We had a delightful stay at Troutbeck Resort. The area around the hotel offers some of the most beautiful scenery. It truly is a magical place. The staff too were great. Although getting information via email and the phone proved quite frustrating at times, when we were actually there, the front of house staff were exceptional in their conduct and customer care. The other staff, from housekeeping to the waiters/waitresses, were also excellent. There was one staff member who stood out though called Taku. I don't know if it's the high school teacher in me that got me chatting to him, but I was most impressed with his conduct, eloquence and joyful demeanor. I felt like nothing would ever be too much trouble for him.

Finally, I feel a mention needs to be made of the groomsmen Jeremiah and Oscar - both of whom I had the pleasure to meet and go on two separate horse rides. I was impressed by their level of customer care, local knowledge of the area, as well as their care and respect for the animals they care for. The horses I met were in great condition too, and the tack although a little worn in places, you can tell was cared for and cleaned regularly. After each ride, the helmets and tack are sterilized, which was a comfort to see under the current COVID climate.

All in all, we had a delightful stay and I wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed at the resort in it's time share accommodations, the rooms were well maintained and with daily linen changes and housekeeping, there are plenty of activities for the family, fishing, golf, horse rides and boating it's a great facility. Very reliable WiFi and power as well as we had very few power cuts during our stay. Its definitely a great place to go on holiday

The resort is an excellent place to be and enjoy the views, it has comfortable bedrooms and friendly staff. However it needs to be generous with wifi 1 gig was a bit too stingy. Its a place where I can recommend for family, business and personal visits

First I have to admit this hotel has an excellent setting and ambience. Really great place. Here's my beef: The place is heavily frequented by government officials who in turn bring along their families and kids. Dinner time the place resembles a daycare. Kids under tables, running around, noisy, basically kids everywhere. Unrestrained and just doing what kids do. I'm a parent myself but there is no way I could pay top dollars to put up with what I've seen at Troutbeck. To add to my misery when I booked in the place was under some renovations. The hotel did not bother tell me this. The whole night I stayed up to sounds of jackhammering and grinding! Relentless. But the thing that really did it for me was when I complained. Instead of getting a personal response management decided to send me some generic copy and paste response basically shooing me away. Unless they address my concerns I will not recommend anyone spending their hard earned cash so they can be treated like some faceless nonentity.

We had the worst service ever from this resort. We made a non refundable online booking through expedia for 2 rooms.
On our way we routinely called them to notify them of our early arrival and they claimed they were fully booked.
After several calls involving Expedia and the resort; they finally agreed to give us the rooms.
On arrival we only got one room and the reservation lady was so unapologetic and we had to stand our ground for them to finally give us our second room.
How they manage to keep reservations line open on Expedia even after our fiasco is still a bother to me.
What about if other guests fall into the same trap as us?
I would not recommend anyone to book this place on online booking platforms. You will have to fight for your paid accomodation.
Overally the resort has a great ambiance and the grounds are well manicured with great views nestled among mountains and pine trees.
The restaurant staff is amazing but the food is just average.

Troutbeck is one of the most beautiful resorts in Zimbabwe and it’s natural beauty remains as captivating as ever. However recently they have reviewed their pricing and now even a basic meal there is exorbitant. 30 USD for a steak lunch. Everything, including room prices, are quoted in RTGS with a very low rate. In June 2022 rooms were $110 USD. Now they are charging roughly $245 for the same rooms. I don’t know what justifies a doubling in price in a matter of months, but this is very disappointing. Visitors are still able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, but there are far more affordable places to stay and eat at in the area. Hoping things return to normal for this once exceptional establishment.

Very peaceful and therapeutic location. The unique antique and vintage feel is also very relaxing. Almost as if one has travelled internationally. The staff and service offered is commendable. Also feels so secure to take a stroll around with the security in check all the time.

The location is stunning and some of the historical architecture/features that remain are nice however it's a hotel that is in need of a breath of life.

The staff are friendly but lack urgency. There was a conference running as well as a triathlon being prepared for during our visit there, it's possible that this affected the mood/function of the staff.

The restaurant was very average, especially considering the prices.

The amenities such as the pool are clean and well maintained - but very dated, just like the hotel itself. There is a bit of a retro charm to it all.

Overall I think that it's fine - just fine, but for the price of a room or a meal it really should be doing a lot more to ensure that visitors and guest feel they're getting their money's worth,
