Highest recommendations for Parituhu, everything was wonderful. The house is beautiful with a pretty garden and a great water view, it is located with in a few minutes walk to the ferry and the center of quaint Devonport with its shops and cafes. Lindsay and Helen are wonderful hosts and delightful to talk to and learn more about anything New Zealand and Maori culture. Helen can also provide airport pick-up/drop-off and custom tours. Stop searching, you have found the best B&B to stay at.

What a beautiful start for us in NZ. Lindsay and Helen are the warmest host and made us feel confortable instantly. The house is super charming with a Bayview and a cosy garden. The location is in one of the nicest district around Auckland with all commodities nearby.
Don't scroll, you found your piece of heaven!

We booked to stay at Parituhu over Christmas 2005 as part of our 5 month trip away and had a truely memorable time. We were blown away by the care and attention to detail the owners gave during our 4 night stay. We had spent one night in a luxurious hotel in the middle of Auckland city ( and wish we hadn't bothered), then went to stay in Devonport - a most gorgeous quaint alternative to the city with fantastic transport links - a 10 min ferry ride got us straight into city centre Auckland! Our double room was very comfortable as was the private bathroom with bath and power shower. We were served a beautiful breakfast from the front of the bungalow which overlooks the waterfront and city of Auckland - a great way to start the day. We enjoyed a Christmas Day swim 300 metres from the Bungalow and also spent time relaxing on their sunny deck - fantastic! We would stay at this place (if given the chance!) time and time again - brilliant value for the $100 NZD price tag.

We stayed at this B and B for two nights and loved it so much we returned a few nights later after visiting other areas. Lyndsey and Helen are lovely hosts and wide ranging conversations over a great breakfast added to the real pleasure of our stay. Great comfortable room and very nice bathroom. A home from home.

Devonport is a short ferry ride from Auckland and a complete contrast in atmosphere - a gentile Edwardian seaside resort with excellent restaurants for lunch and evenings .It was our favourite part of NZ.

Based on TripAdvisor reviews we made our reservations at the Parituhu Beachstay.

The problem then became our arrival time – our flight from San Francisco was to arrive in Auckland at 5:00 am. I knew that would be too early to check-in to the B&B, so planned to get a hotel near the airport. We would check in, shower and get some "real" sleep after the flight. And then check-in to the B&B in the afternoon.

Well, Lyndsay and Helen would have none of that! They said it would be no problem to check in early in the morning AND they would even come to the airport to pick us up! It all worked very smoothly and we were able to check-in, clean up and get a nap before heading out to explore. Yes, there was a charge to be picked up, but it was far less than had we gotten a hotel for part of a day and then taxied to the B&B.

Devonport is directly across the bay from Auckland – and a perfect place to stay. Devonport is a lovely little village and far from the hustle-bustle of big-city Auckland. It is also away from the hordes of cruise-ship passengers that descend on Auckland. On the other hand it is a mere 10 minute crossing on the ferry, so it is easy to explore Auckland from Devonport.

Helen and Lyndsay couldn't have been finer hostesses. As world-travelers themselves, they know how to properly care for their guests. The home is very comfortable and looks out over the bay. The bed is comfortable and even more so with the air-dried linens. Breakfast was ample and tasty.

We can't say enough about our hostesses! They were over the top in taking care of us, giving recommendations on walks, sites to see and restaurants to enjoy – and those to avoid. They even did our laundry while we were out!

You won't go wrong staying at the Parituhu Beachstay!

If you're planning to visit the Auckland area, Devonport is the best home base…and Parituhu is the ideal place to stay. Gorgeous harbourside location, with comfortable/spotlessly clean accommodations, and warm, welcoming hosts. We loved the ease of jumping on the ferry to visit Auckland museums, and we were always happy to know we'd return to the peace and serenity of Devonport at the end of the day. We did excursions to Rangitoto and Coromandel, and they were lovely, but best of all was returning to our new home-away-from-home and the comfort of being cared for so beautifully by Lyndsay and Helen. I celebrated my birthday while here, and I was even greeted at breakfast with a lovely card, chocolate, and a heavenly breakfast. Don't even consider staying anywhere else!

Stayed for 1 night and I'd mirror all the positive comments below. Nice older 'colonial' bungalow in excellent order right on the sea front. Minutes away from passenger ferry to downtown Auckland. Good shops, cafe's etc. very close. Devonport is a lovely salubrious suburb, fantastic older properties all well cared for. Great place to escape the bustle of the city, with fantastic views of Auckland from North Head.
I'm not going to gush too much, but the owners know how to run a B&B properly!!
Paul.

We arranged to stay at Parituhu Bed & Breakfast Beachstay for our pre-cruise (2 nights) and post-cruise (5 nights) accommodations. This was our very first trip to New Zealand, so were unsure of where to stay and simply rolled the dice and based our decision from on-line reviews.

Well? we could not have made a better choice! First of all, the hospitality provided by Lyndsay & Helen was amazing. Beautiful ladies who could not do enough for us. We were so sad to leave them after only 2 nights, but were excited to “return home” after our cruise for another five nights.

As a travelling couple, it was the perfect accommodations for us. Our room was set apart from the rest of the house via a hallway. We had our own private bathroom within the area. We were invited to sit outside and enjoy the gardens and also to relax in the living space adjacent to the gardens.

Breakfast was always a delectable treat, prepared with love by Lyndsay.

Helen, as a licensed tour driver was able to pick us up and drop us off at the airport throughout our travels. She also took us out on a day trip to the Muriwai Gannet Colony (west coast) and a brief visit to Brick Bay. We loved our adventures with her!

Devonport was the “perfect” place to reside pre/post cruise. The ferry wharf was a 5-7 minute walk from Parituhu and Auckland was easily accessible. Lyndsay provided us with “HOP” cards which we could use for discounted ferry fares and easy swipe on/off the ferries. We were away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but were within easy reach (10 minutes) via the very efficient and frequent ferry services.

When we returned post-cruise and stayed for five nights, we easily took day trips to Tiritiri Matangi, Rangitoto, Rotoroa, and the Coromandel (again via the excellent ferry system).

We absolutely loved our stay and would return back to Parituhu in a heartbeat if we should ever be blessed to visit Auckland area in the future.

We met Helen & Lyndsay as strangers, and left as friends. We are truly blessed.

"I believe that there is only one guest room, which was very comfortable and had a more than adequate dedicated bathroom adjacent. We were also openly invited to make use of the family living spaces, which were open plan with pretty panoramic views of the Devonport waterfront, over the Bay towards Auckland (an interesting view with ample opportunity for people-watching)."
