I organised a weekend stay for my Hubby’s birthday in the Olive Cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We arrived to find that Eloise and Troy had left a lovely card and cake in the fridge for my Hubby, as well as a bottled of wine and box of yummy treats for us to enjoy. Smoky the resident retired horse came by for visits throughout our stay. Very quiet and relaxing stay. We also enjoyed a lovely spa that is in a corner of the cottage & was able to look out on the beautiful views. Highly recommend! We will be back

Our round Europe trip cancelled so we did a round NSW instead. Our final stop was to catch up on the ‘lying in the sun’, ‘reading a book’ destination we had planned for Vietnam. And that’s what we did. Beautiful weather, no fuss meals on the BBQ. Lovely visits from Smoky (horse) and Salt (dog) and loads of birds. Fireplace lit at night and a comfy sofa. Beautiful bed and spa to help bring the relaxation together. We did read the book, gaze at the stars and enjoy the beautiful sunny days overlooking the valley. Thanks to Alison for the lovely surprises and for all the help getting us in. We will be back.

This place was an amazing find! We arrived at this beautiful blue gum cottage with everything included. I mean everything. A small package of desserts and sparkling wine for us to enjoy started our weekend just right. We decided to take up the suggestion for the meals by hungry belly to be delivered and that was such a smart choice. It made it so we could enjoy each evening in a beautiful place and no major cooking. The Cottage is not too far from the major wineries too. We decided to drive to it (Instead of a bus pick up) and were able to enjoy a day of wine tasting on one day. The other days included walking around the property, enjoying the jacuzzi and just relaxing which was needed. It also was dog friendly which was a win for us. The gate around the cottage was perfect that we could let him run around outside and be comfortable. It is amazing to find a dog friendly option which makes it easy for a getaway. Eloise gave amazing instructions ahead of time that made it easy to start the weekend when we arrived. We would highly recommend this place because we will be back!

Wow, I was so surprised that I have never heard of this place. I live in Newcastle all my life and have worked around this hidden gem. We spent 2 nights in olive cottage and I have to say we will be back. The cottage is very cute and clean. A complimentary bottle of bubbles and a box of chocolates on arrival. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. The wood fire was great to relax in front of. The views from the porch was nice but nothing compared to the views from the short drive up the hill. Then on our last morning the resident horse made an appearance at our steps while we were cooking breakfast(see photos) The cottage comes with all the cooking needs and a small portable bbq to cook on and a medium size fridge. Bring yr own food, alcohol and just relax. If you wish to visit the hunter valley wineries it’s about a 30minute drive to the most popular wineries and restaurants. Do yourself a favour and spend some time here. We will be back with a few friends and book the larger cottage. Thanks so much

My husband and I stayed here 15 years ago, so it was nice to return with our two children for a relaxing getaway. We arrived at the rustic Rockhouse to be greeted by a lovely bottle of wine and chocolates. Over the next couple of days we enjoyed bushwalking, spotting animals (the kids loved seeing the resident goanna and feeding Smoky the horse who visited us each morning) The jacuzzi was relaxing and we made sure to use the BBQ, enjoying our dinner on the deck and admiring the leafy outlook. It's a lovely place to unwind, a quiet and peaceful getaway.
