Property's Favourite Review
We celebrated my spouse's 65 birthday this weekend at Highland Manor. Linda and Paul are generous, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area's art scene and walking trails. The B&B is not only beautiful, it's comfortable and relaxed. Our mission has become to buy a bed and pillows just like theirs. Absolute perfection.

My partner and I stayed at the Highland Manor in early March. It was beautiful. The home was extremely elegant and the hosts were very attentive. We loved having access to the house's two piano rooms to enjoy a glass of wine. There was also a lovely sitting nook in the hallway outside our room. The room cost was a great deal considering everything that came with it. We loved staying at the Highland Manor and would recommend it to anyone who is considering a trip to Owen Sound.

This bed and breakfast is an exquisite Victorian Mansion lovingly restored and decorated with abundant antiques. On the ground floor there is a stunning 'parlour' (sitting room with large TV), music room with grand piano, and stately dining room. The stunning interior architecture has been lovingly restored - there is so much to see and enjoy. Each bedroom has a uniquely beautiful decorating style.
The bed, and bedding are top quality together with peace and quiet contribute to excellent sleep. A working fireplace with optional nightly fire real fireplace make for delightful ambience.
Breakfast is served in an elegant dining room (also resplendent with antiques) consists of a daily unique fruit salad, a delicious hot entrée and bottomless pot of coffee (or tea).
Linda and Paul are the most welcoming and accommodating hosts EVER. Their home became our home while we were staying there. They are entertaining conversationalists, or respect the need for 'quiet time' of their guests. They made great recommendations for things to do and places to eat.
We had a really special getaway and would highly recommend The Highland Manor as a very special place to stay.

What a gem, in so many ways. We always search out Victorian B&Bs and this place is incredible - a VERY grand Victorian mansion perched on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment, just above downtown Owen Sound, so lovingly restored, certainly one of the best we've seen in our travels.
Linda and Paul are engaging, knowledgable and funny hosts. And did I mention the food? The breakfasts are INCREDIBLE, you couldn't get better in a 5-star restaurant, with recipes that I've never seen before. The lemon-souffle hotcakes are to die for.
We stayed 4 nights in the Ross Suite, and felt like royalty every time we returned from our daytrips exploring the Bruce Peninsula or enjoying the shops in the nearby downtown..

Hi Andrew! The time has flown since you were here, but we both just wanted to tell you again how much we appreciate both reviews that you have written for us, and the wonderful photos that you included. We truly are grateful when someone takes the time to do this for us. We just loved having the two of you here, and have said several times since you left that we couldn’t possibly have had nicer people as our first guests on re-opening. I know I talked way too much, but I thank you for understanding. Having two guests in the house for the first time after being closed for 15 months was sort of like opening the floodgates!!! We both thank both of you for all your kindness and do hope our paths cross again sometime. Linda and Paul

Just got back from spending 2 days at the Highland B & B and had a wonderful time. The hosts, Linda and Paul, are very attentive and ensure that their guests are looked after - fire logs for the in-room fireplace, top qualty bedding for the temper-pedic matresses and an excellent hot breakast in the morning. Excellent place to stay and highly reccomended in any season that you may visit.

The moment we arrived, we were welcomed by our hosts Linda and Paul and given the grand tour of this magnificent Victorian manor. We immediately felt at home , and enjoyed every minute of our stay… from the luxurious Ross room with our own private balcony and tempurpedic mattress bed , a scrumptious pancake breakfast with fresh fruit, along with wonderful conversation with our lovely hosts … all this in the most idyllic of places…we've never felt more spoiled! It is beyond obvious that Linda and Paul put their heart and soul into their home and they strive to ensure that their guests have a wonderful experience. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and how safe we felt during our stay here. Location is perfect as it is a 10 minute walk to downtown, restaurants and waterfront. We can’t wait to come visit again!

