We stayed in a 2 bedroom lodge with views back to the coast, the lodge was well presented and clean with a fantastic outlook, very cosy on a cold rainy day with the log fire.

The hosts are delightful and very helpful.

If you are looking for a place to totally relax this is it.

Stayed here for Valentine's Day in 2014. Was very surprised to find that the main accommodation is essentially a house. Our room was the size of a small bedroom. The bed was creaky and the room was decorated in outdated furnishings (which I found odd, as the venue doubles as an art gallery). Our room didn't have a mini fridge, so we had to store all of our picnic goodies in the communal bar fridge in the hallway. As mentioned, the site is also an art gallery and cafe (and quite a great one, at that!) but the entrance to this area was through the hallway, past the accommodation rooms! So much for a quite sleep in or an early night- there was a function on the night we stayed and were kept awake by the sound of high heels on wooden floor boards. Knowing that only a thin wooden door separated us from the 50 or so people at the function put a dampener on our romantic getaway, and did not feel very private and luxurious as advertised. As my partner booked this venue, I did not know what room he selected/the price he paid for it. When we got back home he looked at the confirmation email, and apparently the room we stayed in was not the room he paid for. We didn't chase it up, though- what was the point?

The hosts were very lovely and attentive. They made me special variant of a breakfast meal and it was delicious. Unfortunately, this was the only positive experience to share. At $180 a night, we were very disappointed, and my partner a little embarrassed.

We booked a cabin at Hilltop on Tamborine as we didn't want to pay the extortionate rates that some places on the mountain seem to charge. On arrival we were upgraded to a room in the main house.
Hilltop on Tamborine is essentially a bed and breakfast with the owners' home and an art gallery attached. The room was pleasant, very clean, comfy bed and basic but perfectly adequate bathroom. There are amazing views from the gallery/cafe where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and Evaa cooks a mean breakfast!
If you are looking for somewhere friendly and reasonable to stay, this is the place.

On arrival at HTOT it resembled the set of a scary movie scene with an empty car park with no indication where reception might be hiding. After contacting the contact number I was advised someone would be sent up too meet us in 5 minutes as we sat in the howling cold wind. Whilst I waited a young family arrived and began walking around also seeking the elusive checkin process asking me if I worked there. A gentleman then arrived showing us all to two seperate cabins and placing keys in the door. I then asked about checkin where he indicated he spoke no English. I watched this process unfold for several others arriving late afternoon. The website pictures do not reflect the donga/dormitory size rooms and poor customer service we won’t be returning.

We arrived in the middle of the day to be led to our Donga. Space only slightly larger then the bed and a tiny bathroom. It was very hot in our Donga so we turned the window rattler air con that hung over our bed head and made duck like noises at you. We proceeded to get ready before we went out for the afternoon. We return to find the owners had come back into our Donga and turned the air con off and the Donga was hot again.

I have literally stayed in $10/night accommodation in South east asia that was better than here at $158/night. I can't speak about the more expensive accommodation they offer but I doubt we will be their last victims. I just don't know how anyone could feel comfortable sticking anyone in that space and not be ashamed of the lodgings they are offering!

I hope at least a few people will be spared this by the writing of this review.

Try Eagle Heights Mountain Resort down the road for roughly the same price and they do a $12 buffet breakfast ob Sunday that is awesome!

We too arrived mid-afternoon, and after inquiring of the owner where the 'accommodation' we had pre-booked, might be found, we too were shown to a medium sized outbuilding, resembling a demountable site office, comprising two 'masonette' flats, at the front of which which had been constructed an awning, over a narrow veranda.
Our end, I immediately noticed, upon entering, was made up of an area which contained a double bed and this also doubled as the 'lounge' room, and into this tiny space there was also added a small refrigerator, a kettle and some tea/coffee provisions and a couple of bottles of something in the refrigerator I assumed to be there for the consumption of guests, to be paid for upon checking out.
The 'bedroom /lounge room (one and the same place) was extremely hot, and although the bed had been prepared nicely and thoughtfully, the wall mounted TV was not able to be watched successfully from this position. When in bed, viewing although possible, was difficult due to the size of the screen.
The ONLY other room, through a doorway from the bedroom/ lounge room was the bathroom/ toilet. The only window in either room that allowed a view (which we had expressly requested during the booking process) was trough a small bronze aluminium sliding window, which looked out onto the trunks of eucalyptus trees.
We have stayed in many establishments for approximately this same or a similar charge ($158.00 per night), but this is the first time I allowed myself to be taken in by a 'clever' booking website, that lured me into thinking I was perched near the top, or indeed, on the top of Tamborine, when I was, in fact half way down Tamborine-Oxenford Road, in a locality correctly described as Wangawallon, and around 6 kilometers from the North Tamborine Business hub (4.5 kilometers south of Gallery Walk), and around 11 kilometers from St Bernards Hotel (which IS on the 'top' of Tamborine).
This accommodation I was shown to was neither luxurious, nor did our 'room' live up to many other claims made. Our accommodation was, as stated, a nicely decorated 'site office outbuilding, that certainly did not live up to our expectations, and in my opinion, should not have been offered up as a 'room' within an establishment, but more correctly should have been described to potential guests as I have set out, and the price per night been adjusted heavily downward accordingly.

