Firstly the new refurbishment is outstanding.
BUT our family of eight all agreed. The food is the WORST pub/club food we have exprerienced on the Central Coast. Steak tough and under cooked. Pizza ordinary, Nachos tasteless with few ingredients. Long wait for the food.
Constant cigerette smell where we were sitting outside near the big screen TV.
A number of patrons were seen vaping in the outside food area. They were never spoken to by staff.
No.. we did not complain on the night, we just could not be bothered BUT will never return.
Firstly step... tell your chef to visit and dine at The Chittaway Tavern and or The Lakes Hotel The Entrance to learn how to cater/cook properly!
Both those venues are outstanding in food and service.

Being a pub owner myself I do like to give feedback when needed. We waited for 1hr 40mins for food and was served cold. Very disappointing but In saying that I’ve been here before and our food was lovely, maybe just a bad night. Most of the staff was friendly and was very apologetic for the wait time and food. While ordering a drink at the bar the manager rudely come over and interrupts our conversation and tells her that she shouldn’t be interacting with the customers as she should be working and doing something else ?? The poor girl got extremely upset as she wasn’t doing anything wrong she was simply answering my questions I had. The way he spoke to all the staff behind that bar was disgraceful. It’s a shame such a good thriving place is run by an absolute clown. To all staff members at bateau hotel you do an amazing job keep up the good work because your the reason people come back.

Since the change over of owners I think it has gone down hill with service the menu is cut in half not much to choose from they have taken away the cook your own steak section why I don't know, the seating outside well.... all the tables are put together in lots of 2's or 3's or 4's that's in the shade and single's in the sun and not many of them I might add. We were sitting at a table of 2 lots that's all that was left having our lunch then this little up start of manager for the day comes out and said we have to move you cant eat here the sign on the table said no smoking not no eating I said how about you move some tables apart for us so we can sit out here OH NO cant do that so he made us move with our food half eaten he could have said just finish your meal and then move words were exchanged it wasn't good either he was so not customer friendly this guy, asked if he would put the TV on down the other end so we can watch to car racing ,no cant do either its not working, so we had to sit inside on such a beautiful day, ate the rest of the meal and left, wont be back, they better pick up there game or they will lose a lot more customers, we would come here at least once a week , it was a good pub before very friendly.

Even though the dining area was quite busy on the Saturday night, we were able to find a table and order our meals quickly. It only took about 15 minutes for our dinners to arrive.
My husband and I shared a starter of Chilli and Salt Squid. It was nice but it didn’t have near enough chilli. We then shared the Mushroom Pizza which was brilliant. Really nice Napoli sauce, baby spinach leaves, assortment of very tasty mushrooms, feta and mozzarella cheese.
Our son had the Chicken Schnitzel with the prawn topper, salad and chips, while his partner had the Schnitzel with mushroom sauce, chips and salad. Both really enjoyed their meals.

Go back to the Bateau Bay Hotel they said. There is a great new chef and you don't have to wait an hour for the food. So i went
back last week and they were right...we didn't wait an hour for food , we waited 2 hours and 10 minutes for a plain hamburger and chips. After this monumental wait the meat patty was half cooked and cold. Don't waste your time, you wont get those hours back!!

We had a takeaway meal tonight and couldn’t complain.
Pizza were hot and fresh. They are no longer doing pick up from Bottle-O, but was easy to enter pub and collect (did prefer just grabbing from Bottle-o).
Staff were friendly and food was ready to collect 10 minutes after calling. Reasonable prices, and food variety of meals available.

Came here for a few beers, trivia and some food.

The atmosphere was good out the back, heaters to keep you warm and prizes to win with trivia.

We got the chicken schnitzel with garlic prawn topper and the loaded fries. Portion sizes are generous and the food came out quick.

Had a game of pool afterwards all round it was a pleasant evening, I will definitely be coming back.

Hotel has 6 motel rooms and we booked 5 of them for a family wedding. The sixth room was out of action for some reason or another. The carpets were badly stained and we lost count of the cockroaches encountered. Also, the fire alarms had been pulled from the ceiling and just a black hole was present. One of the TV's had exposed wiring which was extremely dangerous. We unplugged it from the wall and left a sign for the cleaning staff. I am sure that the council would not be at all happy with the unclean and unsafe conditions of these rooms. Never again !

This place used to be a great establishment.
Now the food is terrible and cold
There was insects throughout the bistro
The staff were rude and belligerent when informed about the insects
The only reason why my steak was cooked well was because I cooked it the sides were cold and under cooked.
This place used to be awesome and it's such a disappointment a major shake up needs to happen from top down.

I had a schnitzel with chips and gravy and loved it.
They didn't take all day to cook it and was cooked through and was nice. A little juicy for me, but I like my chicken dry. But most people would love it how it was.

You can also buy a steak and cook it yourself on the grill, more places should set up a big grill for customers to cook their own meat.
Great idea!
