The views are spectacular...but that is where the positive experience ends! The rooms are all located up stone staircases, some of which are badly worn. The staff helps bring bags to the room, but were not available to bring them down. The first room we...More
Bayview Gardens Hotel is nice, clean, has a fantastic pool with view over the whole Bajo Bay and is situated in a steep slope with lush greenery. Downtown is within walking distance unlike resort style hotels south of town. We stayed in the older (and...More

Thanks for the helpful review
We can't do much about the road noise because we are so close to the town centre.
But I will look into your suggestion about mosquito nets...it is the rainy season so there are some mosquitoes at this time.
We stayed at the Bayview Gardens for a week and were very happy with our choice.
The rooms are well thought through and practical with a nice spacious shower and especially nice terrace, where one can boil their tea any time, large water jug provided...More

I will investigate the points you have made
Stayed here for one night in december as we are travelling around indonesia.
The hotel like the titles says - bayview and gardens is accurate. The hotel situated high gives panoramic views of the harbour. The hotel grounds were luscious, green and well maintained.
My wife and I had meant to spend two nights at Bayview Gardens (on either side of our liveaboard dive trip) and thanks to the Bali volcano ended up with five nights. While we were disappointed to miss Bali, the owner and staff at Bayview...More

Hi, you mentioned Yogyakarta which is a city on Java. West of Bali. Rinca and Komodo Islands are east of Bali. Closest airport is Labuan Bajo. Fly via Wings Air 1.5 hours from Depasar in Bali. Rinca is closest to see the dragons. Travel is by boat only. Another option is to sail from Lombok over 5 days and end your trip at Labuan Bajo. Dragons can be seen on Rinca though for ease of walking they will be near the buildings. Such is the human impact on nature. Bayview Gardens is on a hillside. There will be some stairs to negotiate if you want a room with a view. TThere are other hotels on the road above but I did not stay in theses and don't have names either. They may have less stairs. Good plan would be to email Bayview and ask the manager to give you some options. His name is Hubertus and his English is excellent.
