Absolutely stunning colonial building, very clean room, friendly and helpful staff and a lot of attention to details. Just a stone's throw away from the Zocalo.

We really liked Campeche and Castelmar is conveniently located to the cultural sites and the malecon. It is an attractive, clean building. However, I had read that the rooms could be small and, having experienced that small in Mexico can mean really small, I upgraded to a junior suite for US$100. The room was definitely roomy and had a really...

Located one block from the seafront, this lovely old hotel was spacious, atmospheric, and charming. The room was huge and we could see the ocean from the balcony. The staff turned down our bed in the evening and left chocolates for us - a nice touch. There was good wireless free internet and a great swimming pool to relax by...

This old hotel is a converted Army Barracks. Our junior suite was huge, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The interior areas of the hotel are beautiful. Very romantic. The pool is very pretty - with high colorful walls and nice decorative items. We spent some afternoons there - just the 2 of us.

This is an excellent hotel in the perfect location in colonial Campeche. I was awestruck by the superior service. I had reserved a car rental to drive to Calakmul the morning after my arrival. The hotel concierges, Pablo and Luz, called the car rental agency to confirm my rental. The agency was absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. Luz and Pablo called...

We had a lovely large room with a small balcony overlooking the busy street below. It had ceiling fan as well as A/C, very comfortable. Light breakfast is available. Staff is very friendly and attentive but spoke very little english. Good opps for practicing spanish. Perfect location within walking distance to water front, bars & restaurants, the historical walls and...

We spent just 1 night in Castelmar and we arrived there late in the night knowing of this hotel from Lonely Planet guide. The receptioner wasn't so happy to give us the welcome and make our check in at 1:30 am. The room was really huge, nice and clean. The morning later we understood not to have the breakfast included...

If you like staying in gorgeous historical settings, while exploring historical gems like the wallked "Old Town" city of Campeche, Castelmar is a great choice. The building is beautifully restored with attention to colonial era beauty. It's not overdone or over-the-top luxurious, which was fine for us. This was a splurge spot on our two week Yucatan family vacation, and...

We stayed twice on the Castelmar twice on our road to and from Palenque. The hotel is pleasant, nice and clean in an old colonial house. Drawbacks are: we got a junior suite facing the street which was quite noisy. We staeyd with our daughter, was hard for two to sleep in a single bed. Breakfast could have been better....

We really liked Castelmar. It was a beautiful place and the staff was always friendly and always greeted you with a smile. The location is also perfect, with easy access to points of interest and great restaurants.
