We never stayed at the resort, but visited the restaurant several times. The food was always of a high quality and the black fruit cake, made from local fruit, was excellent. The resort is right on the Mopan River and there is a raft that is used to transport cattle across the river. This is a great base for swimming...

“It felt like I was staying at grandma’s, only it wasn’t grandma!” That’s what I heard myself say to my mom when asked about my stay at Clarissa Falls. It was the closest analogy I could find. In fact, our stay so exceeded expectations and so thoroughly renewed our bodies and hearts, both my husband and I wished we had...

We stayed at Clarissa Falls Resort on our way from Guatemala to Belize City. It is a charming getaway situated about a mile off the main highway just west of San Ignacio by about 6-10 minutes by car. Chena, who manages the resort, is the most accommodating hostess. She is like a mom -- she is so kind and caring...

We spent two nights at Clarissa Falls Resort while touring XunanTunich and Actun Tunichil Muknal. It was the perfect peaceful location and we were treated well. The guest huts are clean but a bit primitive. The falls were just outside our door so we fell asleep at night listening to the river. Our host Chena was wonderful and an excellent...

Simple, but clean & comfortable thatch roofed cabanas, great river to swim in just a few steps away, really wonderful & warm owner, Chenna & her equally great helper, Jose, good food, great location for loads of good day trips (Mayan ruins, horseback riding, zip lines, cabe tubing & more), so quiet & peaceful. Our favorite place to stay in...

We saw the sign on the highway so we stooped in for lunch after exploring Xunatunich. Had a delicious, inexpensive lunch in a lovely spot! I just wish that we had had swim suits with us for a dip in the river. A charming find.

We were only there two nights for a study abroad trip to Guatemala and it rained the whole time, but it was such an amazing experience. First off the owners are super accommodating; our group was rather large but they still managed to find the space so that my significant other and I could bunk comfortably by ourselves. There is...

We had the pleasure of spending two nights at Clarissa Falls and would have loved to stay longer. It's nestled in an agricultural area next to the Mopan River. The thatched-roof cottages are basic, clean, well-tended and very comfortable. The fruit trees on the grounds attract a wide variety of birds making this a great location to stay and rest...

We spent 6 nights at Chena’s lovely lodge in mid-December. Clarissa Falls is just outside of San Ignacio on the Western Hwy. convenient to Xunantunich, Cahal Pech, Tikal and many other archeological sites. The lodge sits on a portion of the family’s ranch, with well-kept grounds and plentiful hammocks. We spent several delightful afternoons relaxing and watching the resident birds...

My wife and I spent two weeks in Belize, and our last night in the country at Clarissa Falls with Miss Chena and Jose. Truthfully, there could not have been a more perfect place to end a truly magical trip. We did not feel that we were spending the night at a "resort", but rather like we were special guests...

“We stayed in #2. They are simple and clean, but not luxurious - exactly what you should expect from an authentic Mayan hut (with concrete floors, running water, and electricity - but no AC). :)”

“There are two rows of cabanas that parallel the river. The river's gurgle can be heard from all. The cabanas closer to the restaurant will have stronger WI-FI.”
