I stayed at Macquarie 4 Star for 5 nights to attend a family wedding in March. I booked a Silver Room which was probably more than I required but the room was spacious and comfortable. The room was clean and quiet with an ice machine and vending machine just down the hall. It had a private patio on the courtyard overlooking the sunrise, a kettle for coffee or tea, a small fridge, complete with creamers and a water jug to keep your drinking water cold, an iron and ironing board and, on the second floor, complimentary laundry facilities. The location was perfect being near to the bride’s family as well as within walking distance of the Glendale Shopping Mall, just up the hill. It was also close to the Cockle Creek Train Station. Being located on Cockle Creek, there were numerous nature trails close at hand. And, as the wedding reception was at Club Macquarie, the walkway back to the hotel provided safe walking on my way back to my room. The staff was incredible, from the cleaning crew and maintenance to the excellent service I received from all of the front desk staff. One of the ladies at the front desk, Sonja, went out of her way to pick up a jacket I’d left at a restaurant and return it to the hotel, on her day off. I would definitely recommend Macquarie 4 Star and, should I return to Australia, I will definitely be returning to this hotel.

Nice and quiet location. Clean and comfortable room. Office staff could be friendlier and would have been nice to be told that room service was available. The club next door offers nice menu and great prices.

We had a party to attend and managed to get the last room at the Macquarie 4 Star Hotel. It was the platinum room which was huge. It had a king sized bed, spa bath, dual vanities and showers. It was $250 for the Saturday night. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room backed onto Cockle Creek which is quite pretty. Sleep quality was quite good but a few slow moving freight trains went past. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t as clean as it should have been. We wanted to use the ice bucket but found it full of rubbish and the carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. We decided to go to the buffet breakfast, which was well priced at $17.50 per head. There was a great selection of both hot and cold food. Unfortunately, the food was just warm and the coffee quite cool.

Have stayed here before a couple of months back and hadn’t had an issue up until now.
I had my daughter with me who is 1 and had asked for a room closer to the entrance is possible, the receptionist looked at me with a dumbfounded look and asked why? I said because I have my daughter with me so it makes it easier for us with all our bags.
Before taking the payment the payment she had asked the reason I was staying? and asked to look at my drivers license not sure if that’s policy but her attitude was very rude and abrupt and made me feel not very welcome at all.
Probably won’t be back.

We stayed here for a show at the club. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, although the outside light was annoying trying to sleep, even with curtains drawn.
Bathroom had a spa bath, double shower and separate toilet. There was coffee tea milk and biscuits. There are vending machines in hall.
The secure walkway is great to and from club. Lots of parking.
Train line was close but wasnt too bad regarding noise.
Bed was very comfortable, room clean and reception staff very pleasant.
I didnt get to breakfast as it finished at 9.30am on weekends and I had to depart by 10am. An 11 am checkout would encourage more to breakfast.
Pleasant stay if you are going to club for show or function.

Stayed here overnight with the family to visit family in the area. We have stayed here before and the experience was similar. I had booked this hotel a month prior to arriving and they accidentally pre authorised my credit card early and for the wrong amount. I rang and they apologised and it was sorted out in a few days. Hotel is clean, in a good location and beds are comfortable. Staff at check in were friendly and helpful. Will stay here again if in the area.

A functional soul-less motel style accomodation with free parking. Nothing much else around.
In principle this place could be that simple clean goto in Newcastle, but fails on execution.
You could possibly deal with the rumblings of trains which permeate through the night… (this is out of their control)
… but the dust build up in the corners, the overly soft mattress and a restaurant which can’t get the basics right (over cooked meat and under cooked veggies) mean this place is not a keeper.

Got to the hotel late due to traffic. Had to go to the club reception. That receptionist was forceful and rude. When we got to our room, I realised we weren’t given two double beds as requested when we booked. There was a sofa bed but it was unmade. It was late and reception was closed so I didn’t make a fuss. The hallway were noisy with people coming and going. Bathroom and amenities were ok. When we were going to breakfast, we asked the receptionist how to get there and she rudely pointed and said go to the club. The receptionist was rude again on check out as she took a phone call while serving me. Overall, not worth the money that you have to pay.
