Stayed in October on a week night. Stayed in the lodge building opposite main pub. Room was ok. Needs some attention to detail considering the very high mid week price. Bathroom was tatty see pictures. However the shower was absolutely superb, lovely and powerful. Both ours and our friends room only had one set of towels in the room yet...

I have known this place all my life and have either drank, eaten, stayed (or all) a fair few times over the years and the Bedford Arms has retained a very high quality. Great menu, rooms are very good quality, either in the main house or the more modern annexe. It's not cheap but well worth it. Much recommended.

Stayed here for one night during the week with some friends. Rooms were average and considering it was booked for a couple there was only 2 towels (one of which tiny) left for two people. More were provided when requested but for £130 a night I felt this was just basic. We ate in the bar and two of the...

Stayed here although we live locally and have been here before many times for a drink and dinner. Midweek stay, disappointed with the food and the waitresses were miserable. The Duty Manager as a nice lady and very helpful. Breakfast was poor with congealed beans and the choice was limited, had to ask several times to top up the orange...

We had Sunday lunch in the main restaurant, I was pleased we chose to sit in there because the main bar restaurant was very busy and loud. service was first class, the gentleman who served us was very pleasant and attentive. I had the salmon with bubble and squeak, the rest of the family had roast beef, they all said...

Husband and I went here just for a night with 2 friends for some catching up over drinks and dinner and staying the night so we didn't have to drive. Absolutely perfect for us - lovely terrace outside (loved the mobile bar outside!), really fantastic dinner with the best service imaginable from Domenico and the rest of the team and...

Went for bar lunch with my elderly aunt and had quite comfortable seating on the flat, having walked in from outside on level surfaces. The next table was rather close. It was busy, even on a Tuesday so we were glad we booked. The staff were attentive given that they were also obviously serving a lot of food in a...

A table was booked in the Bar, and on arrival we were shown to our table, we did ask to have a couple of the chairs changed as all the chairs at the table didn't match, the ones we asked to be swapped looked a bit uncomfortable. The Hotel was extremely bust with a large wedding party and a private...

We had an 80th afternoon tea party for a family friend. Beautifully presented, allowed to add our personal touches, served graciously and someone always on hand to help. Tea was excellent. Would recommend.

Went for a quick lunch with my wife and two friends. It was a sunny day so chose a table in the garden - table was very dirty, had not been wiped clean for what looked like days, unused napkins on the ground which was basically dirt. Asked that the table was cleaned and a member of staff came out...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bedford Arms Hotel is situated in the village of Chenies. The Village was known as Isenhampstead until the middle of the 13th century, when it became known as Chenies from the Cheyne family who occupied the Manor until the 16th century. The hotel building dates for the most part from 1842. It was converted from a house to a hotel in the 1930's and was a small eating house and bar rather than a hotel. In 1957 the restaurant was moved to it's current position. The hotel was frequently used by the Russel family who later acquired Woburn Abbey. There are eighteen bedrooms, ten of which are individually designed and decorated in a traditional style and eight new contemporary designed bedrooms. There are two four-poster suites one with a Jacuzzi, sixteen double bedrooms including one purpose built disabled bedroom. Twin and family rooms and also a cot is available on request. The majority of bedrooms have wonderful views of either the hotel gardens or the Chiltern countryside.Room Service is available during breakfast, lunchtime and dinner. ... more   less
