My family stayed in 2 rooms on the 28th December as we were going to a party in the area. The rooms were the smallest we have stayed in outside of central London. The furnishings and décor were of poor quality and it smelled damp. My son asked to borrow an iron and board and was told that he would have...

Dropped in here for a proper meal before arriving yesterday at Kendall Calling after a long drive from Nottingham. Place is recently done up according to Pete the landlord, looks great. Been to the Lakes before and can be v.pricey in these quirky country pubs, but was nice to see specials under a tenner. We had Goan Curry and a...

Stopped here with my Husband on the spur of the moment. The pub and rooms have recently been done up and the place looks really quirky. We had a lovely meal of local cumberland sausage and tried the local ales and lake district Gin. Will definitely be back

I was expecting the pub to be on top form after receiving flyers through the letter box...only to be disappointed. There were only 3 main courses to choose from and only 2 desserts. I find if there is a limited menu, the dishes are good quality, however, my friends steak and chips looked very greasy and my curry was very...

Called for a drink and decided to have a meal - what a disappointment. Struggled to find a bottle of beer I liked ended up with a pint of Fosters which was reasonable. Ordered fish and chips - disappointed how small it was - more like a child's portion - left the pub still hungry. Also ordered steak and ale...

Great interior, friendly service and good food. the steak was tender, flavorful and very reasonably priced. The new owner is friendly and helpful and the service staff attentive. We are delighted to see this lovely old world pub reopened and with a fresh take.

Just a basic pub with basic pub tables etc. The atmosphere was not at all what we had expected although the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was OK but very overpriced for very basic pub grub and the menue had very few choices. We were surprised to find that dogs are allowed into the eating area which...

Stopped in the lovely village of Askham for lunch at this pub. Very friendly service. Nice to find a good selection of vegetarian food. We had the sharing platter, halloumi cheese, hummus, crusty bread, salad, olives, butternut squash - delicious. We sat outside enjoying the sun and a nice beer.

Myself and family visited on Sunday after visiting the pool , Really cool looking place ,not your usual lakes village pub. Loads of vintage stuff and wooden toys for the kids to play with . Unfortunately we didn't manage to get Sunday lunch but they were giving away tasting boards off the menu ,if carling made scotch eggs then these...
