The front desk staff were very pleasant and the lobby was very nice.
Would not stay there again. The pictures of rooms are not what any of seen on the computer.
the manager was very polite and professionnal. We even exchanged with her and she was quite pleasant. However from that moment on until our departure she was not there to supervise the desk personnel. Seeing us getting close to the desk, they would bend their head and pretend to do something. No Hello, Good morning or Have a nice day. Until our departure this morning December 4th, 3 young ladies and one male desk clerck never even looked at us. Arriving home, I checked my VISA card to fina a $ 100.00 charge on my card. I'm giving it a day or so to see if it was not a deposit in case of damages. It better not be there by Tuesday.
Booked based on the pictures, thinking it would be fine for an overnight stop.
From the parking area it looked a bit shaby, and the area none to friendly. Getting into the building, you notice immediately that it is scruffy, and seen better days.
There was a problem with our booking, and the receptionist in all fairness did her best to try and sort it as our booking had been canceled. Not necessarily their fault, but led to a long winded check in including phone calls to booking . com once sorted the hotel tried to charge double what I had originally paid for my first booking.
In the meantime my family were waiting and couldn't help but notice the state of the place. Dusty, Cobwebs all over the place generally grubby, tatty carpets. Enough of a bad 1st impression to change our minds and go elsewhere.
Coincidentally while looking for a place to eat, we met a few locals, who without knowing we'd booked or had planned to stay there, told us "Whatever you do, do not book the Econo Lodge." Wise words I think.
This grungy place is tucked away behind a factory - you need to use an alley to get to it.
When we arrived, there was Noone at the desk. He showed up after 5 or 10 minutes. Our room smelled strongly of urine and smoke. He couldn't give us another room as they were full. He gave us a can of air freshener. It didn't help. Pigeons cooing through the night - when you go to shoo them you see all their feces that has been built up and not cleaned. Another tenant told me he had more than we did.
My daughter went down to get a new key for us, as ours stopped working. The guy at the front desk didn't ask for any ID or anything. She could have gotten a key for any room. I walled up then and he saw I was with her - I never met him before and he handed me the keys no questions.
I walked thr other floors to see if they smelled too. Yup. But they had big stains on the ground.
Public health officials need to shut it down.
Do yourself a favor and don't go here. Drive to Perth or Kingston if you have to.
Price. However that and the name of the hotel should have been my first clue!!!
Don’t be fooled by the pictures!
If I read reviews before we would not have booked.
Who doesn’t want to come home from a weekend away to do full bedbug protocol.
"Lots dogs there - always good to know dog friendly places (but I wouldn't my dog staying there)"Read full review
