No complaints about the rooms or the staff. Very spacious self catering units in the main hall and the grounds. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The only complaint is the charge of £5.95 a day for WiFi. Everybody and his dog is online nowadays and charging for WiFi is about 5 years out of date! Come on Diamond Resorts........

We called in at this beautiful hotel and had an amazing lunch. The chef allowed us to order starters from the evening menu, which were delicious and beautifully presented. We also had the tastiest chips and sweet potato fries ever! Coffee and cakes were nice too, and the service is spot on!

The apartment is spacious, decor is great and very clean. They have numerous activities throughout the week, planned for couples and families. It's only 10mins outside Lancaster, so easy to have a shop and bite to eat. The staff are very friend and helpful. I would totally recommend.

A beautiful old Manor House with apartment type accommodation both within the grounds and in the house itself. Booked the hotel direct as it was much cheaper than through TripAdvisor. The location is remote but the building and the rooms are fantastic, spacious and well equipped. The check in / out is straight forward with friendly staff as are all the staff, but seems all the positions are basically run by students. The restaurant rooms have no atmosphere...

Firstly as an exchange guest you receive a free pass to the leisure centre and free internet for your stay. There are no extra utility costs etc. We arrived Christmas Day earlier than the 4 pm check in and our...

Booked the hotel for a business trip. The building is beautiful. However, housekeeping really needs to get their act together. Desks, table counters were dirty. Bathroom sink was dirty as if someone spat in sink and left it like that. Some kitchen utensils were hung whilst they unwashed. Inside drawers, the dishwasher was just as dirty. Door handles were loose...

We exchanged our timeshare week through RCI to spend Christmas at Thurnham Hall. Sometimes when you exchange from your home resort you can experience quite inferior treatment at your destination, however we were blown away by the standard of service at Thurnham. They granted all our requests, accommodating us in a splendid unit in the main house, and even ensuring...

We stayed in 2 studio rooms. Mum and dad in one and our 19 and 17 year old sons in the other. Both equally well equipped and spacious. Great value for money. A couple of observations if we may - more milk for coffees and teas in room. Leisure club open earlier for swimming to get the best out if...

We stayed here for two nights on the first weekend in December. We booked a deluxe double but ended up with an apartment of some kind, not sure if this was an upgrade, but it was bigger so not a problem. The accommodation does look a little outdated now, but on the face of it, it is clean. We ate...

Hi, I just wondered if you actually stayed at the same Thurnham Hall as me, and my family! We go once a year to Thurnham for a week long holiday, usually around Christmas time, but these days, always in the winter. We go in the winter as there really is nothing better than sitting in the 'Great Hall' in front of the gorgeous and atmospheric enormous log fire. There is a welcoming bar in the Hall, which hardly ever gets noisy (except for the occasional times when they are having a Christmas firm's do in the library next door, or a wedding reception), and it is very much in keeping with the rest of house. This means that you can snuggle up in one of their comfy armchairs, with your favourite book, and your tipple of choice (red wine for me, followed by a cup of coffee), and chat to other guests if you like, or just hunker down, on your own, or with your family (one recommendation that I would make, is that if you have children, particularly youngsters, you may prefer to holiday in another Diamond Resort, particularly "Pine Lake", North of Lancaster, - it is nearer the lake district, but as you are not far from the M6 at either place, it doesn't take long to get to the lakes anyway, - Pine Lake is at Carnforth, {of Brief Encounter fame} and is more set up for young children, with a good indoor play area, especially for them, plus the usual swimming pool, playground, ducks! etc). Once or twice a week, in the Hall, there is a pianist, and it is lovely to sit back, whilst feeling toasty warm in front of the fire, and listen to the lovely music he plays. I cannot imagine what room, or apartment, that you were staying in, as I have never come across accommodation here that is not only very comfortable, but also extremely clean (whether in Britain, or abroad, the Diamond Resorts that we have stayed at have always been immaculately clean). At Thurnham we have stayed in an apartment directly above the Great Hall, which was of course very in keeping with the style of hotel that Thurnham Hall is, on another occasion we stayed in a small, but gorgeous one bedroom cottage, attached to the main building, which was very cosy. These days we have to stay in the modern, and extremely high standard apartments that are elsewhere on the site, as i am now wheelchair bound, but the standard is so high, that I wouldnt mind living in that apartment all of the time! You also mentioned the toilets, I presume you mean the ones in the mansion house itself? I can only imagine that you only like modern furniture and surroundings, as the said toilets are quaint and in character with the whole house, I don't feel old when I use them, just more like I have stepped back in time, to a gentler era. Our holiday to Thurnham, is our indulgent, doing nothing but the three 'R's (relaxing, resting and reading, in this case) activities. Of course we do venture out occassionally, as the scenery is lovely, and Lancaster itself is a very interesting small county town, but we love returning to that lovely Great Hall room, and as we often stay there near Christmas time, we unwind in front of the twinkling lights of the big Christmas Tree. Thurnham Hall gets 5 stars from me, and in case you are wondering, I am a genuine guest, and not an employee! I am very sorry though, that you didn't find the magic in the place that we do, maybe action and adventure holidays are of more interest to you, I could easily recommend other Diamond Resort hotels to you, for those sort of holidays, if you are interested.
