Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

the setting of this caravan park is beautiful. we had a view over a little inlet. very pretty. however the place could do with a good renovation. the toilets and showers were clean and spacious, but were very old to look at. the camp kitchen was small and very basic. the location itself is not near anything decent to walk to.

We've stayed at Treasure Island Caravan Park a number of times over the past 3 months while we travel around Tasmania. We have found this caravan park to be the best value for money out of all the caravan parks in and around Hobart. During the off-season they will offer you 7 nights for the price of 6 for a powered site. The sites are a generous size, and the amenities are always clean. Granted, they are a bit out-dated and could probably do with some renovations, but they are clean. The staff are very friendly and are always up for a chat. There is a bus within walking distance which will take you into Hobart, and MONA is right next door. While we travel around Tasmania, we will keep coming back to Hobart and will continue to stay at Treasure Island.

Stayed three nights with two children under four. Camp spot was level, grassy and quiet! Stunning water views and the kids loved the resident ducks!! Camp kitchen was great and showers and toilets were clean. Wind was a bit of an issue but when camping, the elements are part of the adventure! Great spot to visit Hobart!!

In generic I got to know the Australians as very nice people. Also camped the majority of my life and call myself experienced in that topic. You have luxurious campings, simple campings and one is cleaner than the other. But both the Australians and camping people are in generic friendly.

Just had the worst experience in my life on this camping. Honesty, avoid at any cost!

We called the lady in the afternoon, searching for a powered campingspot, and she had sufficient left (now know why). At the counter I asked for a powered campingspot and got one for 30 dollars. She drew a map, highlighting the unpowered ones (I assumed that we shouldn't be there) and said we can stand anywhere we want, not giving any receipt. Claimed printer was broken, but maybe of tax reasons.

We drove on the camping site and the majority of the free spots were next to a sewer system, with a awful smell, why would anyone build a camping here??

We drove a little further where the smell was little less and found a free spot. When we were set up a lady arrived on the camping with her camper, claiming it was her spot. Confusing, since the counterlady said we could stand anywhere. She was very nice, parked across the road and even offered her power extension cable. We would leave in the morning anyhow.

Next morning around 8 o clock big fuss around the tent, while we were still sleeping. Manager and his help (intimidating type, you only see playing bad guy roles in the movies). Saying we were the rudest of people, like we committed a war crime, no decency. Also claimed that we were stealing powercable (woman offered to us) and we only were allocated a non powered site, so why we had the guts to be on a powered one.

Didn't want to listen to our side of he story at all, felt like a criminal instead of a client. We had to leave the camping within 5 minutes or they would call the police (remember we paid 30 dollars for a sewer smell camping spot??)

Throwing all our gear in the car and went to the office. Simple explanation; owners wife heard unpowered site, while we said powered. While confronting her, how we were treated, she said sorry for the misunderstanding; but that's all.

So we left after spending 12 hours in a sewer smell being intimated and criminalized for the sheer amount for 30 dollars.

Time for new management? Absolutely, these guys know nothing how to treat their customers, how to deal with these situations or even where to build a camping.

Would really recommend going to any of the campings in the neighborhood (plenty of) and not to go to this place.

We based ourselves here for 3 nights to see Hobart. It was a great location (MONA is literally next door) and the city is 20 minutes down the road. The Cadbury chocolate factory is also close by. It also borders the Derwent River. The service is sensational, we stayed in a powered Ensuite site and had no problems with noise where we were situated. It's also lovely to feed the ducks in the morning so be sure to buy some food from the office. The place is a little run down but the staff are so friendly you can overlook it and you can see that they are catching up on some much needed maintenance. Highly recommend you stay.

We called in here only because we were tired and could not drive further. The cost for the cabin was excessive for what it was, $100 for the night for a couple. If this is the best Tasmania can do for holiday parks you have got a lot to learn.
I will certainly put the message around to avoid places like this as it is unacceptable to have to put up with places of this standard for the cost.

The managers or owners (not sure) were excellent. The gentleman even noticed that I did not have a lighter and was using the car cigarette lighter and brought me a box of matches. Howz that for device with a smile.
I have read the other reviews and yes it may be not 5 star but given that we were previously staying at a b&b that cost more per night which had dirty sheets - no view - dirty bathrooms - we were very happy to stay here. Yes, it may be in need of a bit of TLC but overall I can say my bed had clean sheets, the pillows had pillow protectors ( obviously they must read these reviews) - the bed was a little soft for my liking but the toilet, shower and basin were clean and we had a lovely location.
I would go back again, and again.
And if you don't like duck poo - don't stay where there are ducks!!!!
Thanks again to both of you.

This is the worst caravan park I have ever stayed in. It was very run down and dirty. The clothes lines were falling down. Duck dirt everywhere and sewerage plant close by. Would never stay there in the future.

This park is located on the water which is so peaceful and relaxing. The park is right next to mona and minutes from a shopping centre and Cadbury. The cabins were clean and spacious. Beds had an electric blanket and bathroom had more space than some hotels I've stayed in. I received friendly service and enjoyed my stay!!
