Moonah Links is arguably one of the most comprehensive golf resorts in Victoria. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, Moonah Links is situated in the heart of the Cups Country, a region renowned for golf and drawing favourable comparisons to the Monterey Coast in California. Moonah Links Resort might be known for its award-winning championship golf courses but whether you’re playing golf or not you’ll be made welcome. This is also a resort paradise where everyone is embraced. In the clubhouse, Spike Bar is the place for coffee, drinks, and casual dining. Pull up a plush leather seat and take in the stunning views of the 18th fairway while enjoying a cocktail made using locally distilled spirits. The extensive drinks list caters for all tastes, including a selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Pebbles restaurant is where the culinary magic happens. Head Chef, Dipen Patel brings an international flair to his a la cart menu. Dipen relishes in offering diners with the best seasonal produce, meat and seafood prepared with great thought and care. You might find dishes flavoured with traditional Indian spices that reflect Dipen’s heritage, or fresh herbs and garnishes such as saltbush or nasturtium from the Moonah Links’ very own kitchen garden. Forget any limited notion you have of ‘golf club dining’. Moonah Links is taking things to new heights. For a relaxing getaway, book into our luxury accommodation. Moonah Links offers 70 deluxe rooms and suites, all with balconies or terraces overlooking the stunning golf courses or central putting green. Each room features natural materials, clean lines and earthy Australian tones with the stylish furnishings and fittings. Detailed Reviews
We often head down to Mornington Peninsula whenever we need a short break and this time we have chosen Moonah Link for our stay.
The ground is immaculate, the reception staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, and food at the restaurant was tasty.
We booked a one-bedroom suite, which is supposed to give us view of the fairway or putting green/swimming pool, but the room we received was on the ground floor, tucked in the corner, giving us minimal view of the putting green. This is fine, as the room is nice on first inspection and we weren’t planning on spending too much time in the room anyway.
On closer look, house keeping really needs to put more attention with the cleanliness of these rooms: mugs were filthy, spiderwebs in corners of the room, black mould on blinds, dustpan placed on top of the dish rack, and, to top it, a “curly” on the toilet before we used it.
Lastly, if you are looking for a hotel where you could get a nice sleep maybe go elsewhere or try asking for a room on the upper level. There was a group staying in the room above us and I could hear them partying and playing till 2am in the morning.

The room was clean, including under the beds and on the cupboards, and was pleasantly lit and kept to a perfect temperature for my arrival with my daughter. Ordering room service was fine. Beds were comfortable, and the view was perfect for a relaxing cup of tea on the balcony. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of options available, poached eggs were perfect. We overheard another couple making sarcastic comments based on a slight delay on getting gluten free toast, which made me realise how many negative reviews would be based on impatient elitist self entitlements, since anyone we encountered was genuine and friendly, and would admit to any little mistake and make amends straight away. Which is all anyone can ask for really.
The decor is modern yet not stark or uncomfortable with minimalism, I noted that many areas are thought out with easy to maintain and clean surfaces.
Requests were met, and emails responded too.
(My single feedback would be to check the settings on the coffee machine, to allow a guest to make their coffee it more or less strong. It only seems to give us the option after it started making a coffee).
Overall a pleasant stay, and hope to come stay again soon! Thank you :-)

The resort is tired and it appears there has been no money spent on it for many years. It would have been glorious in its day but since 20 years later it is not.
Clearly the management is mean spirited about keeping the maintenance up and this goes onto its dealings with its guests. The smoke alarm went off in the middle of the night and kept me awake for an hour. No apologies and nothing offered. No communication at all! When I approached reception and directly asked they offered one breakfast OR a late check out. REALLY?? An hour in the morning is not equivalent TO ONE HOUR AT 3am of SLEEP!

In a recent trip to the Mornington Peninsula, we opted to stay at the Peppers Moonah Golf Links Resort for 3 nights. After the online reservation was complete (3 months ahead of the trip), we phoned the hotel to specifically ask for a room with a view of the golf course. We were assured that we will get a room with a good view. But when we arrived, really tired after a long drive, we got a room on the basement level (#3) that overlooked the golf course, but the view was covered by all kinds of trees/shrubs. The hotel website doesn’t mention it- Moonah rooms are in a separate building, on three levels, and this building has no elevator. So, we had to carry your luggage down a narrow staircase which was not covered overhead, and as it was raining, it was slippery. The room also looked very dated and was rather small. That was disappointment #1.
After dinner at the resort, I had a shower- no problem, but when my partner went in, after the first 5 minutes, the shower ran out of hot water (this was in July). We called the reception and were advised that the geyser in each room contains a limited amount of water, and it takes 30 mts for the water to heat after the initial supply is used up. So, my partner had to wait shivering, until the water heated up again (it took more than an hour). The next morning, we contacted reception again, to ask for a different room, as we didn’t fancy having to shower again with cold water in the middle of winter. We were told that they had no other rooms in our (Moonah) room category, and that if we want another room, we will have to pay for an upgrade. The hotel didn’t really seem to care about the inconvenience to the customer- we were advised that if we were not satisfied with that response, we could email the building manager to lodge a complaint. It turned out that the Moonah rooms are leased; and not the property of the hotel. So, for any issues, the building manager had to be contacted, not the hotel reception. Worst of it was that the building manager was only available via email, so no immediate remedy was available.
We have stayed at many hotels in different countries, but this was the first time we ended up in a resort where the hot water was rationed-in the winter! Overall, it was a really disappointing experience. The one advantage of this resort is that it is located 5 mins from the Alba/Peninsula thermal springs.

