We received a very friendly welcome from the owner here as we arrived after walking up the Agia Irini gorge and on to the hotel carrying full packs in the 30+ degrees heat. We stayed 2 nights and had a pleasant and very clean room with a balcony. There were two large groups staying the first night but the staff...

This hotel doesn't offer five star luxury, but it does offer very comfortable, clean rooms at incredibly reasonable prices very close to the entrance to the Samaria Gorge. There is also the most delicious traditional Greek food available at the hotel taverna - the grilled lamb chops, in particular, were divine. We ordered way too much food and wine for...

We had a really enjoyable and fun one night stay before hiking the Samaria Gorge. We arrived with low expectations, thinking this would just be an early night with basic accommodations before our hike. Indeed, the accommodations are relatively basic, but the wool blankets and cozy beds were a nice touch given that it can get downright cold up in...

We were picked up by the owner after our hike of Aghia Irini Gorge. If you easily get motion sick it is advise you take a gravol or other motion sickness pill before the drive to his hotel as the mountain roads are very curvy and he drives aggressively. Our room was adequate with a decent washroom but a bit...

We stayed here for one night before walking the Samaria Gorge. It was lovely to arrive at this peaceful mountain retreat after the heat of Chania. The staff were very friendly and helpful and not only shuttled us to the start of the walk but, for a small fee, transported our luggage to Sougia so we could pick it up...

We slept in Neos Omalos one night before heading out to a 2 day trek in the white mountains (Starting at Omalos and finishing in Anopoli, see http://www.travellingzoom.com/Blog/Archive/From-Omalos-to-Anopoli-crossing-the-Lefka-Ori for a detailed description of this beautiful trek). The hotel itself was basic - The restaurant and the rooms were nothing to write home about. But most importantly the owners were very...

Clean, good location (rustic, mountain lodge) and there are also shorter hikes in the area. A couple of restaurants with not much choice on the menu - we ate up the road and also at the hotel - they provide transport to the start of the Gorge included in the price and are very helpful. Dinner is usually early and...

Stayed 2 days in october. Clean, good homecoocked food, transportation to the start of your hiking path. And first of all: you will meet people who walks and wants to svare their experiences. And goes to bed at 9 ;-) So if you plan to explore the Lefka Ori, this is the place to start !
