on the day of the wedding we were attending we only went out for a few hours before retuning to shower and get ready to leave. Only day we heard noise was our last morning when a family walked past our door talking really loudly with their little kid.
Would we stay here again - yes as location fantastic with exit straight out to boardwalk and park area where there is a canopied stage which I suppose they have music etc on during peak times. Would have loved to have someone play that weekend but it was a bit breezy and cool to say the least.

Upon a very check-in due to flight delays, we were not informed of the “no housekeeping because of COVID” standard at this hotel(and apparently many more in BC). We returned to the room on day two to find no housekeeping performed. I assumed that the door hanger needed to be put out to have the room made up so did this on the morning of day 3. We returned evening of day 3 to the same result. Called the front desk to inquire and was informed of the housekeeping policy. We continued our vacation and checked out day six. While at the counter I made a comment about the housekeeping and was then informed that this should have been communicated to us upon check-in. I gave positive verbal feedback to the counter staff member concerning other procedures available to ensure consistent communication of the policy to customers. I also asked for communication from the hotel management to further discuss and assist for the future.

Hi Guidohuks - thank you for taking the time to share your experience and I do apologize that the housekeeping policy was not communicated to you upon check-in. Housekeeping is offered for stays of 5 days or longer and can be arranged the day prior with the front desk and should have been shared with you the day you arrived. We have many guests who do not want our housekeeping staff entering their room which is why we have changed our policy for the time being. I will be in touch with the front desk team and yourself in the coming days. All the best.
