On a recent stay in the lovely village of Chilham we had a mean in the recently renovated Woolpack, and very good it was too. My missus had belly pork, which I loathe and she loves, and I had a rather large burger. The taste of the burger was marvellous, it was obviously home made and all the better for it. Very good food at a good price. Staff were friendly although one member carried on a conversation with a friend even when I had sat down at a table waiting to be served. Not very professional. A nice pub all told.

Thank you very much for such a positive review! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience and that our food was 'very good'. All our food is either homemade or locally sourced, and we try our hardest to keep prices low. We are sorry to hear about the staff member, and we assure you this will be resolved.

Lovely hotel in a really quaint village, stayed for 2 nights, was met by Tom who put us in No 11. Room quite small for the price, mattress had loose / broken spring which made quite a loud boing every time I rolled over. Ginger cat kept us awake on the 2nd night. Downstairs entry door had no soft close so banged when closed. Food was quite good but kitchen staff were in short supply that weekend. Reception lady and Tom both apologetic. Breakfasts adequate. Bar okay and had good Shepherd Neame Ale selection. Hard wooden seats all over. Nice beer garden. Great walks up to and through Mansfields Apple Orchards and back along the river. Signposting not very clear in places. Would definitely return but price of £85 per night was steep for what it is. Staff were good despite previous reviews.

We returned today from a 3 night stay at The Woolpack Inn, having only stayed 2 nights. Several issues got the better of me in the end, so we decided to cut short our trip by 1 night. Let's start with the positives. Chilham is a gorgeous village and The Woolpack Inn is beautfully placed at the bottom of one of the most quaint and English villages in the country. As a family we stayed in Room 17 which is on the other side of the road along with Rooms 16 and 18. The room was absolutely great for a family of 5. The large bed was immense. The room is spacious and was appreciated by everyone. The evening meal we had on Friday night was very good and the service was also good. Let's move onto the negatives. I mention them as I would like to see the owners invest in their property and people. Our room had no WIFI at all for 2 days and when you don't get a 4G signal for internet usage on your phone, it was very annoying. Despite being promised it would be fixed, it only started working 1 hour before we left this morning. For a family of 5 staying in the room, we thought the provision of 2 towels was very poor. The bathroom toilet didn't flush properly and should be fixed/replaced immediately. The bathroom shower head is held in place by rubber bands and a hair band. This is just a lack of care and no attention to detail. These things then put pressure on the staff. The gentleman tried his best all of the time and showed an exemplary attitude to customer service and wanting and trying to please. This couldnt be said of the lady who checked us in on Friday night and had an attitude on her from the start. It could well be that she is stressed and overrun and that would be a perfect explanation for her rude behaviour not just once, but about three times between Friday night and Sunday morning. If it is not due to stress and being overrun, I would suggest that she is sent on a 1 day customer service training course. She needs to understand that the customer is paying her wages and when hard earned money is spent in the hospitality industry, the least you should expect is a friendly, warm smile and an acvommodating attitude. She fell way short of the level required. This turns the spotlight on the owners. I don't know who they are, but they have a potential goldmine on their hands if they raise the level of The Woolpack Inn to the next level. Whilst the food was very good in the restaurant on Friday evening, the furniture is all hard wood everywhere and the room is very low on ambience. The furniture should be improved. Our room just needed a little investment to be fantastic. A new toilet and a new shower to take it up a level, with a permanently working WIFI and the accommodation would be fantastic. So a mixed bag for us. We would have stayed the 3 days had there been no issues. As it was, the poor bits pushed us to an early exit which was disappointing. I hope for the staff's sake that the owners read this message and realise that a little extra investment in the facilities and staff could pay handsome dividends.

As pubs with rooms go, this was ok. Reasonable accommodation etc. But zero atmosphere. And definitely not worth the cost. I’ve stayed in similar pubs for £60 a night including breakfast. This was £85 and nothing was included. There wasn’t even an inclusive rate for breakfast. You paid separately fir your coffee, your juice, even an extra slice of toast was £1.45. The service was tepid, compared to the cheery welcome and concern for my wellbeing found at the previous night’s pub in Lenham. And to add insult to injury they played a commercial radio station at high volume in the restaurant over dinner and breakfast. No wonder it was half empty.

Was on a short holiday break in chilham with family and went to the pub a few times , initially for drinks only then a dinner. Very unpleasant experience, rude waitress. Didn’t even wait for us to sit down and already asked what we wanted to drink. Made us wait an hour for a starter and serving other tables with people that arrived well after us . Took no regard of the fact that my son was there and he is only 5 Yrs old. He became very unsettled after a long wait, eventually ate very little as too tired.
