Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a business traveller working in the power & mining industry we have to ensure COVID safe accommodation. This place is not. The room was quite dirty and required a lot of spray to get it to a standard we require. Think I used 1/2 bottle of sanitiser. Note this is one of the cheaper motels in town at $160/night so I guess you get what you pay for here.

We've lived in Moranbah long enough to know you have at least 4 'decent places you can go for a good meal. (PUMA eatery, Workers club, Chinese & Mexican & The Black Nugget). So the most recent bad review confuses me. We've never had a bad meal yet & never seen a fight, though pretty sure, people fight and get kicked out at all pics at some point.. It's a Mining town so yes everything costs more. Though we find the prices fine. TIP:- Tuesday nights are super super busy due to change over of shifts in the mining world, so book ahead. We've done lunch and dinner there and are actually gong there again tonight. Staff have always been friendly with us. We always sit inside in the air con. My review is therefore only on the food, service and inside area. I would recommend it

Stayed overnight, was last available room in town and took it rather than drive back to mackay. The room was clean however had a musty smell that had been masked with an extreme amount of deodoriser. The aurcon was noisy and rattly and the bed was hard. I understand this is a mining town and not a resort town. The flooring is tiled which is very practical however the bathroom tiles were cracked and the whole room was in need of a remodelling.
Had a feed at the pub attached which was quite nice Think 1970s small town motel and you have this place. Didnt die or get sick so all good and was better than 2 hr drive to mackay or sleeping in the car i guess

Wait times for food, which may I say is very basic menu is extremely disappointing. When ordering at 6:30 to still be a minimum of 1 hour wait time is poor service. Then at 7:20pm at times stop taking orders because they can’t keep up. Since new owners have not invested sufficient time and money into staffing.

Moranbah can be a busy place at times, generally one does not have much of a choice when it comes finding a last minute vacancy…
I have stopped at most of the motels in Moranbah, but never at the Nugget. When I checked in, the staff were very friendly, this made me feel good as I booked this place by mistake…
The rooms are older, but very clean for a mining town. The hotel it’s self was also a nice place to dine while in town…
Would I stay he again? Yes, I would book the Nugget every time I head back to Moranbah..

Do not miss having a meal at the Black Nuggett if you find yourself in Moranbah. The food was exceptional, ours was a large group and everything was timed perfectly and everyone happy with their meals. Meals are reasonably priced for their quality and I will very happily return to this establishment.

Stayed at the hotel recently. The room was average and better than some in the area. The food is the highlight and in particular the steaks. Great public bar with ample sports on the screens. One of the best dining establishments in the region.

There are no signs out the front, very hard to actually find the entrance to this dreary place.

Rooms very rough, paint falling off, mould in the bathroom, bed very uncomfortable. Some kind of sludge blocking the drain in the shower. No soap in room, had to ask but it was all too hard for them.

The boom is gone and this place obviously spent zero dollars in upkeep at the time. Now it's falling apart. Avoid.

Hotels are expensive in Moranbah so this hotel was within my budget. It is an old building and the rooms have been somewhat renovated except the bathroom was the original. The room was very clean and a descent size. The air conditioner was old and very noisy. My biggest complaint would be that there were no hair dryers in the room. This is something that is fairly standard in hotels so if they don't put them in rooms automatically they should tell you this on check in. The hotel is in walking distance to the shops. The staff were friendly.
