Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here valentine night as didnt want to drive home. The rooms are basic but really clean and comfortable, modern tv. Bed is really comfy. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Alex the guy we had on reception was really helpful and welcoming and even though we arrived after midnight was very helpful trying to locate us food and source us a heater. In the morning i didnt make breakfast. My husband did and said is was very nice but whilst we waited for a taxi they offered us tea and toast while we waited. Overall a really nice last minute booking.

The Avis is a small hotel on a quiet street in Bromley. I had a single room #11, that was tiny. One twin bed with a micro, postage stamp sized bathroom. The room was maybe 6' wide with a bathroom that was 5' long by at most 3 ' wide. You couldn't turn around in the bathroom , but it was big enough to shower etc. no complaints - it's a basic, clean, budget hotel - think older IKEA furnishings with your grandmas comforter on the bed. The floors are creaky and the doors lock with a single latch - so everyone has to slam them to shut them. Not really a problem, but noisy if your neighbor comes back late or leaves early. Nicely located near the center of town and a 5 min walk to the Bromley North train station.

Breakfast was standard British breakfast fare that is identical to every other breakfast in the UK

Very nice and helpful staff.

Tiny tiny tiny - yes a single room was booked - I’d never swing a cat anyway but not even enough space to swing a rat - dated from the 1970s decor to the plastic wonky shower - no cups or mugs and no use anyway as kettle didn’t work
Scruffy carpet
Dated bed with awful mattress
1,hand towel
No larger towel
Reception staff and cleaning staff don’t win any hospitality stars either
Before I saw my room I had a red alert when I checked in and was handed front door key and an aerosol room freshener can !
Back is killing me after a terrible sleep and not even a morning cuppa tea
Don’t believe the photos on booking . Com

Friendly staff & central location. Parking included, that is where the 1* star ends. Room 4 deeply unpleasant with the smell of smoke. All windows open upon arrival, clearly trying to air the room. Several deep cleans would be ambitious to get rid of the smell. Waking up throughout the night feeling sick from it. Good job I had my asthma inhaler with me.

My wife and I only had one tea mug between us and one glass to share for water. The kettle we didn't use until the morning when I flicked the lid there was brown flakes inside. Rinsed it a few times, made a cup and decided to leave it.

No bin provided in the room. Upon arrival there was only half a toilet roll provided. So one of us had to wait.

Signage- in case of fire please leave immediately notified if the alarm sounds its a continuous sound.

There is NO building/evacuation map on the internal door as there should be legally, in any guest room of where the assembly point is . Not sure if the door to the room was a fire rated door. Was too light and may cause a fire to spread quicker. Smoke alarm in room. With the smell of smoke in this room I question if its connected.

Bed was soft. Too soft, poor sleep.

We were visiting friends out in Bromley for a birthday & all we wanted was a room that was clean and had the basics, enough toilet roll, a cup and glass each, clean kettle and bin.

This hotel has heaps of great potential and staff are friendly. All it needs is the basics. Get rid of the 1980s duvet too! The rest of the decor. OK

Chose to eat out for breakfast as felt not clean enough and just wanted to leave. Hope the hotel can resolve all of the above would love them to succeed.

Hotel facilities are basic but comfortable. My stay was ruined by the loud noise of the water pipes which sounded like a motor starting up and dying away intermittently throughout the second night of my stay. I complained to the night staff at 3am but received no apology and was simply told that it’s a known problem in the upper rooms of the hotel and nothing can be done about it. When I asked for a refund of the £150 I paid for two nights I was told to contact the manager. As I left before he arrived, I tried phoning but was rudely told he wasn’t available. I’ve emailed but not had a reply

the owners for this hotel full of (BS) and they all lie as far as I understand its a family run hotel but half the stuff is broken and the breakfast is not nice seems like they be putting up food and then warm it up for the next day. also the place smells and seems like all they Care about is money. got a friend to say as well and they was not happy the bed smells like homeless people live there and the price of the rooms are way more that they worth will not stay there ever or will not tell anyone about this place as it don't worth the stay and never seem like the bedding is clean.

I would not even give this hotel and its staff a 1. Had a terrible experience om the 25th June 2022 with 2 men in the room next door that were obviously on drugs. They were speaking loudly and playing music the entire night… and when I say the entire night! It was the entire night until we left the next morning. They kept going in and out of the room/hotel and smoking something outside in the parking which was right in front of our window.
I got up to complain twice and the staff did not do anything to keep these men quite and they did not offer us an option for a change rooms.
I then emailed through a formal complaint and followed up with phone calls, this matter was not addressed until the 26th July 2022.
The hotel manager simply did not care. They did not offer to refund or explain why this matter was not dealt with accordingly.
Do not wait your time and money.

We chose this hotel because of the location, being close to family. We had a twin room and the mattresses were so soft the compressed to the base, terrible to sleep on. The bed that i had was broken and was propped up with a piece of wood, this made it higher at the foot of the bed making it uncomfortable to get confortable with my feet higher than my head..The ensuite was grubby with mold in the shower. There was a little kitchenette with a range hood, this was supposed to have the light for this area but there was no way to turn it on, the switch was not there. The fridge froze everything until I managed to turn it down.
The staff were friendly enough to me, but were very offish to my daughter, this happened more than once.
We would never stay here again.
