We arrived at the Dormy House Hotel with our puppy for dinner after reading about how dog friendly they were. We were welcomed in and told we could sit anywhere, but must stay in the room where the bar was, as the dog was not allowed in the restaurant. This room was newly decorated and the tables and chairs were all plastic with a shiny silver quilted bench seat. The result was a very echoey room filled with what could only be described as garden furniture. We were given menus, and waited to have our order taken. After 15 minutes we asked if we could order food and was told to order at the bar. We ordered 2 carverys and was told they would do a dog bowl for free. The carvery was in the restaurant, so we took it in turns to go and get our food. My partner took so long to get his food that I had finished my meal before he had returned. We had to ask 2 more times before finally getting the dog bowl. The carvery was ok, but as you had to walk through the restaurant and back to the bar room to eat, the vegetables and meat were cold by the time you started to eat. Very disappointed. The menu on their website was not the menu offered and yes they did allow dogs but I wouldn’t say they were friendly.

This was a wonderful and well planned venue for an excellent local band 'Soul Alliance', with an enthusiastic audience enjoying listening and dancing to their music. A friendly and attentive staff added to our enjoyment. Great atmosphere, so I'm looking forward to a similar event soon. Good luck to this venture!

When we arrived, we waited in the bar for our table to be ready and decided to order a drink while we waited but the staff behind the bar were busy and didn't make eye contact which was very rude. We hadn't managed to order a drink but after 15 minutes of being ignored, we were taken through to our table. The table hadn't been cleaned or set so we asked for it to be cleaned and for some cutlery. We ordered our drinks and then went up for our carvery. The carvery counter was dirty and there was very little meat on display. However we chose our meat and then had to wait because there weren't any vegetables or sauces ready. When we mentioned this, the lady behind the counter said she was busy and she couldn't do everything! She was very passive aggressive and not friendly at all. When some vegetables were brought, we took some and sat down. Unfortunately, everything on our plates was cold and didn't taste very nice. It was also very noisy and not a pleasant room to eat in at all. Our drinks didn't ever arrive either. My only recommendation would be to avoid this place at all costs!

We have been coming here for over 15 yrs. Excellent location for beach. Now revamped new extended bar. Music coming through the floor when arrived. Went on until 11.15pm when asked staff if they could turn if off. Next day same. Live music until midnight. Obviously good for business but not guests who wanted a relaxing get away. Shower had heavy mildew bought my own spray to clean. Breakfast not as good. Felt very stressful. New changes not for us.
