First room I was given smelled like it was obviously smoked in and the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag. Luckily I noticed and was able to change rooms right away without much hassle. If I hadn't noticed the plastic on the smoke detector or asked to switch rooms I may have been charged the penalty for the previous guest smoking in the room. After this issue I had two comfortable nights and then returned a few days later for an additional night without any issues. Overall good value and I would recommend this hotel.

I Have stayed at the two Richmond sandman hotels for business several times a year.. found rooms clean and quiet each stay ... hotel has a good meeting facility and always plenty of parking. We stayed this Xmas season and used the park and ride rate , shuttle worked great for us and avoided having to park at the airport....Would recommend for a short stay near the airport

Very nice spacious room, quiet, black out curtains. Coffee pot was a tiny one that takes an odd packaged coffee. With the fridge and microwave one could take care of some better drinks and snacks. Clean and the free parking is great. If you are planning a trip around Vancouver, take a bus or taxi, driving is crazy there and parking is about 4-5 per hour. Richmond has good places to eat.

We arrived late at the hotel but received a warm welcome from Laushay. He gave us a free upgrade to the penthouse. The service provided is superb and he clearly understands customer's need. This gives me a very positive impression of the Sandman group. We will definitely book with this group in the future.

This visit marked our 20th anniversary and we had chosen sandman to celebrate it. Overall, we were happy with the stay but would also like to point out the pros and cons of the hotel. The hotel is huge and I think there is 400+ rooms, so it is difficult to navigate within the hotel. The people at reception and room cleaning were very polite and courteous with their approach. The free parking was a bonus considering other hotels charge for this basic service. The chop restaurant was great, it was value for money. The bad part about this hotel is that it is run by just one person from cleaning department in the evening. My request took almost an hour and the person mentioned that he was the only person on shift, this made me feel bad. Is the management sleeping, how can they leave one person for 400+ room hotel, this is completely inhuman. In definitely going to provide this feedback to the CEO. The rooms also need a major overhaul, a fixture was broken when we checked in. I found out later that the Starbucks is open until 11am, the time should be at least till the evening. I will return to this property if these points are addressed. Otherwise, my family and kids enjoyed the stay.

You need to double check your room over all before unpacking, check the bed leveling, sink faucet, bathtub faucet, to make sure they are in right angle and function probably. If not report to front desk cause day/house keeping will not report and leave as us.

My room was obvious with a bed on angle, header lower about 5 degree and foot is higher. The sink faucet on a wrong angle that hard to turn on water and even to adjust hot/cold.

We tried to call the hotel when we arrived in town. Each time which was 5x's the phone rang and rang then the call was dropped. When we checked in we provided our license plate and type of vehicle. The first night there was a lot of noise coming from people outside and traffic. In the morning we realized the bathroom fan didn't work and there was blood on the curtain. My husband let the front desk know about both issues and he was assured while we were gone for the day these issues would be resolved. We returned that evening to find a ticket on our vehicle that we took to the front desk. They took the ticket and told us not to worry about it.
We went to our room, the bathroom fan still didn't work and they attempted to spot clean the blood on the curtain but it still wasn't clean. There weren't any fresh towels or facecloths, the coffee and paper cups were not restocked, we called the front desk for coffee and cups for the next morning and a staff brought some to the room. Staff had been in our room to attempt to clean the curtain but did not replenish anything.
Certainly did not have a pleasant stay. You can overlook somethings but not a list of disappointments that weren't resolved.

I booked the place through a park n sleep site as we needed to leave our vehicle for 10 days and it made sense and was an overall reasonable price. I have stayed here before several years ago and it was decent. However, this time both coming and going I was thoroughly unimpressed. The rooms are old and tired, and that doesn't bother me as it was just a place to crash before and after a trip, and I can do old and tired if clean and comfortable. The free shuttle to and from airport was amazing and on time. The staff were all pleasant and check in was quick both times. On the first stay, the toilet leaked all over the floor on each flush. We had to use one of the towels to wrap around the bowl for the time we were there. It was a fair bit of water too, like enough that any maintenance person or housekeeping staff would notice for sure. On our return from our holiday, we arrived very late and were so tired. When we got into the room it smelled like a wet dirty sponge. The windows were all fogged up and the humidity was very high. Why? The hot water was running in the tub / shower and we couldn't turn it off. It was a steady stream. We shut the door bathroom door, opened the balcony door and went to sleep. In the AM, my wife had a miserable shower of huge temperature swings, and by the end of it we couldn't get the water to even be warm. It was all hot and we couldn't adjust the handle to get it shower temperature. I was in the plumbing business, and this is an issue with the shower valve cartridge system and can be fixed fairly easily by a plumber or maintenance staff. We had to move to another room to be able to have our other two showers and the front desk staff was helpful to make that happen. What bothered me the most, is that these things are not big issues to fix and should never have been left. I can't and won't believe that management was unaware of these issues and if they are, then there is a breakdown of communication between housekeeping, maintenance and management. We won't stay there again. Because of the room change we missed our ferry to the island and it caused a 3 hour delay on our return home. Do better management!

A very disappointing experience at a hotel that we both once loved. After paying nearly 400$ for a one night stay while stranded in Vancouver during winter snow chaos, we arrived late following nearly 20 hours of travel. We learned from the front desk staff that all restaurants were closed, there was no room service or mini bar or ability to order food from anywhere nearby due to the isolated location. Our baggage had been lost by the airline, and when we asked the hotel for a toothbrush and other toiletries (they claim to be an airport hotel, so one must assume they are used to helping those affected by travel troubles), they said none were available. When we made it up to the room and attempted to shower, the hot water ran out and turned ice cold and never warmed back up. The staff were unsympathetic, and I can only assume it is because their employer is as careless and unhelpful to them as they were to us. I would never return to this venue and would suggest that others choose one of the other many options nearby. It’s hard to imagine these other options wouldn’t be significantly better.

We had booked for 2 nights. When we arrived into Vancouver we tried to call 5 times. Every call the phone rang a longtime and then it would disconnect. When we checked in we registered our vehicle and license plate with the hotel. The second day we found a parked ticket on our vehicle that we took to the front desk. They said it would be okay. The second day my husband went to the front desk to let them know there was blood on the curtain, our bathroom fan did not work and could we please have softer pillows. They assured him it would be taken care of while we were out. We returned to our room that evening they spot cleaned the curtain but it still had blood on it, bathroom fan still did not work and they left flat pillows. No fresh towels, garbage still full, no new paper coffee cups, lids, stir sticks or coffee. I did call the front desk and a staff brought up 2 paper coffee cups and 2 coffee pouches.
Bring your ear plugs because you can hear the traffic clearly through the window. Around the door in the evening you can see the light from the hallway not soundproof at all. The room had a very musty smell to it.
Definitely would not stay ever again. We certainly let our relatives know not to stay or recommend this hotel. Customer service was lacking so much. You do not say you will rectify a problem and do absolutely nothing.
By far the worst experience we have encountered in staying at any hotels in our travels.

There is zero supervision there so have fun and great waterside. Hottub has mould so don't get in eyes!!

Sorry I didn't see your question. The shuttle leaves the hotel on the half hour and hour. Depending on the time of your arrival, you could call the hotel to see when it arrives at YVR. But it makes scheduled pick ups all day long.