After looking forward to a couple of nights away, we were very disappointed with the Peppers Moonah Links Resort and will not stay there again. When we arrived, we were given a room which smelt musty and airless - and not the room we paid for through Luxury Escapes (which was a room overlooking the golf course, or swimming pool). This room had a large tree in front of it and no view. In discussion with Reception, we were offered another room which overlooked a relatively small putting green. The shower was one where you had to step over the top of the bathtub to get to it. Once in, the shower was on one side, and to access the shampoo etc., you had to walk to it whilst in the bathtub - an accident waiting to happen.
The swimming pool was dirty with a lot of dead insects in it. The drinks were overpriced and diluted, and the food was woeful. Whilst there was an option provided to access Netflix and Stan, there was no internet connection, hence no accessibility to either.

We're seasoned golf travellers - this short trip was organised via Luxury Escapes as we needed a getaway. We stayed for 2 nights in one of the units overlooking the pool, having been originally put in a dingy unit with no outlook at all. Units are tired and inconsistent, one of the perils of staying in a facility where units are privately owned. This one had the worst mattress we've ever slept on. The unit was clean however.
The resort itself has fallen behind the times - golf wise it is now well below the best on the Mornington Peninsula, and accommodation/resort wise it is now 3 stars, and that's being generous.
The clubhouse area is dated and crowded and not very enticing. Breakfast was included and was OK if you set your sights at 3 star level. Staff varied from friendly to grumpy with not much in between.
We arrived late & the evening meal in the spike bar was OK for a golf club - certainly had a lot better ( and worse to be fair) but the main restaurant area has all the appeal of an airport waiting room. We ate elsewhere on the peninsula the next night.
Our strong sense is that we'll go elsewhere on the peninsula next time we need a golf getaway.
And FWIW it needs a rebrand - calling it the 'Home of Australian Golf' is silly - it might have been for a couple of years early this century when it hosted a couple of Oz Opens, but it's now really just a resort on the Mornington Peninsula. Pleasant enough, but it's tired and needs a rethink.

From the moment we walked into reception it was evident that this property values its caucasian members/golf club owners more than the average joe. We stayed in the “open” room and even though they advertise this room to have amazing views over the golf course, we were on the ground floor with lots of trees blocking any sort of view and right next to the rubbish bins. I’m assuming we got a lower class room because this was booked through booking.com. Our room was also dirty, unclean windows and cobwebs in certain places. The worst part was not being able to sleep at night because the rooms above and next to us were creating havoc from 1:30am - 3am! It was beyond ridiculous, I’ve never experienced or heard such disgusting behaviour. Yelling, screaming, arguing and abusive words coming from men who were obviously drunk. Being two females we were too scared to call reception and put in a noise complaint, in case the men found out. Honestly worst night we have ever experienced in a hotel. I have stayed in multiple 4-5 star properties in Australia and overseas, however I have never experienced something like this. Even at breakfast the next morning, it was rowdy and people just didn’t have respect for anyone. Extremely pretentious patrons with a god complex just because they are members of a golf club. First and last time I will be visiting this hotel.

I was here for a conferemce and this hotel was such a disappointment. My room was the furthest you could get from the main building with no shelter in inclement weather.
After staying for two nights, I was then told I would have to move rooms for the third night. After questioning why, the lady on reception ( who had no name tag), asked me to stop raising my voice. I certainly did not raise my voice, however she was extremely rude to me. She treated me as a hindrance and not once smiled or tried to resolve the issue.
The food at morning tea, lunch and dinner was disgraceful.
Dietary requirements were looked upon as an inconvenience with no options given - just the one meal whether you liked it or not.
Not one person checked to see if my food was okay even when they saw it virtually untouched on the plate.
There is no care here and certainly not worth the money.
I will not be returning, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights for my birthday weekend. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, the open views from the balcony were beautiful to look at especially during sunrise and the sunset.
However, the wifi in the room is unstable making it difficult to connect, so stick to your mobile data or hotspot.
Breakfast was filling and satisfying and the staff was courteous and prompt. The fitness room was average yet sufficient and didn't get a chance to use the outdoor pool as it was quite small and was always full capacity.
We were a little annoyed on the last night as we received a call from reception at 11pm asking if we wanted housekeeping for our room the next day, even though we were checking out the following day. I found this quite unprofessional and inconsiderate towards us guests, as it was late and we could've been sleeping at that time.
Overall a decent stay and might return again with family, however, there are other options nearby for accommodation at a cheaper rate.

We arrived at this hotel via the expansive drive way which really gives you the feeling that you are miles away from Melbourne and entering a golf paradise.
We parked in the busy car park and made our way up the hill to reception to be told that the one bedroom suite we had booked was not in the building but up the road. So we wheeled our bags back to the car and drove up to the room up the road.
It was a well equipped apartment but was surrounded by other buildings including apartments looking directly into each other’s rooms. Instead of great golf views we were looking at a putting green and into other people’s bedrooms
Breakfast was a drive back up to the reception area. It was a disorganised experience and everything we ate was cold as the lids were left open. Serving yourself tea or coffee also involved queuing up behind other guests for a while for a lukewarm result.
This hotel could be fantastic as it is in a great location and close to big tourist draw cards such as the Penninsula Hot Springs. However based on our recent experience it was very average and could have been so much better. We would stay somewhere else next time.

While our standard Moonah rooms would not be suitable for a travelling family with space for a cot, portacots are easily accommodated in our Open rooms and One Bedroom suites. Pre-booking of portacots and highchairs are essential prior to arrival to ensure availability and are subject to a small fee.
Peppers Moonah Links Resort does not permit smoking inside guest rooms or attached balcony/terraces. Designating smoking areas can be found outside each accommodation building and outside the main clubhouse.