If you’re looking for accommodations in the Owen Sound, Ontario area, or if you’re just travelling through and need a place to stay, I highly recommend The Highland Manor. I spent four nights there, and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer place or a more congenial host.
I was in town for a wedding, and after looking at the listings for some of the hotels, including the highly rated Best Western Inn on the Bay, I decided to stay at The Highland Manor. I liked the idea of staying in a home-like setting, with fewer rooms than a hotel and more personalized service. The Inn is historic in architecture and design and the decorations evoke a time period from the past. I stayed in The Moore room, as I was travelling with my cousin, and we wanted a room with two beds. The room was immaculate, spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. We were given clean, soft fluffy bathroom towels daily, a far cry from hotel towels. I had an opportunity to look in the other rooms after guests had checked out, and they were all beautiful.
Breakfast was a highlight of our stay. The food was freshly prepared, depending on when we came down to eat, rather than being pre-cooked and waiting for us at a certain hour. We had seasonal fruit each morning of our stay, and our various breakfasts consisted of items such as pancakes (some of the best I’ve ever had), baked eggs and French toast. The portions were plentiful. One day, we also had a delicious cheese bread, made specifically for the inn by a local baker.
Linda, our host, was personable and friendly and had a wealth of knowledge of the area. She was extremely helpful regarding our needs or questions, and she made a point of asking if we had any special dietary restrictions or allergies, in addition to asking if there was anything we needed during our stay. It was so nice to chat with her. The inn, which is also her personal home, is beautifully appointed with period pieces We enjoyed sitting in the grand parlor/library where the TV is located, as well as the outdoor covered porch.
The Highland Manor is located in a nice, quiet residential area. We enjoyed walks in the neighborhood. When we went to the Best Western for wedding activities, we noticed it was in a more industrial area, and while it was located on Georgian Bay, we would not have felt comfortable walking outside the hotel perimeter in the evening.
I’m looking forward to my next stay in Owen Sound, and the Highland Manor will be the first place I call.

The time that we spent at the Highland Manor was indeed a beyond positive one! We had a family reunion that included a birthday party for a 90 year old who lived in Owen Sound in his youth. The Inn was our home away from home and we felt like it was OUR home for the time we were there. This home is a very enchanting and historic place to experience. Linda and Paul were the most accommodating and relaxed hosts that we have ever had. From the booking process to the herding of the family for delicious breakfasts full of fresh fruit and baked goodies, to meeting the needs of we elder folks, to the comforts of home from bedding to beautiful historic details in each room, to the stories they shared about the history of house and more and to the relief we felt when we didn’t have to carry our luggage up and down the staircase because the little elevator did it for us, to finding and (even booking once) places that would accommodate a large group for dinner, to the check out process, Linda and Paul aced it. I (Liz) even had a chance to do my fiddle orchestra and fiddle lesson on zoom in the music room which has the most fantastic acoustics! Truly a warm and inviting place to be!

My husband and I stayed overnight at the Highland Manor last week and honestly, one of the best nights away we've had in a very long time. The house is incredible! We loved learning about the history from our very gracious hosts. Our room was beautiful and the bed so darn comfortable - we were even able to enjoy a 'real' fire in the fireplace, you don't get that a your local chain hotel! Breakfast in the morning was delicious and it was wonderful to be able to spend a bit of time getting to know our hosts over coffee. Fabulous small town like charm in a beautiful heritage home. Definitely planning a girl's weekend this summer or fall - maybe both!! Highly recommend!!

Our stay at The Highland Manor this past weekend was truly amazing. Linda is a wonderful host, cook, story-teller and tour guide! Her love of and enthusiasm for the city of Owen Sound is contagious and we’re planning a return visit in the spring to explore more areas we didn’t have time for this trip. Linda is also very attentive to guests’ needs. We benefited from her knowledge of hiking trails, waterfalls and restaurants in Owen Sound. This added to our interest in the area we had never previously explored. The breakfasts were outstanding, our room was absolutely beautiful and the bedding and towels were soft and cozy!
This century old manor is kept meticulously in style, from furniture to decor and some interesting miniature collections on display. We highly recommend the Highland Manor for a stay in Owen Sound.
