Second time we stayed here, top notch views of the bay, perfect spot to watch the sunset, pool is first class and service was beyond good. Central location with easy access to Main Street. Rate was very affordable, didn’t try the hotel menu but there was delivery from local restaurants available if required.

Everyone talks about the many steps to get up the hill back to the hotel but ignore them. The views are awesome, staff have bent over backwards to accommodate us, breakfast has basic options and is very nice, infinity pool has been wonderful. They also looked after our laundry inexpensively. If you fear the walk back home in the evening, jump on the back of a motorbike cab for 15,000 IDR pp (just over $1USD) - has felt safe and you’re back in a nano-second. Fellow Kiwi Graham might not be here - he seems to travel a bit, but he’s set up a good operation (BTW, I don’t know him, but learned through easy correspondence when we first booked that he’s from New Zealand). Highly recommend for good, clean accommodation for a couple of days. Enjoy.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in a Harbormaster room. We overall enjoyed it, but there were some unpleasant surprises.
The view was fantastic, but know that's because the hotel is built into a hill so the options for getting to our room were uneven stairs or a long steep ramp.
This says WiFi is available, but when you get there it is only guaranteed in the pool and restaurant areas. I got some connection in our room but it was unreliable.
They advertise an open air shower, but that shower is not separated from the rest of the bathroom. So the whole bathroom is open air. So you know will be using the toilet in an un-airconditioned space and you may get mosquito bites while brushing your teeth.
With all of this in mind, please know that the staff were very nice and eager to help. The breakfast delivered to your porch was as delightful as it sounds, tasty, and generally plentiful. We got laundry done there and it was good. The pool was very nice and also has a great view. Once we got over the surprises, we had a pleasant stay.

The location was great, although expect some steep walks when going out to shops, the views however make up for it. The mosques are relatively further away so the call for prayers is muted, you might sleep through it. The vibe is of a boutique hotel with common pool area. Breakfast is served to your room.

Overall an enjoyable stay. On the negative the room we stayed in could do with a bit more attention to cleaning, floors needed a mop and some couches had stains that surely could be washed. It's just visible if you pay attention to such details. With such small changes it would gain a lot.

The view from our room was stunning. We can see the bay and enjoying sunset from our room-terrace. The room is spacious and clean, only the bathroom is not our favorite…
Breakfast was sent to the room, just a normal breakfast.. the swimming pool was also nice…
It was quiet as we stayed during the pandemic period, but really was a nice experience staying in that particular room

I only stayed at the Bayview Gardens Hotel for one night but I absolutely enjoyed my stay. The design of the room was terrific (I could even choose between two different rooms), the panoramic views are breathtaking (especially at sunset), and I appreciated that breakfast was delivered to the room. Located on a hill, only a short walk to the main stretch of the center of Labuan Bajo. I very much liked the natural soundscape of the surrounding gardens at dawn.

What a wonderful experience, my wife and I and some close relations stayed at this gem.Our accommodation was in a harbourmaster suite and it lived up to it's title, what a magnificent view. The harbour and all it's twinkling lights on the moored boats, the fabulous sunsets ,we couldn't have chosen a better spot. Drinks on the enormous balcony for all of us.
The infinity pool was a beauty situated by the restaurant and bar, very nice after a day's sightseeing. The staff were all delightful and very pleased to help you in any way they can.Breakfast menu was great and served to time of your choice in your room or you could amble down to the restaurant again to be delivered at the specific time you booked the night before. Dinner needed to be booked in advance including the choice of meals. There was an excellent restaurant across the road from Bayview The Mugen Ramen and Grill, the building does not look nearly as inviting as it's next door neighbour, the Taman Laut Handayani, but having tried both, in my opinion the the Mugen Ramen and Grill offered a better quality of food ,service and value. However for the ultimate foodie experience you should visit the nightly fish market. First find a table behind the stalls, then go to the front, choose your fresh fish from whichever stall you fancy they will barbecue it for you and deliver it to your table with plates, cutlery and condiments.
Please be aware, however,Bayiew Gardens is built into the side of a hill and to pay for the wonderful views the slopes and steps are steep. My wife and I are both pensioners and managed without any issues but this is not the place for you if you have mobility issues

Incredible Panoramic View. Large Rooms. Fantastic Breakfast. Lovely Super-Friendly Helpful Staff. Easy walk to town, restaurants and all LBJ dive centres. Plus consistent wifi is a rare treat in LBJ.

This is the best place to stay in LBJ town if you want to avoid huge overpriced hotels and have a homey feeling in really nice accommodations for a reasonable price. Having stayed in six other budget accommodations around town, I suggest you not waste time or money staying elsewhere. Book BGH now. You will love the experience.

We had a 3 night stay in this lovely hotel recently and was pleasantly surprised by a magnificent renovation that has taken place within the last 7 years to bring it from a backpacker level accommodation right up to date in comfort and styling to what we see today!
We stayed in the standard rooms and what great value for money. Comfortable and stylish room for a couple, a balcony housing the minibar and amenities and home to breakfast served there daily. Nice sized couple bathroom with plenty of hanging and storage if needed.
And then, there is THAT view - a working port town ever-changing. Beautiful harbour and island views and a daily sunset spectacular to die for.
The communal areas being infinity pool which we luxuriated in, again with THAT view, and simple cafe/restaurant for dining in, which we didn't do.
We were lucky to be able to tour the other levels of accommodation and they are stunning. Spacious and more spacious as you go up in the levels of accommodation and cost but again there is stylish fitting throughout and a real sense of spoiling yourself.
And yes, there are stairs. So if you have bad knees then this may not be for you the higher up you go. However, the higher up you go, the less you need to go anywhere else!! We rented scooters from the hotel to zip the 5mins into town and also to explore the beauty that other parts of the main island offered. On this occasion due to the onset of the Covid-19 lockdown the outer islands were closed so no boat travel to them and the 'tourist' spots but there was still so much to enjoy for us on this visit. It just means we will have to go back soon, once all this is over, to enjoy the bits we missed.
Thank you to Bayview Gardens for a fabulous few days!

Suite number 09 for 2 nights. Good for the view. Good for the pool area. Good for the comfy big bed and spacious suite. Not good breafast even if they bring it in your room: coffee or tea is not served, you have to make it from your room. Fruits (banana, papaya, watermelon) are included but juices made from the same fruits are optional. That day butter was finished, they gave margarine very bad smelly instead. Room is very brite with white curtains that need good cleaning though as well as for bed linen pretty old. Bring your eye patch for the night and ear plugs for the noise from busy road. I also tried to explain there was a continuous cracking noise in the ceiling made of bamboo that can disturb when trying to sleep, maybe insects or lizards: ear plugs will help too. We did not use the terrasse because of the garbage smell from below and also septic tank not far from it that is why we were having breakfast not in the room, as it is supposed to be, but in the pool area. Now you know, be prepared. Manager: please learn without "sorry, sorry".

Hi, you mentioned Yogyakarta which is a city on Java. West of Bali. Rinca and Komodo Islands are east of Bali. Closest airport is Labuan Bajo. Fly via Wings Air 1.5 hours from Depasar in Bali. Rinca is closest to see the dragons. Travel is by boat only. Another option is to sail from Lombok over 5 days and end your trip at Labuan Bajo. Dragons can be seen on Rinca though for ease of walking they will be near the buildings. Such is the human impact on nature. Bayview Gardens is on a hillside. There will be some stairs to negotiate if you want a room with a view. TThere are other hotels on the road above but I did not stay in theses and don't have names either. They may have less stairs. Good plan would be to email Bayview and ask the manager to give you some options. His name is Hubertus and his English is excellent.
