Historic building that looks great from the outside - unfortunately, services one would expect are really lacking - simple things like trash found not emptied in bathroom from previous tenants, no extra toilet paper, and only one towel present lead one to wonder what other details were not attended to - hosts appear hurried and stressed and seemed more concerned...

This is the second time I have tried to book a room with malolo house and have been greeted with an appauling phone manner and little to no help! the first time they "where probably not going to be there" so wouldn't take my booking this time they had students in the rooms and could only offer a more expensive...

We stayed there in 2004 with different owners, but same type of friendliness and quiet. The new owners have really spruced this up with new paint, stripping of door paint to let the wood shine thru, new curtains, TVs and the kitchen is well stocked, clean and has enough room for all the people that can stay there. Not much...

Malolo house lies very convenient in the center of Helensville. Helensville is possibly not the place to be in New Zealand's Northland. However if you need to stay there, Malolo House is definitely the place to stay, if you are looking for a good value place with shared facilities. The rooms, being former hospital room, are nicely decorated with a...

We stayed at Malolo Lodge en route to The Bay of Islands. There is not much to do in Helensville, so luckily it was just an overnight. Pluses: - Beautiful, B&B-style rooms for a hostel price - Quiet and romantic - Very nice, well-stocked kitchen (my chef-spouse made mussels stew with fresh green-lipped mussels) - Friendly owner - Clean and...

I have used this B&B as a business base on several occasions and found it lacking for very little. Rene and Annelise are extremely accommodating and more than happy to go the extra mile to help make the stay more enjoyable, at the same time not being "in your face" all the time as some B&B hosts can be. I...

My partner and I were travel extensively and we are always on the look out for clean and affordable places to stay. We definitely found it in Helensville at Malolo House. What a delightful find. Definitely one of the cleanest and nicest places we have stayed. Very well set out with the bedrooms opening onto the large hallway where the...

A great historical building in a great location, but my stay was spoiled by the very rude hostess. I can;t understand how they could treat a guest they way they did! Clearly not experienced in hospitality and I would not recommend staying with them.

Beautifully restored villa with charming and sunny bedrooms. Kitchen is modern and very well equipped. However the bathrooms were quite far away from the bedrooms. The hosts were very polite and friendly.

Having booked bed and breakfast a couple of weeks before arrival, we were rather concerned to be told they didn't do breakfast any more, unless we paid for it! Then we were asked if we had bought food to cook for dinner. Sadly we hadn't because every eatery in Helensville, except for an Indian takeaway, was closed!! The room was...
