Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked through a booking site, and immediately received an email asking me to upgrade for a small amount (which I did). When I arrived, I was told that the housekeeper had not come in and I was being given another room with a King bed, for the same price. Unfortunately, in reality, I was downgraded. The room was old and tired. Yes, the bathroom had been redone, but the paint on the door was badly chipped, there was only one overhead light in the room (the second, over the bed, could not be used as the switch was located behind the high headboard). There had obviously been a water leak at some time (water stains on the ceiling, covered access planel was loose and out of place) and there was a moldy smell in the room. I turned on the bathroom fan, but that only made the moldy smell worse in the bathroom. For an overnight stop, it was just okay. Do I wish I had paid a bit more for something cleaner and more updated - YES! As other reviews said, it is basic and there are better options nearby.

Not a planned stop. Two star at most. Room was tired and the only thing stopping me from calling it grungy is that the shower, toilet, sink, some flooring and lights were updated. I had to dust off the headboard, however the bedding was clean though put on sideways! How does that happen...did whomever not notice that the top sheet head was not at the top of the bed and that the ties of the duvet cover were not at the end of the bed:(
Walls, baseboards, doors, AC not clean. Used Kleenex on the floor behind the mini fridge and bedside table (I had to search for a plug in to charge up my phone). All this does not make for a restful night sleep.
I would recommend finding something nicer.

Passing through for one night and did not want to spend over $300 as charged by some of the chain hotels. Read previous reviews and saw pictures of renovated rooms which looked ok. Not sure if our room was so shabby because we had a dog friendly room, but very disappointing. Holes in the rug, banged up walls, peeling door paint - a very tired, beat up room. I would not recommend!

We’ve stayed at this property in the past. I booked directly with the property because they quoted a cheaper rate than Trip Advisor… And we could cancel up to 24 hours before. Not much snow, so it wasn’t very busy. Hot tub worked. Parking was fine. Price was good. Beds were comfortable.

Stopped with the family for the night on the way to Vancouver from Grande Prairie. Reception was nice, rooms were clean and beds decently comfy. They also offered a fire pit with unlimited wood and bbq's with supplied propane. A nice touch to sit around and suck back a few cold ones after a long drive !

Rooms were filthy, front desk person seemed like we were a burden entering the office to get a room. Highly overpriced! She said she would give us a discount but it wasn’t reflected on our bill. We went to eat at their restaurant and gouged again! I’m a Hotelier and have owned some beautiful old hotels but they were clean and very comfortable and priced appropriately. I believe they jacked up their prices because of the road workers in the area. I used to have crews stay in my places and treated them very well, same price for rooms as normal. Made sure they had lunches and evening meals. Those crews spend money in a small town. They probably will find other accommodations next time, as will we.

Do yourself a favour and Don’t stay here unless yu like to pay 220 for 65 value! Room stunk of air freshener, whiskers and hair on the sink, mud on the walls and a large freight truck ran all night outside of our window after requesting to have it moved. This place is a big No!

I was pleasant with this motel as a stopover night stay. It is right beside the highway and close to Tim's, gas station and some restaurants. They also offered coin laundromat. The rooms were clean and spacious. I wouldn't mind staying there again for a stopover while doing a long drive.

After reading the bad reviews, I was concerned, but this was the only place available that takes dogs. However, it's clean, comfortable and has good a/c. Beds and pillows are comfy. Perfectly fine for a stopover encounter to Prince George.

C$100 a night for a dump. Old property, very dusty and dirty. Owner is nickel and diming.....Upon checkin, I was handed an 'instruction' sheet to follow:
-Do not turn AC under 70C
-Do not charge Cellphones and camera batteries
Power went out at 6pm, never did come back when I checkout the next morning, the WHOLE town was shut down... no food service at all. Owner did not even offer an apology.

Response from check09, manager at Valemount Vacation Inn

January. 2009 As new management company of this motel we would like to respond to your former complaints which have turned guests away even to this day. Fortunately, as January 2009, The Premier Mountain Lodge ands Suites has been under a complete demodulation because now we are part of the Magnuson Hotels one of the most important hotel independent franchise and we have to keep their standards. The requirements are very tight and we want to let you know that since your visit until now we have been working in every detail to bring up this property. We count now with little different kind of rooms to start with, we have standard rooms, 2QQ rooms, suite with Jacuzzi and also we have family rooms with 3, 4 and five QQ beds, During our renovations we have replace all the mattresses in our rooms, sheet rock, studs, recarpet, curtains, etc. were not covered or clean, but entirely replaced. It is true that in that time our rooms did not offered everything you mentioned. This issue has now been resolved, and all our renovated rooms offer: new coffee makers, a high quality Colombian coffee, fridge, microwave, hairdryer and clocks. Also we have increase the quality reception of our TV and increasing the number of channels available. We now have the Sarak Restaurant on site open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also count wit 24hrs surveillance. Finally, we have found that the best way to make a guest comfortable is to have nice and clean rooms. Upon acquiring the motel we hired new staffs that are very concern about keeping the rooms in the best conditions for our customers to enjoy
