We stayed last week in the resort to celebrate my mom's 54th birthday and I must say the experience was comfortable. I think the weather really cooperated to us because that time it was very windy and cold which my family really prefers. I'm just glad in the morning it's still cold and windy but the sun showed up. But I would like to comment on the service because the place itself is really my vibe. The service over all was 8.5 for me. I love that the pool closed 10pm, I love that there's a house, chill vibe music in the bar and i think they should play those kind of music and not the loud party music will make it more tropical, classier and you get to appreciate more of the place and the drink you're holding. The place is also good for kids - I mean you have a gorgeous pool and the beach. However first few steps on the shoreline there are stones and kind hard for me to walk and needed to go a bit further and look for a ground or sand with no stones. There's no wifi in the room but there is in the pool and beach area. I did not get that but it's all good as it totally increased my quality percentage time with my family. Other than that everything was perfect. My sleep was 10/10. Love the pillows! Lastly the food was great and has a big serving. Trisha of front desk was very welcoming and displayed such a tremendous professionalism. Francis, the one who served us last Feb. 2 - during our dinner was very polite and attentive to our needs. During reservation Ms. Jessica Segura of sales was very clear to details, patient, impressive and fun to talk too. Definitely coming back!

This place has an amazing pool but needs improvement on their beach side (maybe remove the moss/lumot).
Buffet dinner and breakfast were expensive (900+ per head, if not included in the room package) yet average in taste and have few choices only.
Customer service was okay.
Nevertheless, we will be back here with my family due to the pool and the amazing room.

I had a lovely time with my sister. We availed the day trip tour with lunch. Food was served as a platter and there were only 3-5 choices. Not bad for the price. The pool and staff were great, accommodating and always with a smile on their faces. The bathroom was an "ok" just a little concerned about the shower stalls, not so clean. But overall our stay was enjoyable.

Just spent a few days at Club Samal and will not be making a return visit. Very modern resort with good size pool and the staff were nice but some lacked professionalism and training.
On arrival we decided to have a quick shower only to find the water stone cold. We reported it to reception to be told the resort had no hot water as it had been under maintenance for a while. We should have been informed of this in advance but it wasn’t even mentioned when we checked in.
We also had to ask 4 times for someone to clean the room the following day.
At dinner we found that a few dishes were unavailable because they didn’t have the ingredients and service was very slow. We had already finished our meal but one dish hadn’t yet been served and arrived some 30 minutes later. We were then informed that most items on the dessert menu were also unavailable because they had no ice cream.
On our last night at the bar we ordered cocktails and my wife ordered a Mojito but what she got was Vodka and lemon juice with large chunks of lemon in the glass which really just tasted like a glass of very bitter lemon juice. We were surprised when the barman, instead of apologising for giving the wrong drink and offering to replace it proceeded to argue and fob us off with all sorts of reasons as to why he made what he claimed was the resort’s version of a Mojito even although his ingredients were different to what they listed on their menu.
We demanded to speak to the bar manager but were again fobbed off, so we refused the drink and returned it. A few minutes later a waiter presented her with a non alcoholic fruit drink with their compliments and apologies. We were so disgusted we quickly finished our drinks and retired for the night and this ruined what was going to be a good last night, with us just enjoying a quiet drink by the pool. It was very unprofessional for a staff member to argue with a guest and refuse that guest access to a superior.
We had been looking forward to our stay and the resort was not full but with just a nice amount of guests and the pool wasn’t overcrowded, but we were very disappointed and the only positive thing about Club Samal was that it is only a 10 minute boat ride from Davao.

Room: We had pre-booked a room on the ground floor; it was so convenient to get to the pool and the beach. There was both a kettle and a Nespresso coffee machine with a couple of pods. Also supplied were nice large pool/beach towels.
The room itself was spacious and decent; lovely comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Couple of niggles... The main was the air conditioning; although it was lovely and cool, the window type unit in our room was incredibly noisy. I appreciate that window type units are easier to swap out and maintain, and I don't have a problem with this, and have stayed in hotels and b&b's with no issues, but considering the price of accommodation maybe the resort should have invested in better units such as Panasonic. The a/c unit we had was branded TCL and if noise bothers you when sleeping I suggest you put in a request to have a quieter aircon; they used about three different brands of a/c throughout, so it should be possible to avoid the rooms with TCL units!
Only other niggles in the room were that the bathroom had discoloured tile grouting which looked mouldy and dirty though probably wasn't. Although there were loads of lights, it was not possible for one person to have a bedside reading light. Lastly, when one removes the keycard, it seems to disconnect power to everything including the fridge.
We had included breakfast, and I could not fault the food - it was great in both quality and quantity. We went on a weekday so just had a breakfast booking form rather than a buffet that I gather happens at weekends, but this was fine. We had two evening meals and the food wasn't the cheapest but it was good and I didn't think it was overpriced.
I asked for tea but they only had green tea; again, I would expect them to have 'normal' tea even if it's the cheap Lipton brand; and really having sachets of instant coffee doesn't present the right image. If they can manage to have Nespresso in the rooms I'm sure they could have a coffee machine in the restaurant. Lastly, the disposable serviettes provided are very small, but again at this price point I would expect full size serviettes in the restaurant.
Staff were attentive and helpful in general; the only issue we had was that our room wasn't tidied and the coffee/tea/water not replenished. When we reported this to reception they were apologetic and came round straight away, but at this price point one shouldn't have to ask. I'm not bothered about the towels being changed unless requested since that is more environmentally friendly.

Club Samal is a beautiful place in Samal Island, Davao. All of their staff are very friendly, from the security guard to their wait staff and front desk staff. They only have one restaurant and one bar. They have a big swimmibg pool and they have their own private boat to pick you up and drop you off, but you have to pay extra for your roundtrip private boat fees.

The initial welcome was very good for a hotel of this kind. The room was okay although a coat of paint would make it more pleasing than scuff marks everywhere. The lighting was stark - recessed bright bulbs do not give the right ambiance when no dimming. There is a lack of reading lamps above the bed (yes people do still read).
The aircon unit was very noisy at night - this appears to be dependant on the make. Although we were out for a whole day on our return the room had not been made up and tea/coffee went un- replenished. Given the market this hotel is aiming for this was a huge disappointment. The in house meals weee good but there is a lack of consistency with staff service which could be improved.

It was my first time to visit Davao and this was the first place I visited with my partner. They have free boat transfer every weekend and Philippine holidays, which we availed since we went their during the end of Ramadan. Staff were friendly and consistently greets us. Facilities were all well-maintaned. Beachfront was small as compared to others, but enough to enjoy the sea. Highly-recommended! Will go back here if given an opportunity.

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. I can't wait to return for more sun, sand, and relaxation!
