This place is magical. Loved everything about it. My pregnant wife, my 4 year old girl and I stayed for 2 nights in a cabin. The best part is the farm tour that each day at 4pm where 2 of the most positive, enthusistic and personable people you could meet, Farmer Callum and Farmer Kate, take you around to see the many many different animals. You get to milk a cow, feed the cows, give milk to the cows, feed the sheep, goats, alpacas, ducks, geese, guinea pigs etc. If you are lucky, the little kids can sit on the donkey and pony, and even meet the resident pig and diamond python. Boy the dog is a daily attraction too. Feed the chickens and collect the eggs for your breakfast which you can cook in your self contained accommodation. Such a relaxing atmosphere just relaxing on the verandah and roaming the farm. So many things to do also in very close proximity such as Toboggan hill park, local swimming pool with big water slide, surf the sandhill dunes at birubi beach, go cart racing tracks, shark and stingrays encounters park, nelson bay town centre, murrays brewery and restaurant with vineyards next door too. This list goes on. All this just around 2hrs north of Sydney. We will be back when our second kid is born, and bringing our friends and their families too. Thanks Callum and Kate for a top notch holiday.

+1
I took my 11-year old son for 2 nights, and we both absolutely loved it. It's hard to even know where to start, but the owners are fantastic (thanks, Callum, you made it unforgettable), the animals - and the interaction with them - are awesome, and the accommodation was just right. And it was a very pleasant surprise that we could walk to Murray's Brewery for the best meat platter imaginable! Will definitely be coming back.

We stayed in a cabin for 3 nights over the long weekend. My two sons a 7 year old and an 18 month old had an absolute ball. The highlight for us was watching our kids eyes light up when it was time to feed the animals. The interaction with the animals was truly amazing and very hands on, beats going to a zoo any day. We got to feed ducks, chickens, geese, sheep, goats, cows, bottle feed calf's, pig, donkey, alpacas and a pony all in one day. My boys loved the tractor ride. A big thankyou to Callum as your hospitality was exceptional. Your passion to ensure the children enjoyed their experience truly showed.
I would like to make two suggestions as we found the bedding wasn't warm enough particularly the doona as it was more like a summer doona. We had to use all the extra blankets. Also the bathroom needs an exhaust fan as the condensation left a very wet floor, walls and windows.
In saying that it was truly an amazing 3 nights and would definitely recommend giving your children the kookaburra farmstay experience as the memories will stay forever.

We are a family of 6 and stayed in a 3 bed cottage. It was perfect for what we needed and we all loved the fireplace. So many animals for the kids to interact with and farmer Kate and Farmer Callum were so friendly and welcoming. The dog was a highlight for my kids!
The tractor ride in the afternoon was so
Much fun. Going around helping the farmers feed all the animals was great!
We are already looking at dates to go back!

Stayed with the family, including 3 children under 7 years from 15th Jan 2011. The kids were never inside, for the 6 days we were there. I think that says a lot in this day & age of the nintendo generation. Stayed in the Casurina cottage, which included 3 bedrooms. We were very comfortable the whole time.
A big thanks to the owners, Louise & Scott, for allowing our city kids access to the vast range of animals, from sun-up to sun-set.
You simply do not get better value holidays like this any more. It is no wonder they have so many repeat visitors. We will be back.

Went here as a couple for two nights in a cabin. Scott and Louise were friendly, extremely helpful, and pleasant in every interaction. They made us feel quickly at home and took us on two thoroughly delightful feeding tours throughout the farm. It's a great opportunity to enjoy the "rural" experience while being a short drive away from all of the great Port Stephens attractions. Given how much fun my wife and I had with the chickens and guinea pigs running about, I can imagine this is the perfect place for kids!
I would say that a car is necessary to visit here; although there's a bus service, it's so infrequent and ends early enough in the day it's not worth the hassle. The excellent Murray's Brewery/Port Stephens Winery is next door, but otherwise basically nothing is within walking distance and even the brewery is closed in the evenings. It is a farm, after all!

This was our second visit to the farm over the weekend. Our kids are now old enough to participate in farm activities and really enjoyed it, so much so that they wanted this be their regular farm each school holiday.
Callum and Mel - the new owners are warm and welcoming, they made us feel that much more relax and at home. When my children came back tired from the Toboggan Park day trip, Callum went out of his way to entertain them which was very special.
We loved the large deck at the back where we had our BBQ while enjoying the rural view, watching the animals in the paddocks. Inside, the cottage was well equipped with all the things we needed, the kids loved the bunk beds the most and the fireplace completed the farm stay experience.
My wife does not have as much interests in farming and animals as the rest of us do but after such a relaxing stay and seeing the kids enjoyed themselves so much, she too suggested we should come here more regularly which said it all.

I'm not going to mention Bob the dog first! Thanks Callum & Mel and little Ruby for a fun and muddy Fathers Day weekend! The mud made for more fun so never fear the rain people, the animals still need to be fed! Awesome time, awesome fun! Thanks Callum you make a great farmer and are wonderful with our little people! Cabins clean n comfy. Toasting marshmallows n melted chocky on the fire at night and kids kept busy trying to catch the super fast guinea piggies living outside our cabin! Chickens and birds joining us for breaky on the deck and the very early rising of the kids to collect the eggs for breaky before the others were up. Kids favourite...... Was it the wild tractor ride, the chicken flying, duck island or Callum's jokes or was it BOB! Thanks guys! Wanjohi family ..see u again soon.

We stayed here for 4 nights in Spring School holidays with our 3.5 yo Daughter. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom cabin, which was one of four around a central shared BBQ area. The cabin was clean and comfortable and well stocked with a variety of Toys our daughter just loved.
The hosts Farmer Scott and Louise were most hospitable, the 4pm daily feeding time was the highlight of the day with the mad tractor ride. This gave you plenty of time during the day to explore the beautiful Port Stephen's area.
Our daughter keeps talking about her farm holiday a month later and is asking when are we going back, there are other larger cottages on the farm that would suit 2 or three families which we will look at doing next year maybe.
Just a word of warning, take some mosquito repellent, we didn't have any on the first night and were eaten alive (Inside the cabin). We sprayed the next day and weren't bothered again.
All in all a fabulous time was had by daughter and Parents!!

We had a short stay - two nights. Our two sons (7, 4) wanted to extend by another week. That says it all. We just left and they wanted to drive back to Kookaburra.
We had a great time with the location, the animals, the guides Callum and Mel and the friendly dog Boy. Our boys played with animals on the farm, milked the cows fed the pigs, goats and ducks and had just a fun time....
The hosts are great and the location for day trips to the beach is excellent...there is plenty to do in that region.
If you like countryside holidays off the tracks of millions, but fast access to great spots we can highly recommend this place. Too bad it is 10h away by plane from our home. So we cannot visit again soon.
Callum, Mel. thanks for taking care of us!

Hi There,
We don't provide meals or have a café on the farm; however there are great local eateries within a short drive of the property.
