Stayed at the Holiday Inn in 2 occasions during our trip to NZ. Central location close to Queen St. and within walking distance to shops, restaurants and attractions such as Sky Tower, Albert Park, Britomart and the pier area.

Modern and well appointed rooms with functional ammenities that served well for the purpose of our trip (leisure). Self-laundry facilities available. Breakfast buffet included in room rate served at the great room, where a drinking water faucet is available 24x7 to refil one's reusable bottle.

This hotel is on a very steep street in the middles of the block. The check in desk is on the 2nd floor. You take either an elevator or escalator up. There is no escalator down just stairs or elevator. The king bed room we booked was very small as well as the bathroom. The bathroom had a weird design where the glass wall of the shower stall was the wall that was right next to the bed. It did have frosted glass and there was a LED nightlight (which you cannot turn off) that shown thru the glass wall and it was quite bright, too bright. I put my carryon in front of the nightlight to reduce the amount of light into the room. The door of the shower, when opened, was the door to close off the bathroom for privacy.
The breakfast buffet was the exact same food every morning. We stayed 3 nights before our cruise. Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, breads, mini muffins, cereals. Yogurt was in a large bowl, canned fruit , sometimes bananas and apples, when they didn’t run out. This was a super packed hotel and the breakfast room was always crowded. They had a couple of speciality coffee machines and there was always a line for coffee. You could get just a regular cup of coffee also. The staff had a hard time trying to constantly replenish the food as there were so many people eating at the same time.

We enjoyed our recent 3 night stay here . We arrived with luggage for a 5 week fly drive tour and had no issue with storage .
The servicing issue was a surprise but not a deal breaker - it’s not exactly tricky to ask for tea and coffee when you run out . We also asked for clean towels which were supplied and the cleaner had emptied the bin when we returned .
We have had same staffing issues at lots of our hotel stays whilst in New Zealand so not too unusual . The hotel is in a great location. We literally parked the car next door ( albeit for an eye watering 35 a day ( no exits once in ) and walked . Very close to all the sites and a fantastic view from our window ( room 1505 )
Ok breakfast , hot and cold but coffee machine issues as others have commented on .
Would recommend hotel

A good hotel if you just want space to sleep . Rooms are clean and tidy and staff are friendly . Breakfast is terrible and very limited… I wouldn’t call it a buffet breakfast- most of the trays are empty. The eggs are like jelly and the bacon looks weird , almost as if half was boiled and the other half over cooked.
Stayed for 4 nights and got clean towels and a clean room only once … tried calling reception numerous times with no luck , called housekeeping numerous times no answer, called room service and they finally answered - when I asked to speak to someone from reception as I needed clean towels - I was told sorry they are too busy to attend to me. I was staying with kids so clean towels was a non negotiable.
I understand it being a new hotel but basic processes and procedures need to be in place before opening … and if you are accepting bookings then ensure you have enough staff.
Also there is no room service , you order food and need to pick it up from reception.
Definitely not up to the Holiday Inn standard.

Parking more expensive, check in was good that was the only thing that was good, breakfast was average we went down for breakfast @ 8:30ish was hardly anybody but egg tray (warmer) was empty there was waitress around, it a self serve hotel. Room was very small, shower water pressure not t strong i take 3 mins shower with a good water pressure shower but here it took me nearly 10mins to shower, Tamaki Makaurau are trying to save water so we should take 4 mins for shower. Dinner was average as well. So whole staying average.

Entering the hotel it looks well designed and furnished. The parking next door was too low for my vehicle which isn’t the hotels fault, fortunately we parked on the street right outside the entrance for just over $20 for the night which was good value. Taking the lift to reception on the second floor the area doubles as the bar with the restaurant just off to the side. It looks clean, fresh and modern. The lady on reception was quick and effective and got us checked in quickly. Going up to our room on the 12th floor the rooms are on the smaller side but well appointed with everything you need. At first glance the rooms look spotless but once you have been there a few minutes you start to notice some obvious areas that have been neglected, what appears to be mould already in the grout. When I finally went to get into bed I pulled back the sheets and there was just a duvet inner, no sheet between the bed and duvet inner, staff seemed confused I wanted a sheet between myself and the uncovered inner. The breakfast was good and fresh orange juice was a welcome start to the day. The bathrooms were interesting, standing in the shower you could not see into the bedroom through the glass wall, but from the bedroom you could clearly see the person showering, a unique feature designed for what purpose??….
A few minor issues wouldn’t cause a low score, so why did I score so low? Staying in a Saturday night, 12 floors up and we could hear the music from a local club clearly over our TV, 5.02am and finally they turned it off, but by 5.07am you could hear the patrons in the street, unfortunately at 5.22am the music returned briefly for 2 minutes, why build a new hotel and not ensure a good nights sleep can be had by all? Surely they have heard of soundproofing? This hotel had a lot going for it but failed on the most important area of being able to sleep. For this reason I do not recommend staying here, there are plenty of hotels in central Auckland that you can get a good nights sleep, this unfortunately isn’t one of them. Midweek you may be ok but on a weekend there are a number of hotels all within walking distance that have much better soundproofing.

The rooms are small, with little storage for more than one person. A major problem is almost a complete absence of service. In our four days here our room was never serviced such that we had to take out her own trash, go downstairs to get towels, toilet paper, etc. The management attributed this to the inability to get employees, but we didn’t see this problem elsewhere in New Zealand. Another issue is the ungainly entrance to the hotel, where you have to take an escalator or stairs, to an elevator that takes you up one additional floor to the check-in desk. The elevator from the street to the first floor was not working during our stay, which made luggage a problem. These problems have apparently existed since the hotel was first opened earlier this year.

Lovely modern rooms and we were lucky to get a harbour and tower view. Loved the nightlight in the bathroom great idea. Free breakfast included was a bonus, simple but good. Downside was parking. Rarely take a car to a cbd but this carpark was limited spaces which we knew but also very tight turns up all 6 levels. $45 a night parking via the hotel they can stamp your ticket so it's cheaper but if you don't need the car don't use it. Many spaces are for company use only.
The lobby was very busy Saturday as we checked in and it was a but manic and not the best experience but the staff did well. Overall a good central position. If you need extras for the room you just need to ring and head down to the lobby to collect.

Brand new hotel, so everything is clean and tidy. Room was spacious and the staff were lovely and very friendly.
Unfortunately there is a bright green light in the ceiling, which looks to be from a smoke alarm or some kind of detector. It’s unbelievably bright and casts a glow in the room, which meant that it was impossible to get the room dark enough to sleep comfortably. The blackout blinds are great, unfortunately they were pointless due to the brightness of that little green light.
If you are someone who needs a dark room to get to sleep then I would suggest booking elsewhere.
Unfortunate because we enjoyed all other aspects of our booking.

A nice room but very unhelpful staff. There was no coffee in my room and when I rang reception at 7am to ask if they could bring a few sachets up, the receptionist said no, you can come down and get it yourself, or wait until your room is serviced this afternoon. Really???? I'd just gotten out of the shower! I asked if coffee was usually provided in the rooms, and she said 'yes, but as I said, you are welcome to come and get it yourself'. Very, very unimpressed with this level of hospitality. Not what I would expect from a Holiday Inn. It would have taken less than a minute. Very disappointing.
