* The room was booked for 2 adults and two children, yet you were unable to lock or even secure in place the security door onto the car park. with no air-conditioning and no opening windows apart from in the bathroom, this seems 1. a safety issue for what was a "family" room with the door opening onto a car park 2. a health and safety issue - no clean air and 3. a security threat to your hotels belongings.
* The bathroom was so mouldy, a) behind the toilet and b) in the shower i was unable to let my grandchildren have a shower and walk barefoot in the bathroom area.
* The bathroom ceiling was covered in something I could not even identify.
* The queen bed had two mattresses on the base, which even my two year old grandson described as a "trampoline bed" as each time you moved you almost fell out the side.
* There was no clock, no telephone, no material which other hotels provide on the local area and what is available.
*I can only assume the hotel faces west as the afternoon sun on the building made it almost impossible to stand the heat in the building until sunset, again because i was unable to have the glass door open as my two grandchildren could open the screen door onto your car park and the one fan in the room struggled to cool the room down enough.
In addition to the above, scanning Gold Coast hotel websites, there are a number of 3 and 4 star hotels which are currently charging the same price as you, $120.00 for a Saturday night stay!
This was very disappointing and had we have had the funds we would have found alternate accommodation as even the 2 year olds did not want to stay in your establishment
Being only 100 metres from the most beautiful white sandy surf beach that extends for about 100 metres in one direction and 3 kilometres in the other. (Do not go to the beach looking for a crowd, 1000 beach umbrellas, annoying hair braiders or trinket sellers because you will disappointed). You will have white sand, blue seas and serenity.
The second is Chrissy, the Manager. 'All knowing, all singing, all dancing, all powerful.' Nothing is too much trouble and all problems are solvable with a minimum of fuss.
Now there is a third side to the triangle... Shane and Kim... the new owners.
Shane and Kim are in the process of transforming this easy going seaside motel into Beautifully Crisp Well Appointed Accommodation.
I am currently in-house. I have stayed several times before and I have paid the Rack-Rat. I have seen the new exoskeleton and have seen the new rooms. Those who have read my previous reports know that, I tell it as it I see it and am able to offend.
I there-fore reccommend this Motel most highly.
This is a nice quiet motel that I have stayed at time and time again. All the basics, short stroll to the beach, close to town.
So many nice eating locations close by. The beaches up the road are fantastic! Byron Bay and Bangalow are just down the road.
The fishing is wonderful at the Mooball Creek. Permits available in town.
I can't say enough nice things about the management. They look after people and make sure there's no people misbehaving.
Secondly, the room. It had no aircon, only a ceiling fan, the breeze from which barely reached anywhere but the bed right underneath it. Promises of a ‘sea breeze’ from the female manager sadly went unfulfilled, even though every single window was left open throughout the afternoon and evening. The position of the room also provided some concern – it was quite possible for anyone walking along the upper-storey balcony to see directly into the room unless the curtains were kept closed. This unfortunately included the bathroom.
Furthermore, I can only assume that the way this room protrudes out over the car park has some effect on the acoustics of the place (especially when the windows need to be kept open at all times lest the inhabitants die of heat exhaustion), as at approximately 10pm – while I was fast asleep and my two friends awake and talking – we had a visit from the male manager who quite rudely told my friends to ‘shut it’. Although I am by no means a light sleeper, it seems to me that something that is apparently keeping many other guests awake and that was audible over the manager’s television set would wake me up. Perhaps a solution would be to install air conditioning so that the windows could be kept closed?
After reading many of the other reviews here it seems that the rude attitude adopted by the male manager is standard. It is a mystery to me why these two are managing a hotel. The pool was probably the one redeeming feature of the place, as it was modern and a decent size; however, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere (but if you want to use the pool I’m sure the managers won’t mind - three teenagers staying at the camping ground next door enjoyed it for nearly half an hour without attracting the managers’ wrath, though the pool gate clearly states the facility is for ‘motel guests only’).
