Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a glamping tent. Absolutely no lighting inside and no request to bring a torch so we borrowed some garden solar fairy lights to get changed by. Young lady at check in was indifferent and told us off for booking late for dinner even though we’d just driven 450 km across the Outback and were out of mobile range. Bathrooms a bit grotty. Fun I suppose but not the semi premium experience I was expecting.

Staff at Mungo lodge were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Max and his team do a great job. Our deluxe king room was roomy and comfy. Our only complaint was that the aircon unit struggled to keep our room cool. We visited at an unseasonably hot weekend, which unfortunately meant our Sunset tour was cancelled. The Walls of China guided tour really is the only reason you would visit Mungo. We were just very fortunate that NSW National parks ran a morning tour we were able to join. While at Mungo we learned that the Lodge is now owned by Chinese, and is no longer indigenous managed either. Most staff are international backpackers. This was very disappointing and the website should reflect this. We felt we’d been misled. The Lodge is very pricey, our room cost $298 per night for a basic motel room with close neighbour and poor soundproofing. Meals were excellent, but again very pricey. Overall the staff and the meals make the Lodge, but we will not return.

This is a good accommodation facility in a difficult environment. Water is scarce. Power is locally produced. Supplies come a fair distance over rough roads. You would never know these things from the standard of service. The accommodation units are clean and comfortable with a nice outside seating area. The beds are very comfortable. All the staff were very obliging and good to deal with. Loved the coffee.

I totally agree with review from Stephanie C in Oct 23. The initial welcome was extremely disappointing as this is what sets the tone for the stay. The girl on reception was unfriendly and unhelpful to the point of rudeness. The castors on the bed were irritating and the outside chairs were covered in bird poo. The breakfast was typical of a basic country hotel not a high class lodge, and sachets of coffee unacceptable. On the positive side the young man running the bar and restaurant was fabulous and couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The food at lunch and dinner were excellent. The sunset tour was great and the guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable although I would have preferred and indigenous guide.

A must go to place if you wish to discover the full history and spirituality of Australia. A very special place. I had the kangaroo fillets in the Lodge, best meal I have had in 20 years, Give them a try, I doubt you will regret it. However, not it is some distance to a fuel stop so make sure you fill up at your last stopping place before leaving the main roads.

Camped there. Dined and wined their and used their pool table. A relaxing break. Staff and service was excellent. Well done team. Menu was wide ranging, the beer was cold and the wine selection excellent.

My father and I had a great 2-night stay in one of the cabins at the Lodge, which was very clean and comfortable inside. For the amount you pay for a 'luxury' cabin though there's room for improvement. The castors on the beds are really annoying, causing them to slip around; there's nowhere to place your clothes (like a chair or stool) in the bathroom except the extremely rickety towel rail; and the outdoor furniture was covered in bird poo; and our room wasn't refreshed after the first night. We were a little underwhelmed by our initial welcome at the front desk too, e.g. we weren't told where the restaurant was, where/what time breakfast was, or indeed that it was complimentary. I really would expect something more than international roast sachets as the only complimentary coffee option too. That said, the dinners were absolutely delicious, the tour to Mungo was great with a friendly, informative guide, and the staff handled the unexpected blackouts admirably. Lastly, I wish they would put some sticks into the water troughs of the goats & emus as we saw a couple of drowned honeyeaters in them that couldn't get out.

Stayed at Mungo lodge for 2 nights mid September. During the stay I had 1 lunch and 2 dinners and all was fantastic, looked good and tasted better.Room was good, very spacious and comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful. Did the Sunset tour and the Walls of China tour and both were good and the tour guides provided a lot of information. My main purpose for the trip was photography based so I would have liked to me able to hold back and set up for some photos but had to stay with the group which is what you do in tours. Overall I loved the experience.

The rooms were adequate and the beds comfortable, but they did skate around the room on their casters. You never knew where you would end up in the morning - actually dangerous. The shower was slippery, so my disabled friend did not feel safe to have a shower. Given the price we paid per night they should have provided better quality instant coffee in the rooms, and as the coffee machine was broken when we were there, we had the same poor quality instant coffee as the only option in the dining room as well. Breakfast were also poor quality - packet cereal and toast. They didn't even provide some tinned fruit to go with the cereal. Just as well we weren't diabetic or gluten intolerant. Felt ripped off. Evening meals were pretty good, but don't recommend the kangaroo. I know you expect to pay a bit more for remote accommodation, but they are actually not that remote, only being 1.5 hours from Mildura, so not really an excuse.

We travelled in a family group with some in the deluxe room and others in the very basic bunkhouse. The prices are expensive for the quality but we understand the extra costs to run a lodge in that location. Good camp kitchen for self catering. Bed in deluxe suite needs castor wheels locked. Beautiful dining, deck and lounge area. We did the parks nsw Walls of China tour with fantastic Indigenous guide, Lance.
