Nothing beats a cosy cottage for a winter getaway and our stay in the Fisher Gill cottage ticked all the boxes we were looking for. Perfect for a small family, our son slept on a camp bed in the dressing room area next to the bedroom. The bathroom was a generous size with a large corner bath. In the room...

We have just returned from another visit to Monkhouse Hill Cottages, this time, a group of us. It proved perfect for our family gathering. We booked one of the larger cottages so we could invite everyone for a family meal. The owners were so helpful and accommodating - even helping us to arrange a larger dining table. We enjoyed drinks...

We stayed in Great Calva Cottage and must admit that the say was great. Only a few little negatives from my point of view: Kitchen too small for number of people staying in cottage, would have been perfect if it was part of the seating area. Hot tub again the same size as all the other cottages even though we...

We’re delighted you had a great stay over New Year. Some clarification for others about the ‘little negatives’ in your review – Great Calva kitchen is fully equipped and designed for the large number of guests staying in the cottage – it has three ovens, two hobs, a large fridge freezer and additional fridge. It is deliberately not fully open-plan...

Our family (13 of us + dogs) stayed here over Christmas 2016 in Great Calva Cottage. We only have positive things to say about it. From the booking process right through to check out it was great. The cottage itself is spacious, with plenty of bedrooms and living spaces. Great quality furniture. Cleaned to a high standard and in good...

We wanted a special weekend to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we weren't disappointed with our first visit to Monkhouse Hill. Cloven Stone is beautiful, well equipped & cosy, with great views across the grounds and not overlooked by anybody. The owners have added some thoughtful extras such as the spa pass, catering options, adaptive aids if required, and also...

My boyfriend and I visited Monkhouse Hill for a long weekend mid November, and were thoroughly impressed. The cottages are beautiful; Chapel Beck (the one we stayed in) even has it's own sauna room which was so relaxing after a long day walking in the cold, as was the log burner in the living room! The cottage was very spacious...

I booked the Great Calva for a group of 12 to celebrate my sister getting married. The cottage is beautifully situated with stunning views and well tended gardens. The Great Calva has a huge dining table which comfortably seated all of us as we arranged for caterers to come in on the Saturday to cook a three course meal for...

We went to Monkhouse Hill for the weekend and it was just perfect! We were greeted by Jennifer who was such a great host and showed us around the cottage. It was cosy, had a log fire and very comfortable. Jennifer was great at telling us good walks and pubs to go to nearby. We loved our stay so much...

If you like cosy vibes in a stunning countryside setting then this is the place for you! I went with my friends for a weekend of walking, relaxing and good food. Jennifer was incredibly welcoming to us and made sure our every need was looked after. The wood burner really added a delightful warmth and feel to the property. We...
