Don't bother going, the place is dirty and a complete con. The Mayan resort has shared toilets and showers. The area is amazing, so go, but I wouldn't stay there if I had a choice.

In March, the couple next to my hut started a open fire to cook their meal. They were told to put out the fire, since the huts are made of straw and wood and a spark could ignite them. So no open fires. Propane or gas stove... More

In March of 2015, the beach along the surf line is clear, closer to the dune line, there is small debris, small sticks and weeds, but nothing major. All in all, beach is fine.
