Chance upon this accommodation when we reached dinner plain at about 7 plus at night, we knocked on the door as it stated vacancy. Ian and Sangyong are very friendly, they prepared a room for us immediately and followed by awesome breakfasts in the next morning morning. The house look very neat and new as they just renovated the whole place. The bed was very comfy and everything is just so perfect. We simply love this cozy accommodation and even thought of to stay for one more night. This definitely value for money and it's perfect for a getaway.

Our host Ian was wonderful, gracious, thoughtful and the attention to detail was impeccable.

Our room while small was very well appointed, the facilities were spotless and extremely well maintained. The living area was beautiful, relaxed and inviting, you feel like your at home.

Great central location, walking distance to everywhere at Dinner Plain.

Our stay wasn't long enough and we spent too much time in the snow to enjoy our accommodation more ... a longer stay would mean we wouldn't have to sacrifice one for the other.

Next time Ian .. xx

A truly wonderful place to stay. Great accommodation with all the luxuries you would expect. Downstairs there are 5 simply and beautifully decorated rooms with comfortable bed and pillows and the convenience of 3 separate bathroom facilities. Upstairs is the massive Living, Dining and Kitchen with 360 degree views. Ian and Sangyong were wonderful hosts and always made you feel welcome but gave you the space to make yourself at home. The breakfasts were not for the faint heated thanks to "Chef" Ian and nothing will ever be out of place or dirty thanks to the never ending efforts of Sangyong!

Great location , well maintained property , but didn't see fire place in action at all in 2 days we stayed over the weekend in August . Very cold mornings and evenings inside the lodge , had to be well dressed up for breakfast and had no intention to go to upstairs living area - no heating of any kind there . Maybe the hosts forgot about the so praised fire place or didn't care about the few guests ? They do it in January, March/ according to some reviews /, but not in August. It was very disappointing. No heating in shared bathrooms and nowhere to dry up your towels. No dry towels on offer every day- you need to ask for ones.

Response from Ian R, Owner at Cloud 9 Alpine Lodge
Responded 10 Aug 2016
As hosts at Cloud 9 Bed and Breakfast we do aim to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere and experience for our guests. When our in-house guests are using our upstairs lounge area to watch TV, have a chat or have pre dinner drinks then we offer to light the open fire for them - as a matter of comfort and courtesy - however Irina K and her very charming husband spent no time in our lodge during the day or night time (they left the lodge immediately after breakfast and didn't return until very late in the evenings as they had good friends staying elsewhere in the village). The upstairs dining area has 4 electric panel heaters that are automatically turned on at 5 am in preparation for breakfast time 7 - 9 am - breakfasts for Irina K and husband were served at 10 am (a full 1 hour after the breakfast service had concluded) and another at 9 am when inside temperatures range from 18 - 20 degrees. All bathrooms have 4 X 275 watt heating lamps in the ceiling lighting unit - turning them on does heat the bathroom quite sufficiently. Additional dry towels are always available upon request - which is what was request by Irina K and then promptly supplied by us. We normally provide 1 X towel for each guest (unlike more expensive hotels) - which has proven to be adequate in the past for all previous guests. Additionally each guest bedroom is supplied with 2 X towel hanging or drying rails behind the bedroom door. Towels hung there during the day/night dry very well indeed when the room heater is left on. Additionally, when Irina K requested to leave their private car parked in our driveway (for 2-3 hours after checking out) we were very happy to accommodate this request. At Cloud 9 Alpine Lodge, we do welcome comments and opinions on how we can provide a more satisfying stay for our house guests.

Well worth the journey down from Sydney to visit the real high country of Victoria. Would have to be the most awesome location I have stayed in for a long time. Hosts were forever doing little things to make our stay comfortable. Open fires, Good home cooking by all of us and and a great glass of red make a fantastic holiday.

My sister and I wanted to stay overnight at Dinner Plain on the way back from visiting relatives in NSW. We drove into Dinner Plain looking for accommodation and found cloud 9 Bed and Breakfast. Our hosts Ian and Sangyong were great, from the warm welcome the glass of wine and open fire this was definately cloud 9. The rooms were lovely and the beds wow! super comfortable.
Breakfast was a rel treat, along with home made granola and fresh fruit the eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked and great coffee to top it off.
We will be back! and make this our half way stop over our next trip.

Whether you're on a business trip or on holidays for a ski trip, this is the place to be!!

I was in Dinner Plains for business and from the day i arrived till the day i left i felt at home! Waking up to a ready made warm breakfast and a nice fire is the best way to start your day! Come home to a warm shower, warm cozy fire, and a nice glass of wine to relax you into the night! Have a great sleep in the cozy comfortable rooms and wake up energized for your next day!

I even had the pleasure of joining Ian and his Partner Sangyong to Easter Dinner with their local friends up the street. Extremely hospitable environment. Ian and Sangyong also made a wonderful dinner over the fire in the back to end my trip!

I hope to be back in the near future to have another great stay but for vacation hopefully!

Thank you very much Ian and Sangyong for a memorable and comforting stay!

We stayed at Cloud 9 for just one night, as we were in Dinner Plain to do a snowshoe/Fondue package. We had a great night. The lodge is very comfortable - the room was quiet and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. Upstairs the lounge is spacious with a beautiful outlook. Ian is a very welcoming and kind host and did everything to make our stay a good one. The breakfast the next morning set us up for a fantastic day. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
