Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Slightly weird room arrangement - location of bathroom with respect to the bedrooms. The place was clean enough, convenient to Blue Mountain and reasonably priced. There's a short walk down to a small beach at the lake. Again, nothing special, but somewhere to go after dinner.

Booked for 6 girls in late 20s just to sleep after a long day of winter activities. I contacted Dan at 12pm to request an early check in as our itinerary did not go as planned, however, there was no response- which is fine because I understand we're not entitled to this.

We checked in around 10pm and after settling, noticed that there was no hot water.  We also could not figure out how to use the heating system so the unit was cold. We contacted Dan at 11pm for assistance and he DID NOT RESPOND UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AT 8AM. Some girls were on their menstrual period and COULD NOT SHOWER FOR 2 DAYS because the water was freezing cold. We also had no choice but to sleep in the cold without heat since we received no assistance. When Dan responded at 8am the next day, he said the boiler was down and had sent someone at 12pm the day of our check in to fix it. Knowing that the boiler had already been down, the hosts should have been on alert in case anything were to happen.

Dan said he would be sendng a guy to fix it and to look out for a black Nissan. We had barely slept because of the cold and scrambled to get dressed since a strange man woud be entering the unit. When it took some time, we asked Dan where the person was, all to be told that the guy would be in the boiler room outside of the unit which he did not specify earlier. The hot water was back on around 10:15am and our check out was 11am.

To compensate, Dan offered us a 30 min extension to check out and a $50 cash refund or $100 off the next stay with them - a slap in the face. What makes them think we'd ever want to stay with them again? The whole experience was a nightmare. I filed a complaint and received a full refund right away.

Other minor issues include amentities that were listed and not present in the Airbnb: oil, hangers/a place to hang your jackets.
Imagine if we had our children with us and forced to sleep and bathe in the cold. A definite health and safety issue. Will never stay with them again and would never recommend to anyone.

As far as motels go, this was a cozy, clean and friendly place. Close to a private beach. The owner is friendly and very helpful with directions and faculties near by. It's by the main road so in the day you can hear the traffic.
