Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice caravan park, good activities for children, beautifull beach. Unpowered sites are mostly with no grass, so not ideal for the price due to dust and dirty in the area.

Bathrooms are usually dirty. Even in a public holiday, bathrooms were not cleaned often, which was very disappointing.

We spent 2 days and 2 nights in Port Hughes and had the best room in the place. It overlooked the sea not just from the front door, but on opening your eyes in the morning the first thing you saw was the sea. The room was spacious with table for 6, large lounge, 2 tvs, fully equipped kitchen. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and sugar supplied with long life milk in the fridge, ready for you to walk in a have a hot cuppa if needed. No need to pack those extra things yourself. Personal items such as body wash and shampoo were supplied along with towel, sheets etc., and in the kitchen tea towels and dish washing liquid.

You can just take yourself and forget the rest.

We thought our spot was perfect as we always travel with a dog, We had a powered amenities site which was great having your own personal shower and toilet. We were staying with another 2couples and we were all able to have our vans close to one and other and were able to have our own private fire pit at our vans. When it go to wet and cold the kitchen area made for a perfect place for us too socialize

We only had two nights here but will no doubt visit again as it was shady and very well presented. There was a private boardwalk from the park to the beach - white sand with crystal clear, very inviting water. As we entered our cabin, the air conditioning had been put on to help us settle in and there was ready made ice in the freezer ... it's these little touches that set caravan parks apart! We have not seen a camp kitchen quite so well presented (although herbs grown outside would have been a nice thought) and the pool looked lovely.

We spent 3 nights in one of the cabins at the caravan park near the golf course. The cabins here are VERY basic. Don't have high expectations! They are dated and simple however still clean and tidy. They are a bit of a hodge podge of fittings (the blinds barely covered the bedroom windows in parts). But the facilities seemed to distract us from the level of accommodation. The caravan park has a large Bouncy pillow trampoline, a playground and bike track and a brand new and swanky pool area. So the family activity offerings outweighed the lack luster cabins. There is also a beautiful cafe hidden behind the golf course, short walking distance from the cabins - the food and coffee are to die for! There are more modern cabins available with an ocean view but they are further down the road away from the activities and are WAY more expensive.

Stayed in a Holiday Unit cabin which was at the back section of the park (the park has two sections, one being near the ocean, and the other in a dusty back area). The cabin was filthy. The fridge was not wiped inside or out, the toilet and shower were filthy and the shower caddy still had remnants of soap from the previous guests. The beds were so uncomfortable. The shower was also absolutely terrible where the water sprayed everywhere and was constantly hot, cold, hot, cold. Tried to change cabins but they were fully booked. Would not stay here again or recommend anyone to stay in these holiday unit cabins at the back of the park. Even though the cabin was old, cleanliness is a MUST!

Great park, great pool and other activities. Great access to a beautiful beach. Only down fall for me personally was that the powered sites had no grass. Was all dirt and sand. Everything was quite dusty and grotty from walking in it. Also the ensuite sites could use an update or very deep clean of the on site bathrooms.

The 2 bedroom deluxe seaview cabins are well positioned, modern and well equipped, but, need improvements.
There's no cupboards or shelving in the bedrooms. Most inconvenient if staying more than one night.
The dining room chairs are hard metal, no cushions and are cold in winter.
No exhaust fan in toilet, which opens directly into kitchen.
No wifi, and 4g is ultra slow at best.
At night, the area is pitch black dark, no lighting to define walking pathways. Hazardous to walk, and poor security.
With a few upgrades, this site could be top class

We have travelled extensively in Australia and internationally and I have never been charged anything but the quoted fee.
We were charged $50 more than our original booking statement and the reasons could have been this or that but management could not find our original booking????
No effort was made to solve the problem or find out why this charge had gone on our account.
I would suggests poor people skills here.
Fortunately for us when we arrived home I contact the head office of Big Four and within two hours the frindly and apolgetic staff had refunded this money to my account.

The good points: beach is lovely, and the pool is outstanding. Also a lot of the cabins are dog friendly.
The bad: our ‘superior cabin’ looked nothing like the photos we were sent on booking. It is a dated dog box. Got sent a really nice text on arrival saying if we had any problems, respond to the text. I responded saying the cabin wasn’t what we expected and any assistance would be appreciated, had no response. The TV is smaller than a computer screen. Turned it on once and the sound was so awful, turned it off immediately. Bathroom is tiny and only has a shower curtain! Also only a bar fridge in the cabin.
Hopefully they also add some kind of garden in front of the cabins to make it look a bit nicer.
Lesson learned, definitely book well in advance if you want a half decent cabin.
