Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's been wonderful both times we have stayed here. The service is excellent, the rooms clean and comfortable. Food delicious, If I was going to be picky, the only thing I would wish for would be a few more available activities to do, Kayaking and Jetski are fun, but It would be nice to have snorkel kit for hire, as the sea water is so clear here. Maybe a pool table or a dart board. Not a big deal as relaxing is also the key thing to do here.

The round hut is very classy. You will see the whole Davao Gulf iff you peek by the window. The pool's cleanliness is well-maintained. Foods are cooked and presented very well, and very delicious. Kudos to the butlers and the entire staff, who are very attentive and quick to the needs of the guests.

We'll definitely visit again soon.

This resort are all goods...they can fetch you if you don't have a transportation vehicle. They use there Van or "lantsa" to to take you with your baggage. The batlers or waiters are so friendly they make smile every time when you faced or encountered. This resort is best recommended for group members or people because they can handled it all, due to big room, table and sorroundings.

I booked a room for 3 nights months ago via Agoda for Aug 1 to 4. I was informed by the resort via Agoda app that guests who are non-Davao region residents need to present a negative RT PCR result (which I am more than happy to comply).

So fast forward… 3 days before the trip, I presented our IDs. That’s when the resort’s reservation personnel, Ria, informed me that they will not be accepting guests from outside Davao region since it the LGU policy was revised. Imagine, we flew miles just to be told that you are not allowed to enter Samal? I mean… the policy was implemented weeks ago, and I have been reiterating over and over about the fact that guests are non-Davao residents.

Plus, Ria was really unapologetic, unprofessional, and completely incompetent. I was just told that I will just have to cancel my booking. She can’t do anything about it. She kept on saying that she doesn’t have any idea.

What’s more frustrating is the reason she provided:
1. They are on skeletal, and staff A didn’t inform staff B that guests are coming from outside Davao
2. The LGU’s policy is confusing

After the encounter with Ria, her seemed to be boss called. Her way of talking is better, but still impose that it is not the fault of the resort because of the 2 reasons I mentioned above.

I already requested for refund and cancellation to Agoda. I also filed a complaint through them. However, I want everyone to know how the resort poorly handled my case. Do not book Hof Gorei of you don’t want your vacation to be ruined.

The emotional and physical stress that the resort is something that cannot be measured, and ultimately cannot be take back.

The view was perfect although it was quite far from the port area it took 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive there. We were in awe it was very clean and there were numerous wildlife found in the island. We had our own personal butler so it was easy to request for the things we needed. There were limited choices for the food and a bit pricey. There were not a lot of tourists during that time and we were very satisfied with that because it seemed that the whole area was ours at that moment. It was a perfect place to stay and relax. They also accept credit card for some payments but make sure you have cash when you want to get a massage. Their massage therapist was really good my husband and I were able to relax.

Just wanted to draw attention to a very misleading claim if making your reservation via Booking .com
On their booking page it states FREE Airport transfer. So I booked and then contacted the resort enquiring about the transfer. I was informed it would cost PHP 5,500 EACH WAY. This equated to 26% additional cost to the holiday. I decided to cancel and with assistance from Booking .com (because the resort were not answering the phone or replying to email) got a full refund.
On Agoda they say the Airport transfer fee is PHP 4000 ... I assume 1 way ...

I was amazed by how calm and natural the place was. The staff were very friendly, approachable, and respectful, especially regarding how they treated LGBTQ individuals. The room was clean; however, the most challenging part was the uphill trek, as our room was located on the upper part and far away from the beach. Though the food was very pricey, and there were some hidden charges that we had to pay, overall, everything was amazing.

We got shamelessly cheated by the resort management! We were assured of strong Globe cellular data which is why I agreed to book. Was clear with the staff we needed to work so needed confirmation of the connection. When we reached our room there was no data and the story suddenly changed to the cellular data comes and goes. The manager was the worst! She was pinning the issue to their staff and was cursing and shouting at her to be the one to pay us back. We ended up leaving with no refund at all. We booked 2 nights and they had no shame and kept the payment for the 2nd night too. Very selfish and inconsiderate behavior on Holy Week itself!

Nice view and their room was very clean and relaxing.

Sorry it took awhile. No you can't bring your car, the resort has a boat waiting for you at the pier as mode of transport to its guests.
