We visited this castle today and were very impressed with the tour and the value for admission. Our guide was Peter and he did a fabulous job explaining the history of the castle as well as the functionality of the rooms we saw. We were impressed with how realistic the restoration was as well. Excellent Tour and not to be missed!

4 of us on a cycle tour stayed last night and also had a meal. We all agreed there is nothing that could have been better. Beautiful building & rooms, plenty of books and games, friendly and welcoming service (including looking after us wet cyclists and our bikes). Would thoroughly recommend the meal (bring your own bottle)- we had a 3 course vegetarian meal and it was fresh and delicious- as was the breakfast. We all wanted to stay and will come back.

We had a great family stay (2 rooms) at the Ross Castle. Jackie was a wonderful hostess. The rooms were great. Nice grounds. Interesting rooms to explore. We also found the nearby Loughcrew Cairns great exploring. We were quite surprised to find an enormous white cow blocking the single lane road at night when returning from the pub. As much as he surprised us, we apparantley and literally scared the sh_t out of him, too. Highly recommended accommodations.

I cannot say enough good things about the Ross Castle in County Meath, the accommodations were awesome, as modern as could be in this castle tower while still renting the castle feeling... but don’t plan on carry large luggage up the stairs but they do help you out! Food was great, the dinner was wonderful, thanks Vanessa!! Hospitality was phenomenal, Thanks Tina!! And we did get to feed the fox and got awesome video of it. If I was to visit central, east or Northern Ireland I would definitely base camp from there and do day trips. Also the recommendation for Caffeys in Old Castle was great!

A marvelous piece of history, that survived Cromwell's cannons, centuries of neglect, and is still here, now gorgeously repaired and refurbished, filled with beautiful furnishings, oceans of books, and hosted by the wonderfully kind Jackie. We booked for two glorious nights and I wish we were still there right now. We stayed in the top floor of the tower, Sabina's room, and the four flights of stairs were worth every step; the views from the windows are breathtaking, and I cannot remember the last time I slept so deeply; the bed is very comfortable. All the rooms are gorgeous, though; you wouldn't go wrong with any of them, and there are lovely first floor ones for those who don't want to do stairs. The food, both breakfast and dinner, was wonderful- my nine-year-old proclaimed, "the best soup I ever ate" and our stuffed roast and cauliflower with cumin were heaven. We booked our room with no idea of what to do in the area, but not to worry; Jackie kindly provided a map with things to do and see- County Cavan Museum was a wonderful afternoon trip we'd have never known about without her. Our nine-year-old loved walking to the shore of Lough Sheelin to explore. The name means "fairy pool" and the electric blue dragonflies everywhere certainly made it feel magical. Our second night the skies cleared and we went out after dark to look up at the sky, filled with stars (we saw a few shooting stars, too). Ross Castle is a magical, peaceful, beautiful escape in gorgeous County Meath, and will for sure be a must-stay for us the next time we come to Ireland.