The guest book for Hilltop on Tamborine in packed with glowing comments and I can only say how well deservd they are. In desperate need of a break my wife and I needed somewhere near the Gold Coast that was quiet. I mistakenly thought this was a hotel when I made the reservations online but it didn't matter that we found it was a B&B. The hosts are charming and attentive without beinging intrusive. The breakfast of Eggs Benedict was 5 Star. One day we found ourselves there at about lunchtime and had the best meal of our 10 days away from our home in NSW. We have definitely put Hilltop on Tamborine on our must return list. The guestbook is full of glowing comments about this outstanding B&B, oh and the sweeping views from the coffee shop deck are amazing Just a fabulous place to say for a restful night and to explore Tamborine Mountain while being close to the glitz of the Gold Coast.

My partner and I stayed here in February for my birthday which also coincides with Valentine's Day. The website described it as luxury accommodation which I didn't see. Our room was neat and clean but it was like a relocatable container/office fitted out with small bathroom, carpet etc. It was comfortable and I slept really well. The location was really good too. From the balcony of the house itself (where there were other rooms for let) there was beautiful views of the trees, hills etc looking towards the Gold Coast. We sat out there for a glass of wine in the evening. Make sure you take your rid as the midgies are quite bad.

The main thing we were disappointed about was the breakfast. I have done quite a lot of travelling in Europe, Canada and N.Z. and a continental breakfast usually includes fruit juice, good coffee, pastries, a selection of fresh fruit and cereal and toast. At Hilltop the coffee was foul. My latte had thick froth on top which was different. The pastries consisted of croissants still in the foil tray in which they were bought from the supermarket. There was a selection of tiny jams which is usual and some waffles. That was it. I had orange juice which was brought to the table in a bottle which we served ourselves. I had one croissant, tried my second coffee to give them a second chance but decided I couldn't drink it and left, still hungry. There were other breakfast items which could be ordered off the menu but the accommodation included a continental breakfast so we thought that would suffice. Very disappointing.

Attended a wedding here. The surroundings and the view was beautiful. From inside the chapel you can see the treetops from a huge eindow at the altar. Even though its close to the road, you csnt heree it from the property.

My partner surprised me with a trip here.. WOW. What an incredible surprise. From the front of the building it is deceiving as it appears to just be an art gallery / cafe.

But the bedrooms (i think theres only 3) are just off the main hallway and they are such a surprise. The bedroom was not small by any means. Was a perfect size for us. Nice styling. King size bed. Had a great atmosphere with lace curtains.

The bathroom was amazing. We had a massive spa that comfortably fits 2 people and has windows next to it that open up to the view of beautiful forrest.

Through the back door was a porch (shared with 2 other rooms but with dividers so there is privacy), and had incredible views of the goldcoast.

The building itself also has a cafe which is full of artwork and overlooks the goldcoast aswell. The owners are full of knowledge and happily tell you about the artwork and even give you binoculars to look at the coastline.

Opposite the bedroom/cafe area is a chapel with a beautiful garden around it and a gazebo. We sat in the gazebo with wine and watched the sun set, which you could see Brisbane city and the surrounding mountains. It was stunning.

The owners give you pamphlets of all the surrounding food places. We chose masala shanti and the food there was absolutely incredible. Amazing indian food, in a really nice restaurant with friendly staff.

Breakfast in the morning at the cafe was great.. Eggs Benedict and freshly squeezed orange juice all prepared by the 2 owners who are so incredibly friendly. I cannot recommend it enough. The owners are a couple from Finland and they are so accommodating and clearly love what they do, and meeting all the people who come through the Mount Tambourine area.

On a final note, dont judge it from the front :) it is a hidden gem... And we had the spa room which is perfect.
