Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
We stayed for two nights at the end of August for a birthday weekend.
Staff were incredibly helpful in making arrangements for our stay including organizing bookings for the nearby Scandinave spa, a RMT and local floral arrangement. Spectacular organizers at the front desk left me having to worry about very little!
The onsite restaurant was also able to accommodate us for a delicious meal with no prior booking and on short notice, it was incredible.
Despite being short staffed our room was turned over on request after we came back from a full day of activities, very attentive service.
All in all this is a marvellously run, centrally located and genuinely charming hotel that wouldn’t be out of place offering this level of service for this price in any major city worldwide.

Our Dorchester Hotel weeeknd with friends was fantastic. The staff was amazing, the room was tastefully decorated to reflect the history of the building and had everything we wanted it even had a record player and records. Its located in downtown Collingwood making exploring the town easy. The hotel restaurant/bar which was wonderful closes early, it would have been nice if it was open a little longer. I would highly recommend a visit to this beautiful quaint boutique hotel for a "blast to the past". You wont be disappointed.

As a couple, we stayed in the deluxe king room and were thoroughly impressed. The modern bathroom with its amazing shower and bath, the Bluetooth record player with a selection of albums, and the Nespresso maker were delightful touches. Glassware already in the room added to the convenience. While I wish there had been more music options, it's more of a comment than a complaint. Looking forward, I hope to see a bar added to this already impressive establishment. The upcoming restaurant in the spring is exciting, but a lounge bar with a fireplace would elevate the experience even further. The design choices throughout the property, especially evident in the board room, are truly impressive. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this gem!

The room, lobby and parking are all top notch. What sort of made me think twice was the room key which was a link that was emailed to me. It was for the wrong room number compared to the room that I was assigned in the room access email. When we went to check in we talked to the front desk and they had a system problem which they over rode.

This little boutique hotel was amazing. My first time here and I will absolutely go back to Collingwood just to stay here. A retro esthetic, complete with in room record player and vinyl, throwback inspired mini fridge and decor. All the little details were thoroughly curated. Complete with robes and sachets of lavender on your pillow. Throw jn Karen, the best, most lovely front desk customer service rep I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. Completing off the great vibes were the bar/restaurant attached to the lobby. I wish we had booked 2 nights!

We had a two night stay in a Classic Room with a King Size bed. An old hotel that has been (is being) completely renovated and brought up to date. A beautifully modernised room with a retro feel with luxury. The hotel is well located on the main street in Collingwood, ideally placed for local restaurants and bars. No restaurant/bar in the hotel (although coming soon?) but many options for breakfast a short walk away. We had an issue on arrival as we could only get (really!) hot water and no cold, apparently due to ongoing plumbing work in relation to the new restaurant but this was quickly remedied and we were suitably compensated for the inconvenience. We would hope to return in any future trip in the area.

Well done on the restoration of this lovely historical property. It’s luxury and quintessential. Have everything you need.
The team was great and very well accommodate to our needs. Especially Karen.
It is well located on the high street of Collingwood, Ontario. Shopping, restaurant and bar within walking distance. We love the decor of the hotel. Will come back again.
Ps. Remember to walk down the high street and check out the Gibson & Co coffee & bar.

This hotel exceeded all expectations! Decor is glamorous yet comfortable. We enjoyed the kitchenette and the retro record player. The building and 30 rooms were completely renovated in Dec 2022. Would highly recommend you try this hotel if you’re in the area.

If we really like a place, we tend to go back fairly regularly and have no problem spending the extra money for a nice experience. This is not one of those places that we will be returning to.
We stayed at the Dorchester for 2 nights in October 2024.
Difficulty in reaching them:
I’ve never stayed at a hotel that is this difficult to reach, even as a current guest.
We tried calling on Friday night to ask some further questions (we were coming to stay the following day) but the phone kept ringing and ringing and we didn’t end up getting through.
When we arrived we were provided with an after hours line to call, however guests will likely have to use this line even during regular hours.
On Sunday - they were barely at the front desk. Later, tried calling the front desk at 6 pm (within the hours of their front desk service) but we never got through. Went to the front desk but no one was there. Had to call after hours line even though it wasn’t after hours. They picked up and said that no one was at the hotel, and that it would take at least an hour to get us a replacement tissue box and a paper towel roll because no staff were on site.
Rooms:
Our room (studio king) for the first night was a little small and noisy. We could hear other doors opening and closing, people walking by. Something woke me up during the middle of the night (it sounded like another guest) and I was unable to go back to sleep for several hours. The room is very beautifully decorated and modern. There was a heater right above the bed so that also added to an uncomfortable sleep.
Right after we arrived on saturday, we asked to switch rooms but they were full because of a wedding (understandable), so we asked to switch for the second night.
They asked us on Saturday to come back down on Sunday around 12 so they could show us the rooms that were available for the second night. That’s no problem, but they weren’t ready to show us any rooms until 1:30 pm on Sunday. We saw the rooms around 1:35, took a few minutes to decide and then we tried to contact the front desk around 1:50 pm to advise that we would like to switch rooms, but the phone kept ringing and ringing and they never picked up. We went down to the front desk and no one was there. Stood there for another 15 mins before someone came back. We didn’t get to move into the new room until 2:30 pm. This delayed our plans for the day. We were expecting 12 pm because that’s the what we were told.
The second room we moved into was the deluxe king room - more spacious, an amazing shower and freestanding tub. We could hear less noise from this room but the following morning we could still hear doors opening and closing. Again, I don’t think this is something that they can help but there was a moth that flew out of the cabinet next to the fridge (The king studio room, we saw a fruit fly flying around)
Staff
Staff were very friendly when we arrived on Saturday night (Monica and Rachel) and we felt welcomed.
staff on Monday morning (when we were leaving) were not friendly at all.

AMAZING!!! Stayed here for our anniversary. We were greeted by a super nice woman at the front desk upon our arrival. Then our room! Wow! Beautiful petals on the bed and heart shaped towels. Our room is beautifully designed (lots of ideas for my home!) and extremely comfortable. There is no room for improvement here! Everything was perfect!!
