Staff and locals very friendly. Roast dinner was lovely but undercooked vegetables .The roast potatoes would have been spot on if they were cooked 10 minutes more, same with the new. I think they are checking the smallest and the biggest aren't cooked ! Saying that the meat was perfect with a great gravy and extra served in a gravy boat...

I hadn't visited this pub for decades but had it recommended to me by a friend. Warm and friendly welcome to a clean and tidy country pub. The menu was better than usual pub grub and I wasn't disappointed. I'm a really fussy bugger and not easily pleased but the food was very nice and presented very well.the service was...

Visited the Black Pig with three others for weekday lunch. Great pub grub, great prices, good red wine for a country pub, and helpful and pleasant staff. If you're planning a trip out there though, even if you live in east Kent stick the post code in the sat nav. There are country lanes to be negotiated and it would...

This place is a real gem, it's a proper old country pub tucked away in the village of Staple near Sandwich. We arrived there today just before 4.00pm and enquired as to whether they were serving food. They welcomed us in although the kitchen was about to close. The pub itself is small and cosy, there was an open fire...

Went for a meal last night with an old school friend here. I haven't been here for ages as it was so dire under the numerous amount of previous owners. We walked into a spotlessly clean yet full of atmosphere and charm pub and welcomed warmly by the new owners Jane and Ali. We had a drink before going into...

I needed to find somewhere restful to stay before a long trip and decided to look for somewhere rural as I live in a city and often visit the seaside for other things. The black pig certainly fitted that brief. It was mentioned that there was a function on that evening, however I didn't feel this would affect me as...

Apologies for taking so long to respond to this review but i am sorry that you had a bad experience last November but we only took over the pub in February and didn't actually start selling the rooms until May 2016. i hope that any new visits will exceed your expectations.

We stayed her after being double booked elsewhere and the rooms were very comfy and food was amazing too. The staff couldn't have done anymore to make our stay more welcoming. The breakfast was perfect and certainly sent us on our way with a full belly.

Nice bedroom in a local pub under new management who are trying to rebuild this pub's reputation after a difficult period. They are trying hard and deserve support! The food was good, the beer good and the atmosphere friendly.

The Black Pig serves a range of basic lunches, some with baguettes, but gets more elaborate on Sundays. Avoid Mondays (close) There are new owners so the large dog is gone, but they are trying out takeaway and home delivery. A real fire is already lit, but the bar staff had more trouble lighting the candles on each table. No...

As ever a great lunch. ploughmans is our favourite and the draught beer is ex. This combined with a local walk the best as you don't feel so guilty afterwards. Good location and comfortable surroundings.
