We recommend this hotel as a very pleasant place to stay. The staff were welcoming and the hotel was absolutely charming. The location is a few minutes walk from the ferry and only about 10 minutes from downtown Auckland by ferry. A great place to relax and unwind with beaches nearby, shops and cafes. Our room was very comfortable with...

Hi and many thanks for your feedback its much appreciated. Yes it is a very old hotel and takes a bit of upkeep. But I am really pleased you enjoyed your time here. I note your comments about the chocolates. We did change suppliers for the rooms but maybe its time to have another look. Thanks again for your kind...

The bar is nice and very relaxed. There is a fireplace and they have different events such as life jazz music, quiz nights etc. The food is very delicious and the staff is extremly friendly. I really enjoyed it here and will come back again! :-)

End of week overnight stay and breakfast only. Room was clean and well presented but some maintenance is needed on the old-fashioned sash window as they rattle with the slightest air movement when left open and the room gets stuffy if closed up. Very spacious bathroom with plenty of space to accommodate a chair to use when getting dressed. The...

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. Checking in was very easy and a lift available to our 2nd floor room. The guy who checked us in was somewhat surly ( he also mans the bar). Our room was lovely. Spacious and comfortable with a fantastic bathroom. Awesome shower! Good toiletries well stocked on the first day but the second...

The big old hotel has always fascinated in all the years I have travelled to Auckland and had to catch the ferry to wonderful Devonport, so this time I decided to stay, and I am pleased I did. Just a back room, no sea view, but still special. Beautifully restored old hotel, few creaks and groans which is to be...

We were with friends on a tour of Devonport and stopped here for lunch. We sat outside and had a lovely time. The food was fine and the service friendly although a bit slow because the staff had to go back and forth throught the hotel to the kitchen.

Many thanks for your review, your comments help us to improve. As its an old hotel (113years) the hotel is divided into rooms rather than the modern long barn type restaurants. It has its charm but also it is challenging to work in, thanks again Grantcheers

This is an older hotel, updated, with a very personal feel. Staff is very nice and friendly. The breakfast (made to order - no buffet) is absolutely outstanding. (The coffee needs improvement, but that is the ONLY minus.) The bed and shower were excellent. The ferry to Auckland CBD is a stone's throw from the front door. (Get an AT...

From the day I checked in, I knew this place was special! This is down to the not only very professional but welcoming staff! Would recommend to anyone travelling the area, including those going to the city, wanting somewhere away from the buzz and busyness of Auckland's CBD... Only $12 for a return to Devonport, you can even see the...

Lovely food, portions not too big but nice size. Cooked to perfection. Service a bit slow, although one female waitress obviously was put out due to a question asked by one of our party, but all the others were lovely. Average prices. This hotel has a lovely old world feel and look to it, clean and well presented. We didn't...

Charming old hotel. Had a Flagstaff room (the cheapest) with a cheap deal through wotif.com which was nice with an olde worlde sort of charm - nothing flash but very pleasant. The bathroom was big modern and spacious. Only negative was no wardrobe so nowhere to hang clothes, and no robes. (I suspect there was a wardrobe but it was...
