This is written and evaluated against other 3 star hotels/mom and pop accommodations.

This accommodation was booked for me though my work for a conference at the nearby University. It's a barebones, byo toiletries/towel sort of place. But it is clean, the bed is fine, and you can come and go as you please. It's about 15mins from Uxbridge station, and about 8 mins from Brunel University on foot.

The owner was super great when I arrived early morning and held my bag while I did some sight seeing to reduce jet lag and kill time until check-in. Was pleasantly surprised they did this for me, and I am grateful.

My only sore point, and the reason I leave only 3 stars is because someone violated the smoking rule my first few nights. I am very fortunate that it was pleasant weather and I could open my window, but it has severely affected my health. I have a smoke allergy, and it has left me with a rasping cough, sore throat, and trouble drawing a deep breath. The smoking has seemed to die down, and the smoke did dissipate with all the windows open, but as a guest if an accommodation says non-smoking, it should be enforced. Whatever was being smoked was skunky and heavy and the whole hallway was hazy with it.

While I don't appreciate becoming ill, I can appreciate that not everyone cares about this. Otherwise, it is a good clean stay-home with a friendly gentleman running the desk.
So, if you don't mind a bit of smoke, or if the weather is kind enough to open all your windows to air out, this is a good cheap place to stay right between the station and the university.

Walking in there was little in the way of friendly introduction. I was led along a green-lit corridor that made me feel I was in the start of a horror movie.
The room was basic-no thrills and what I can only imagine a 1970's brothel would look like, and a shoddy one at that, I sensibly didn't ask for an extra pillow.
With the window letting in a persistent cold and a failing radiator, I have had warmer nights camping! The shower was the nicest part of the room if only because it was warm and when you closed your eyes you could forget where you were sleeping!
At around half 5 in the morning, I was woken to a woman screaming. I sincerely hope it was just the owner's nephew watching loud adult films and not the start of a bates-motel scene.
Breakfast never appeared- I was promised "uncle would be delivering it at 9 am" and then told it would be another 3-4 hours before it manifested!
Deplorable service and I can only imagine the reasons behind the high prices are that they look the other way on some shady business!

I came here last year, June 2016, my experience then was ok. However I again visited Brunel Lodge Guest House and it has changed immensely, there are now fitted beds and cupboards, new staff who are very kind and have the answer to your problems. I would have not recommended this guest house last year but after my experience this year i would recommend this guest house to everyone. A bit pricey but definitely worth it!

You can't expect much for 55 Pounds a night, but this dump is not even worth half this amount. It is very poorly maintained, dirty and dingy. Outside there were piles of rubbish, dustbin bags and a skip filled to the top with dirty matresses and other rubbish. The shower "room" looked like a converted broom cumboard and the very small wash basin is not even in the shower room but in the room itself. The reception was unfriendly, the guy insisted on making a photo copy of my driving license ("in case the police would come in"), despite the fact that I tried to refuse this. There are shifty characters occupying other rooms. Breakfast was not good and served by an uninterested Asian guy who doesn't even know how to even show a smile. We were pleased to get out of this place, which many people would probably find to be scary. Once, but never again! The worst guest house we have stayed at for many years.

To be honest was not expecting much, however was pleasantly surprised, local to the airport. Nice comfy bed, the guy at the front desk was very helpful, basically No frills, No hassle or headache. There are also a couple of local pubs which are also good for a quick drink in. Would recommend this place as an express stop.
