We felt compelled to write a review for this lovely little gem in the heart of Iden village. Recently taken over by new management who gave us a warm and friendly welcome with our 19 month son and two small elderly dogs. We had dinner, breakfast and stayed over night. The dinner menu had all the classics but also a...

Situated in a nice location with reasonable accommodation. As always it is hoped that the Inn Keeper's first responsibility is the comfort, happiness and wellbeing of his guests. Unfortunately our time at the Bell turned out to be very short and extremely distressing. Having checked into the accommodation, which is located in a separate building to the main pub, we...

I met with friends at the Bell in Iden on Saturday evening and had one of the best meals have out in a long time. I was spoilt for choice from menu but I had chicken, ham and leek pie served with chips and vegetables and I wasn't disappointed. I just wish I had space for the mojito cheesecake! It's...

Stayed one night and had dinner. This is a really nice traditional pub with a couple of bedrooms, NOT a gastropub. There is a very good atmosphere, lots of locals and also very welcoming to visitors. Good, well-kept beer. Very friendly team. Short-ish food menu, but excellent quality ingredients and preparation - a cut above regular 'pub fare'. Accommodation fairly...

A very nice restaurant in a very nice area, The Bell is a very good place to eat or drink, with friendly staff and a nice interior. I also like the parking and the snooker table, the simple things that make a difference.

Me and my husband stayed here recently in the TACK room. We arrived to all the locals at the bar and a lovely young lady who showed us to our room. The pub had a great atmosphere . The accommodation was very nice , clean , and the bed was very comfy. We came on a beautiful day which we...

The accommodation was very disappointing. The room was dark and dreary in a converted stable block. The decorations were tired. The approach through a very unkempt garden was worryingly scruffy. The chef was 'off' on the evening we ate there and the food was heavy and very pubby. The breakfast the next day was OK but nothing special. We have...

Thank you for taking time to write a review, we are sorry to hear that your stay was not up to scratch. We took over running The Bell in July so your stay was before our time. As the new tenants of The Bell we have put a lot of time into the garden and are looking to refurbish the...

We booked 2 nights b&b and reserved dinner for the first night. After a 7 hour journey we were informed that the chef had left the day before and we would have to eat elsewhere, hence another car jouney. We should have been informed prior to our arrival as our contact details were given at the time of booking. We...

Thank you for taking time to write a review, we are sorry to hear that your stay was not up to scratch. As the new tenants of The Bell we have had some teething issues with our chef and this is by no means an excuse but we hope you will be pleased to know we have resolved these issues...

Nice country pub in pleasant semi rural location. The bedrooms in converted outbuildings were spacious and clean and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was good (I'd recommend the eggs benedict). There was a bbq in the pub garden on day of village fete, I only had burger but that was good quality too.

Popped in with friends for a quick lunchtime drink, was warmly welcomed by the new Australian landlord Andy. Great selection of drinks were available and the retro ambience was complimented by a soothing playlist from the superb bespoke speaker system. My only complaint is that I had to leave and couldn't stay for more! Will be coming back soon!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This traditional village pub dates back to the 15th century with our snug area dating back to 1107! Legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. We have two delightful letting rooms, separate to the pub. Rooms offer king sized beds and en-suite facilities. Other features include original oak beams within the letting rooms and the main inn. Make yourselves tea and coffee in vintage china in the morning in bed whilst watching television with freeview prior to popping over the the restaurant for a sumptuous hearty breakfast using fresh local produce - continental and full English are offered. We are proud of our home cooked food and offer far more than your usual pub grub. Our food is locally sourced where possible and reflects seasonal changes. We are a perfect dining space for a romantic dinner for two, a family celebration or a private party. ... more   less
